  • ▶ TTArtisan 50mm f1.2 Lens Review for the Sony a6000!
    Hey everyone! Another lens review, this time a TTArtisan 50mm f1.2. Really digging the lenses from them, and this one is no exception. Clicked aperture ring, great build quality, and a nice maximum aperture for the price! Let me know what you guys think of the photos. I may compare this lens to the Sigma 56, or other 50mm manual lenses for fun. Let me know!

      I know it's a bit out of your review style, but can you do a light/exposure shootout among similar focals some day? I am noticing that especially wide open when they have heavier vignetting, they tend to overexpose the center and push higher ISO compared to my native lenses. So Im wondering, are we getting all the f-stops with these lenses, how is vignetting affecting other settings, is their glass as transparent as other lenses... 🤔

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lenses can differ in a number of areas. Also your camera should be set to “multi spot” meter. That’s the most commonly used auto metering mode. I like to point out when lenses have noticeable vingetting. I do plan to do a “how focal length” affects the subject soon.

    Great review. Do you think this lens its good for making videos? or the quality or the manual focus makes it not good for it.

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Manual focus requires a lot of practice, but it can definitely be good for videos . A key is not not shoot at the lowest aperture all the time. In terms of a TH-cam video - like filming yourself - it wouldn’t be the best. I’d suggest an auto focus lens for self filming, but manual focus is doable.

  • @selder03
    @selder03 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As a noob.
    If this has a manual F stop. What do you set the camera to in M mode?
    Do you change the F and Apurature on the camera?

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In manual mode you have to adjust the 3 main settings depending on light available. Aperture, ISO, and shutter speed. You can use auto modes and aperture priority with a manual lens. The manual part will be the focusing.

I REALLY wanted to love it, and it's a great camera don't get me wrong, but it just doesn't check the boxes off that I want. No touch screen menu's (sony, please give it to us!), the viewfinder is...small, and I don't like the grip. 1.2 f stop? I didnt think it could get that low! Or is it higher? I can never remember!! 😆😆🙈 you may have already done this, but do you think you can do whats in your camera bag? Or if you have, you think you can do an updated version?

      F stop can go quite low! Even .95!
      I can certainly do an updated version. I did one over a year or two ago now.
      It’s a little bit of a learning curve. You can use focus peaking, which shows a color in what’s in focus on the screen (kinda like cheating! 🤪)
      I don’t have a ton of recommendations. I myself have wanted either lowepro or peak design bags. Never pulled the trigger as of yet.

      It’s where when you turn the focus ring, a color highlights what’s actually in focus on the screen. Say you choose yellow (out of yellow, white, or red). As you focus manually on someone’s eyes (turning focus ring) you’ll see the color yellow highlighting what’s in focus. Also yep, one of the next two videos will be on a lens with f0.95!

    Informative! Did you take your solo photo by yourself Kyle? If so, can you make a video how to take selfie using sony a6000 with any prime lens! 👍

      The one where I have a coat on, my fiancé took those. All the others were me, and I used the Sony image edge mobile app to take the shots. I’ve had a few ppl ask about that, I may do a short video on it soon! ✌🏻

    If that's how it shoots, I'd stick with my ugly "blur edging" mobile phone.
    Am I right to assume that so far, the most decent chinese lens is meike's 35 1.4 and brightin star's .95?

      The phone is more than ok if it’s what you have on you, but I’d say the quality with a lot of cheap lenses couples on the Sony a6000 are better. TT artisan 35 f1.4, Meike 35 f1.4, 7Artisans 0.95 series. But editing is a part of it as well etc.

      It's possible you got it for the wrong lens mount. should be for Sony E Mount.
