    Hi, great video ! Inhave set this up with no issues 😊
    Where would i connect electric hookup in this setup ? When connecting direct to the battery the split charger trips on and off every 4 seconds ?
    Many thanks

    why wouldnt you just take the positive through the bulkhead on the passenger side then straight across below the dash area under the rubber floor mat and then to the driver seat? that would save all the trouble with removing the passenger seat?

    Think I'd have a straight split charge lead going to the battery and then take the feed for the fuse holder to appliances rather than from the van lead .

    Great vid! Thanks for pulling it together.
    Did you need to hook up to an ignition fuse at all for the smart alternator? or does the split charge relay complete that function?

    • @justkampers
      @justkampers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, no need for an ignition fuse or feed as the split charge relay is designed to function with the smart charge alternator. :)

    Very helpful guide, but I'm concerned about the gases given off by the battery whilst charging. Especially being in the passenger compartment.

    • @justkampers
      @justkampers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, to safe guard this problem it is advised that all leisure batteries are vented to the outside the vehicle. We shall be doing a more in depth video about leisure batteries which shall cover this topic.

      You can run a vent pipe from the leisure battery out through the floor. There's a round grommet (located near to where he attached the ground cable to the chassis) which you can feed the pipe through, so any nasty gases flow down the tube and outside the van.

    Hi, thanks for the videos, all very helpful. Should the leisure battery be vented?

    • @justkampers
      @justkampers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ian, it is advised to have some ventilation around the leisure battery. Especially in the summer months air flow will help to reduce risk of over heating. Kind Regards, JK

    Useful video - Are you able to comment on the pros and cons of this split charge relay compared to say the Victron B2B charge controller?

    • @justkampers
      @justkampers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the battery to battery is perfect for anything Euro 6 onwards, with smart charge alternator.

      Is this T6.1 not euro6?
      How come you didn't use a B2B?

    Can I ask how you got the cable through in the cab side? Did you have to remove the dash? If so how? Many thanks

    • @justkampers
      @justkampers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ben, once the wire is pushed through from the engine bay it appears behind the glove box, which you can access from underneath the dash. So need to remove anything from the dashboard :)

    i thought t6 and t6.1 had smart alternators that wont work with the standard split charge relays? DC-DC charger instead?

    • @justkampers
      @justkampers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you are correct, they do have smart charge alternators. The split charge relay we used is specifically for smart charge alternators. Hope that helps :)

    • @gardenogauge
      @gardenogauge ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct Richard, a split charge relay will result in the auxiliary battery not charging for a large portion of a journey. The vehicle typically aims for around 80% SOC

    Is that a special split charger? That looks like a t6 I was told you couldn’t use a standard split charger due to the smart alternator? I was told I need a DC to DC instead??

    • @justkampers
      @justkampers  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi, this video just demonstrates how to fit a split charge relay, which is voltage sensitive. With this setup the leisure battery will charge fine for standard usage, as it has solar backup. But you are correct a DC to DC charger is the most efficient way to charge a leisure battery with a smart alternator setup. Thanks for watching!

    Hi buddy what is the hight of that battery as I've got a 190mm to go under drivers seat and wanted to no if it will fit ok.

    • @justkampers
      @justkampers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, we do think it was also 190mm, but we will double check and let you know!

    • @tiny1973123
      @tiny1973123 ปีที่แล้ว

      @justkampers how did you get on I was going to fit the metal base plate but that's probably going to lift the battery up more so just going to go with a strap I think 🤔 cut down on lifting the battery any higher than it is.

    Does the second battery need coding like the main ?

    • @justkampers
      @justkampers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James, you don't need to code the second battery.

    How to charge second battery via charger 230V?

    • @justkampers
      @justkampers  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, we would recommend the Sargent EC155 power supply unit. This have 12v outputs and also 240v, the great thing is when this unit is plugged into a campsite supply with a flick of a switch you can charge your leisure battery. Sargent Unit here: www.justkampers.com/sargent-ec155-power-supply-unit-charger.html
      Hope that helps!

    Do you not need a smart split charger for a euro 6 van?
    The split charger on this vid does not look like a smart charger.

    • @justkampers
      @justkampers  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, generally you would need one for Euro 6 onwards. We would suggest the CTEK DC to DC charger. This would help the battery reach it's full charge. A split charger will work but not as efficient as a DC to DC charger. Hope that helps. :)
