And if you want to brush up on or getting into manual shooting, this is the one. I can see this lens beeing a good match on the Zfc, i might just have to get one of those also.

    Great review of a very interesting manual lens! I totally love the TT Artisan 35/1.4, am very curious now about this 50/1.2!
    What really seems to stand out is the mechanics of these lenses, well-damped focusing, beautiful aperture ring etc. These TT Artisans feel just a bit better than the other "cheap" lenses it seems ...

    Excellent review as always and great photos. A minor quibble which would enhance my understanding of the key points you make - when showing comparison shots side by side it is often not clear which is shot by which lens unless reversing back to the beginning where you say it once. Can you label the photos or at least say "the Sigma lens on the left..." etc.

I watched quite a lot of his videos before switching to actual reviews from channels with people looking at all types lenses (especially vintage) and talking about contrast, micro-contrast, lens character and different bokeh types ... The good stuff you know !

      I mostly play with vintage lenses, and none are super sharp compared to modern lenses. I only have a XF16-80mm as a modern lens, which blows the others out of the water on sharpness. That said, when I go for the vintage lenses, I don't care about sharpness. I'm trying to do other things, and want a certain type of feel.

    Had to look up the procedures for adapting the SONY α6500 to manual focusing. For $98, a real bargain. With the advent of cameras that can get decent photos at ISO 5000, the major value of f/1.2 is decreasing depth of field, not low-light work. I could have used this lens when Panatomic-X was needed for 11 x 14 enlargements from 35mm.

    Hi, you mentioned, if you stop it down to f4, the sharpness is noticeably better. Since I am a newbie to photography, does that make the f1.2 lens equivalent to an f4 lens?

    • @basketcase1235
      @basketcase1235 ปีที่แล้ว

      f1.2 just means that is the brightest (or biggest) aperture available on this lens. basically all lenses have adjustable apertures, so this can also be an f1.4, 2, 2.8, 4 etc depending on where you set it.

    Hi. I have a Sony A6000 + Sony FE 50mm 1.8. I would like clear glass whether it has AF or not. I hesitate between the 7artisans 50mm f0.95 and the TTartisans 50mm f1.2. Will there be a big difference compared to the Sony 50mm 1.8 FE? The f1.2 light is already cool, is it worth paying extra 2x more to the f0.95 light? Thanks for advice. Greetings from the UK

      Both are excellent. This 50mm has a better focus ring and the declicked aperture which I prefer. Image quality is similar.

    • @frankyvee1
      @frankyvee1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MrYamazaky yes you can switch your camera to APSC mode and it will remove the dark corners. Just keep in mind you will also lose about ~10 megapixels of resolution but that's the takeaway. Same thing if you shoot in full-frame and manually crop the dark corners in photoshop.

    Hello ! I thank you for this review a lot !
    I saw your review of the Kamlan 50mm f1.1 but you don't talk about it in this one.
    So, what is your conclusion if I ask you to choose between Kamlan or the TTartisans ?

    • @ArthurR
      @ArthurR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The TTartisan is easier to use and focus. The Kamlan mkII is a great lens, but in my opinion not worth 2x the price.
