    Hey all! Thank you for the feedback and I see some good conversations being had in the comments! I did do a bunch of research before starting the diet but it still seems like people have different definitions of what keto is or what it means. I obviously did some stuff wrong since it was my first time. If I were to do it again, I would probably increase my carb limit and add electrolytes to my diet. However, with my strict limit of 20g of carbs a day, no I could not add anymore fruits and veggies to my diet. I did eat low carb veggies, but fruit was hard to add more of. I was scared of going over 20g of carbs because I didn’t want to be kick out of ketosis.
    If you were to try this diet, be very careful. I did a decent amount of research and knew what I was doing but it was still really bad for my body. Obviously it works for some people, but not for everyone!

      Carbohydrates from fruits are easily accessible more so then meats. Picture our ancestors. would they eat from trees full of luscious fruits or an array of fruits and veggies growing from the ground or go hunt for 4 hours with the possibility of not even eating? Would they have ate chickens or whatever animals they had access too yes but not like we do. They had to eat enough for that day or dry their meats as preserving them would be difficult..thank you refrigeration! I doubt they would eat their whole heard either. I'm sure they understood the importance of moderation. The time and effort in to skinning and cleaning an animal would be more work as opposed to eating a diet consisting of raw fresh fruits and veggies. Simple ... we over consume nutrient deficient food today! Meat in moderation and fruits and veggies in abundance...
      I like to think about simplicity.
      When you go to the gas station to fill up your car
      The tank doesnt increase as you keep filling. It stops and chucks out the excess... our bodies cant chuck out the excess...our stomach stretches to accommodate then our asses our arms wherever that excess crap can fit, your body is stuffing it there...
      If we listen to our bodies when the tank gets empty it starts to grumble and putt along... then fill it till ur pleasantly or politely full then wait till ur running on empty again! Only way to win the battle. And you can eat whatever the heck you want!
      Our bodies were intelligently designed. Listen to it. Fasting is relevant to gain self control and discipline. The world is an abundance of flavor.
      If our bodies naturally run on carbs as energy then running on ketosis state sounds more like a back up? should there be something hindering access to carbohydrates like famine or bugs or let's say ur at sea and well apples dont grow in the ocean then it would be a form of survival. To take that stored fat and run off of it. Not long term but short term for the ability to survive whatever drought, fires, bugs floods u name it. Our ancestors faced many challenges that had devastating effects on their food supply...again which leaves an intelligent design.. like electric hybrid cars.. when the gas runs out u still have a battery!!

      Hardest diet I ever had to follow!.... i could eat anything. Nothing was restricted.
      I just had to have self control. I had to wait until my stomach growled and said "hey you, woman, feed me!" She has a few tips to follow on slowing down because truthfully you only need such a small amount of food to satisfy the hungry pain. Then u simply wait till the next hunger pain. And repeat. The more you eat at a meal the longer itll take for a hunger pain. Lol so u want to eat exactly what your craving. Just know when to stop. U can have it just wait till your body has digested the other crap u put into it first!
      I could seriously devour some pizza... like 4 or 5 slices.. you'll find yourself satisfied after one maybe even half of one and a bit of something else. It's amazing. And freeing... I used to be 200 pounds I got down to 140 in 2013. I dropped 70 pounds from the information she provided. its 2020 and I'm not really listening to my hunger signal.. i smoke weed and get munchies too... munchies r awful if anyone knows what i mean! But i still follow those principles. I weigh 153 today. That's 7 years later. I dont exercise. I dont always obey my body's signals and I dont always eat healthy. The highest I got on the scale was 167 and that was like 2 years ago now. I've been sitting at 148-153. I'm sure if I quit smoking weed I'd probably be down to 120 lol. Eventually you find yourself eating as ur body needs it. And you can dine with friends just know when to tell yourself no thank I'm full!

      I relate so bad too I was 130 lbs when I really wanted to lose weight and thought I was so fat and now that I look back on it and that I reached 140+ lbs I wish I started earlier now I wish I was 130 it really does suck 🤦‍♀️

    I'm 4 days in. I've felt so full, it's lovely, no need to snack. But this is so well worded and well spoken. Also great you include trigger warning that's thoughtful. Thanks for the content I love TH-cam for gems like this.

    So, a few things:
    Your carbs should be obtained from veggies. You should def be eating veggies.
    You can eat berries. I have a strawberry or a handful of blueberries when I want something swet.
    It definitely sounds like you were low on electolytes. Gatorade zero or bone broth would be good with this.
    Im glad you stopped before you hurt yourself, but I really dont think you understand what all you were supposed to be eating.

      meat is keto... and so is cheese its actually very nutritious (in portion) and it gives you your protein For a lot of people you can keep it down to at most 15 carbs a day and that’s pushing it I do keto as a lifestyle and I wouldn’t be able to actually do it if I couldn’t eat meat or cheese

    Were you taking electrolyte supplements? That may have been a big issue that can cause dizziness etc.
    I tried keto and the headaches were too much for me at 20g of carbs and I also have hypoglycemia issues. Now I stick to 50g of carbs with some calorie counting and am MUCH happier.

    You need to drink a lot of water and take multivitamins during keto to make up for the missing nutrients in fruits and vegetables. I was experiencing some of the symptoms you described and they went away after taking a multivitamin every morning.

      That's actually wrong, u just need to add salt into water, u get vitamins by eating green vegetables, so the only part u need it's drink water with salt, because insulin makes sodium retention, so if u don't activate insulin u actually need more electrolites, so if u compare water 2000 years ago and now, the water has almost 0 sodium, potassium and magnesium, so u need to adapt that

      Usually most people can lose weight just eat lots of veggies and meat unless your vegetarian or vegan than you dont eat meat lol but yeah just mainly eat a little healthier to start out it will help make it easier instead of just going super strict it will be harder to stick with it. And also just get more active you dony have to do like high intensity workouts lol just like walk around your neighborhood for maybe about 30 minutes to 1 hour a day you should lose weight also cut down sugar intake I noticed when I cut down my sugar I lost lots of weight good luck ! 💗

    Everybody's body is different. Sometimes we can't follow a diet by the book and more as a general guideline and follow our body's cravings but not over do it. ;P I really like how you explained your journey was super interesting and it's really cool how open and honest you are about everything happening with your life.     I relate with the body dysmorphia so much. I was 145 lbs at 5’5” and I felt like I was still fat. Then I gained about 40 pounds and the only difference I really saw what that my clothes were no longer fitting. Keto makes me extremely tired so I stick with just a low carb diet. Doesn’t work as fast as being in Ketosis but I still see results!

    Trying and failing is better than not trying at all. So good for you.
    This is my observation but you probably ate too much protein and didn't eat enough fat and fiber. Keto is about good fats and fiber which means you need to eat high fat foods and green leafy vegetables. Starchy vegetables are out. You can also have berries like strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries. You can also have some nuts like almonds, walnuts, pistachios, peanuts. Keto is my favorite way to lose weight because I don't starve and I can eat fried foods as long as it's cooked in olive oil or coconut oil and without batter. I have experienced keto flu before but it's mainly because I didn't have enough fat in my diet which is needed to run the body once your sugar has been used up. Keto is not just meat and eggs which is a common mistake. I am eating keto desserts, keto bread, keto cakes etc. It is always best to plan before we hop on something new.

    I’ve been doing keto for about 3 months. I’ve lost tons of weight. From what you said you eat a lot of meat and cheese which i think attributes to your overall experience. On keto for me I don’t eat much meat i get my fats from advocado and almonds, macadamia nuts advocado oil, and bullet proof coffee with mct oil. As far as fruits go strawberries and blueberrys. It’s sounds like some of your research was a bit off but I’m happy for you that you did still have some results!

      Blueberries have a ton of carbs. Better to choose blackberries or raspberries which have about half the net carbs of Blueberries.

    You aren't eating enough calories. You aren't getting enough magnesium, potassium or salt. I am hypoglycemic. I can intermittent fast for up to 16 hours, if done correctly. Your experience seems typical of most trying it. If you decide to do it again, please look up Thomas DeLauer on TH-cam.

    Keto requires you to take in extra electrolytes and minerals that you lose during ketosis! Thats why you're feeling dizzy and low energy. You also may not be eating enough calories. Drink zero calorie powerade and gatorade to get in your electrolytes

    Get a glucose and ketone tester you have to check your blood sugar because if you don't eat enough carbs you have to eat more carbs if your blood sugar goes low they can go too low and you can get dizzy or light headed or sleepy. If your blood sugar levels are OK but maybe a little bit low that's OK as long as you're generating key tones

    I was in KETO FOR 3 MONTHS , I know being keto for so long is not good, but it was like I was enjoying. Even eating 1 meal whole day was not effecting me later..lost 15 kg

      Im starting this diet, and I drink gatorade zero and broth for this reason. It helps.
      Im kinda chonky, so its the feeling of being hungry that gets to me. Im hoping that stops soon, I certainly have enough stored fat to burn off.
      But Im keeping it pretty balanced with veggies, meat, cheese, eggs, and berries.

    Girl! I can relate to you so much. I have always have such a bad relationship with my body, even though i always preached to my friends that they should treat their body as a temple. Im in university now, but when I was in grade 10 I randomly started gaining weight...even though I ate the exact same amount. Now, I’m definitely the heaviest I’ve ever been and I’m trying to change that (I’m going on the KETO diet!) I have always had an issue with my arms especially. I always wanted those tank top arms that most of my friends have. I also struggle a ton with body dysmorphia...but I really want to change that. I’m hoping this KETO diet won’t just change me on the outside...but also the inside. I need to be happier for myself. Thanks so much for sharing your story :)

    You should of worn the same cloths. The one on the right is a thicker band holding the flaps as opposed to the thinner one on the before on left. Also you only lost 7 lb since 7 pounds was water weight.

    Yes you can have fruits and veggies and even bread on keto as long as it fits in your macros and you remain under 20g of carbs a day

      @@Mistygrey17 yes it is keto, the only rule about keto is to remain under 20g of carbs daily. If you can fit bread, fruit or veg in your macros then it will be keto regardless of what your carb allowance will be used for.

      @@Mistygrey17 20 of carbs a day is not modified low carb. 20g of carbs a day is an extremely low carb allowance and this is what keto is based on. Low carb would be between 20-50g of carbs a day. It doesn't mean that using that 20g of carbs for a slice of bread is good for you but it is up to you how you use them up. Keto is now about what foods you can eat but about macros. It has been simplified for people however as it's easier for them to follow what they can or can't eat rather than measure macros. You're free to research it on your own.

      I agree you can eat those things on keto. All you need is for the macros to fit.
      Sometimes it requires making things from scratch.
      There are other things you can do if you accidentally go over your net carbs like drink more water and do some exercise to burn the excess off quickly.
      Unfortunately some people don't realise keto enough to know exactly what works.
      It doesn't have to be super strict to be keto. Like you said, it's about the net carbs.
      And the amount depends on the person's build.
      20g is standard but anything between 20 and 50 can still be considered keto depending on the starting weight of the person.
      My whole keto diet is vegan. You absolutely can do this with fruit and veg.
      Just be savvy what you use.
      My favourite things to make are salsa and avocado salad or tahini baked broccoli with ginger 😋
      If I want bread and don't want to make it, I buy a loaf by BeFree and serve it with the dairy free philidephia spread.
      My go to snack is pistachios since they have more fibre than carbs 😀

    I'm sorry you had an unpleasant keto experience. I research alot about nutrition. So if it may help here is why you had these problems.
    1-keto rash is a bile problem, easily fixed by consuming more lemon, beet tops, ginger or bile salts.
    2-All the dizziness is due to the disregulation of electrolytes in your cells. Consuming things like sea salt and potassium magnesium will help. This dizziness usually lasts 1-2 months some people don't even notice it. Sometimes it doesn't even ocurr.

    I have also been doing fairly strict keto for 2 months and have lost (MAYBE) 4 lbs tops. I have not weighed myself I'm going by how my clothes fit. I had planned to weigh myself when my "skinny" jeans became looser in the waist and legs. That never happened. On the flip side of the coin, my husband, who also needed to lose around 30lbs same as me, started keto with me and has even cheated and ate candy and corn on the cob a few times and the fat is falling off him. He has lost at least 20 lbs so far and his clothes are hanging on him. Meanwhile I still look like the Pillsbury Dough Girl 8:/......My daughter's boyfriend's 20th bday was yesterday and she got him a huge chocolate cake. It was sitting on the counter of my kitchen and at first, I covered it with a towel because chocolate plus cake for me is like crack for a crack addict. The cake finally won after I looked in the mirror at my manly looking protruding belly and huge 41" lower circumference that refuses to budge. My waist used to be tiny, I could not believe how small my tops and pants were after cleaning out a closet a few months ago. My 20 year old daughter thought they were the clothes of a young girl. Too small even for her and she is skinny. And this was when I was in my 30s!! I believe they are putting chemicals in the food to make us have metabolic disorder so that the fat on our body takes on a life of it's own and puts out hormones that prevent weight loss. It seems to effect mostly women because of our lack of testosterone or muscle. Anyhoo, I ate the DAMN CAKE!! I felt rebellious and GOOD doing it too!! Not losing weight after all that effort makes the cake look all the better! I mean why not? It's like i'm just spinning my wheels for nothing,.....I thought by now (March) I'd be back in my size 12 jeans and shorts (size 10 is my goal and I'm talking Old School size 10, not today's vanity size nonsense). I'm gonna keep trying because my only other option is to go back to eating their purposely poisoned Franken food. Now I know why the elite like to use the phrase "Let them Eat Cake".....Bastards.

      Reese Daniel you could be under eating if you arent eating 2,000+ calories for your body type your mind will send the body into a calorie storage machine since it thinks theres a famine and it wont be getting a lot of food basically your body will keep all the fat you want off of you

    Honestly thank you for this! I've suffered with an eating disorder since childhood and have spent a lot of my life underweight, although in the heights of my bulimia I was healthy weight, I've recently found myself sliding into binging, with intermittent restriction as my weight grows, which is far from ideal! I ended up weighing in with a bmi of dead on 25, I've never bordered in overweight before (and FYI I think all bodies are beautiful I just struggle with myself) I've been doing keto for a few days now and aside from keto flu I feel great!
    I'm eating lots if nutrients and not needing to restriction calories, so far so good! 😊
    Hoping this works so I can avoid backsliding into disordered eating!

    My conclusion is...
    Definitely not enough salt. Salt is super important. Salt salt salt. Not enough salt is way worse than too much. Not enough - you'll feel like shit. Too much - you'll be thirsty and pee it out. No, salt does not raise blood pressure. Carbs do. And salt adds to satiation, satisfaction, fullness.
    Definitely not enough fat. You should eat so much fat that you're satiated for hours. There can't be too much fat on keto. Fat is your main source of energy in keto. Fatty meat, fatty fish, olive/ avocado/coconut oils, cream cheese, unprocessed cheese, heavy cream and full fat dairy products (with caution, might cause inflammation), butter, ghee, lard, tallow, avocados, fatty nuts and seeds... So much to choose from. 75% of keto diet is supposed to be fat!
    Definitely not enough veggies!!!
    Yes they say to stick to 20 carbs per day. Veggies do not count towards that! Carbs from veggies do not spike your glucose and insulin. Eat as much non starchy lower carb veggies as you want. When you eat, half of the plate should be veggies!
    Girl, I'm not sure what kind of research you did, but it was not good. :D

      salt is keto essential? now that i think about you might be right. back when i did keto i switched out smoked salmon for regular salmon (did not go well) as it had seemed like taking out my only major salt intake had made me all drowsy. i was wondering why the smoked salmon, smoked specifically made me feel so good.

    hey sis! sounds like the negative effects are due to dehydration--- which will cause headaches, dizziness, and skin issues. make sure you're drinking plenty of water and incorporating more salt or using electrolytes to help with balance :)

    To those who think keto is just meat and eggs, nope. You can also eat salads of course but green leafy vegetables and I also eat bread, jams, cakes, donuts, chocolates, muffins, cheesecakes etc. But everything is keto. Most keto desserts are made of almond flour, nut milk, sugar substitute, berries, chocolates, eggs. I don't starve myself. It's all about creativity.

    Girl good job. ✅ however, the dizziness and bad feelings are probably due to the fact that you need to consume for sodium (meaning electrolytes), mantain yourself extremely hydrated, take vitamins, and reduce the consumption of bad dairy....try doing clean keto (eating more protein, lots and lots of greens and veggies) and I promise, you will feel better.
    The loss of energy on keto is not normal, you should be feeling the exact opposite (after 1 1/2 weeks)

    You may know this from other viewers of your own research but it absolutely sounds like you have an electrolyte imbalance and need to put some pink salt in your water snd drink more water in general. I had the same symptoms before adding electrolyte pills to my daily routine snd also I use Redmons pink salt. It’s at whole foods and online too, I’m sure. Thanks for your video!     If you're not generating key tones in your blood sugar is low this is dangerous as you need to get food and you some form of snack that's high in carbs that keto snack ASAP

    I had the same issue at first, I have low blood pressure as it is and keto lowers it even more. I started salting EVERYTHING, and drank a sugar-free electrolyte powder mix every day and that went away. Overall I was on it for 7 months. We all make mistakes when we're doing it the first time, and that's something not widely advertised about keto. I think that and keto flu generally make people quit early

      Yes, salt is super important! Not enough salt is worse than too much salt. To anyone wondering, salt does not raise blood pressure, carbs does.

    The reason you probably haven’t seen skin improvement during this time is because you probably didn’t drink enough water. I did some research (and from experience) and my research showed that drinking lots of water while dieting on any diet helps promote healthy skin.

      No diet makes you gain back the weight once you stop. Just don’t eat more calories than you burn. It’s that simple. People always want to Blame the diet when they choose to start over eating again.

      @@sweetcheeks5775 Yeah, like they do a diet and loose the weight, then go back to their old bad eating habits and expect to keep thin. If you go back to your old bad eating habits, you're going to become who you were before doing the diet. Duh! Diets like keto are supposed to become a natural day to day thing, a way of eating for life, they're supposed to teach you good eating habits, to teach you about nutrition and health, to stop the addictions to carbs or alcohol or overeating or whatever, and when you're at the desired health and weight and have good eating habits that work for you and help you achieve your goals, an occasional muffin or mojito or a piece of birthday cake will not hurt you. Just don't start eating whatever you feel like everyday.
      It irritates me that people don't get this.

We need to repent of our sins and turn to Him and start living for Him and He will be there with you every step of the way.

    You can replace meat for eggs and cheese!(also keto does that to you.you’ll feel really tired and water just goes through you.)
