    So you fabricated all your parts by hand, made your electrical plugs yourself, did all the math for the turbos, welded your own exhaust, polished your parts by hand. I know I've forgotten some things... You are a top notch mechanic, fabricator, welder, electrician. My hat is off to you. GREAT job. Thanks.

      Just woke, brought a mug of coffee back to bed and watched this. Fascinating, impressive, confusing, stressful and deeply satisfying simultaneously!! Your filming, editing, production and effective verbal-free narrative on a par with your engineering ingenuity.
      I got my first and only bike 3 years ago then did beginner and intermediate bike maintenance courses. Just enough to know I know very little! This and your other content a joy (though much of it looks like alchemy and sorcery to this layman!). It’s probably a good thing I don’t live in Arizona or you’d have to take a restraining order out on me to stop my head popping around the corner of your garage door and annoyingly asking “what are you doing now?!”
      I’ve got the relatively rudimentary jobs lined up of fitting my twin with a 2-1, cam upgrade and updated front and rear shocks, the least of useful lessons learned here being “steady as you go” and “prep your plan”. Thanks so much. 👍🏼✊🏼👏🏼

    13:20 i've been using those color coded, Harbor freight deep sockets on my drills for probably 15 years. Nothing super high torque just all basic, homeowner grade stuff, Oil changes, and fixing and assembling anything and everything under the sun. The best 17 bucks I've ever spent. i've been meaning to make a permanent holder for them, but they don't fall out of, but they are still on the holder. I bought them on in a swing case box in my truck bed.

      would be 0 improvement to power, if anything the engine would make less especially with each turbo running off a single cylinder, you can even hear that the turbines are barely spinning

    • @Frollicking_Gurnard
      @Frollicking_Gurnard ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@thomasodea8381 Even still, it would be a good comparison between stock and twin turbo with or without improvement. It looks like it's making decent boost though.

    • @DoctorMotorcycle
      @DoctorMotorcycle  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@thomasodea8381 Wrong, and comments like this are why Is started posting timed acceleration runs at the end of the video. A Yamaha Virago is a giant turd stock, putting on turbo's with low boost takes it from a giant turd to just a turd. I'm building another twin turbo setup on my GS400 that's going to be GT15 turbo's on a little 400cc bike. But this time, I'm converting the bike to E85 and running 15psi of boost. I'd like it to be able to crack 100 crank HP, which I think with enough boost (closer to 20psi) it could be done. And maybe I'll even throw it on the dyno just to prove clowns like you wrong.

  • @oculusangelicus8978
    @oculusangelicus8978 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    NOICE!!!! Gotta love the whine of the Turbos as they spool up and then spin down, a bit warm for the legs though being right close to the knees. Cool idea for the exhaust pipes I would have routed them below the bike but shoties out the side is a cool idea, but would get people pulled over by the cops on a regular basis in my part of the world. Gotta say the polished tank looks way better than I thought it would too! great job!

    • @JohnH20111
      @JohnH20111 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nice ! Very-relaxing to watch . I would add iridium-plugs and disconnect the rev-counter (not sure if you did, it takes pulse off rear-plug and depletes the spark ) I run my rear-plug one-grade hotter, goes-against logic but works in mine . You can also adapt a TT600 oil-pump to give better-flow and replace the crap-cam-bush-things for bearings which give more-consistent valve-clearances, lower-heat etc. The valve-springs on these early-bikes are way-too-heavy, better revs etc with later Virago-1100-springs, longer seat-life, no dropped-valves and cam-lobes last-longer . Dave NZ

    • @DoctorMotorcycle
      @DoctorMotorcycle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Negative, you don't want to run iridium plugs on a Turbo bike, the fine pointed tip gets too hot and can contribute to pre-ignition. I always run at least 1 heat range colder as well, sometimes 2 if I'm turning the boost up. Same thing with the valve springs, you need more seat pressure w/turbo, especially because it usually extends the powerband another 1,000rpm higher as well. Cheers.

    Great video, love your work but here's a tip for you that will make it easier to cut alluminium with an angle grinder. Get a wax candle and rub it on the disk while it is spinning so that it puts a coat of wax on the disk. Do it on both sides. It only take few seconds. It will cut cleanly and fast until the wax is gone and then you apply it again. You don't get all those burrs either.

    A better torch will make bending stuff easier. Get the propane/map kind with the big brass tip on it. The one you’re using is great for soldering like copper plumbing, but a propane/map torch nozzle heats way better, even with propane, but even a bit faster to heat the steel if you can find map gas for it (but may not justify the increased price of the map gas) but even with just propane, having a bigger torch head will pay for itself with the ease of bending hotter steel, with that little torch you’re just wasting propane cuz it’s not getting the steel hot enough, you won’t need to beat on it if it’s red hot you’ll be able to bend it with like pliers

    Wow twin turbos it reminds me when I worked for a Kawasaki dealer in NC. In the mid 80’s and he sold a turbocharged GPZ 750 . The fellow that bought it thought he would clean it up spic and spam , he spent almost a half hour shining it but he made one mistake. He sprayed armourall on the seat. Well if you think about it you already know what happened next, he took it out on a local high way to open it up and when he did he found himself sitting on an out of control rocket trying to use the taillight for a seat. After taking what was probably a second to gather himself and release the throttle he managed to get it stopped. I figured he probably coughed up his guts and then he returned to ask if we had anything to remove the armourall.

      That's exactly what they're great for is cleaning for engine work, and the big one is sweet because you can fit a rack of 4 carbs and inline four heads in them 👍

    Your tig work is getting pretty decent! But could be better with shorter tungsten and a smaller gas cup, you could also turn the gas flow down a little bit if you switch those things in.
