    My 5th gen Camaro SS with the Holley Lo-Ram on my SBE LS3 with CNC ported heads and GPI SS4 NFC cam loves the high rpm’s. With a 6L80E, it’s shifting at 7200rpms and the motor wanted to keep going in the higher rpms.

    The stock LS3 intake is very hard to beat -Richard Holdener

    Wanna see you do a video on that new 4 cylinder that uses a LS head. Would love to see a turbocharged version in an IMSA Monza tribute build.

    Ultra low for high rpm NA
    Hi ram for average power
    Mid ram for compromise

    Would have been good to compare it to factory LS3 manifold too.

      I agree, the factory LS3 is the best intake for the money. Would have been nice to see a baseline with it.

    Nice follow up video with Prestige. Last time the Fast LSXR with 102mm TB was better than the high ram. Would still like to see the Edelbrock Cross-Ram LS3.

      I would like to see a test of the cross-ram intake, as well.

      The edelbrock cross ram was the best for torque and average horsepower across the pull when Richard Holdener did his last manifold test.

    Great content mate, been following you for a long time now and you've got a great mix of topics👌
    Be interesting to see that mid rise dual plane with some contouring into the lower plenum.
    I'm tipping it would pick up the top end.
    Then with a pair of 650's or 750's for the old school crew🙂
    Great work👍

    I know it wouldn’t be an apples to apples comparison but I wish you guys had tested that mid rise with carbs to see the difference charge cooling can make on the bottom end. Great test I think I’d go with the ultra low for the money and the fit under a stock hood. Thanks for sharing the great info.

    How do you seal your intake manifolds on a BBC. I'm having issues where the runners are sucking up a little bit of oil. Do you put gasket maker on both sides of the gasket? If so what gasket maker do you use? I'm also getting small amounts of anti freeze that seeps out of the bolt holes past the bolts that are on the sides of the water jackets. What do you use to seal those threads? Thank you for your time and help.

    • @TheHorsepowerMonster
      @TheHorsepowerMonster  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can try a thin coat of Permatex Ultra Gray silicone on both sides of the intake gasket, and then for any bolts, just use liquid thread sealer. You can get the stuff in any autoparts store. Good luck!

    Longer runners are more torque. Shorter for higher rpms

  • @lukelikens2057

    I wonder if a throttle body that sprays fuel into the intake versus the injectors would that change your horsepower numbers too

    • @taylorsrus9543
      @taylorsrus9543 ปีที่แล้ว

      Small increase in power due to increased air cooling. Look up any carb vs EFI test.

  • @samstewart4807
    @samstewart4807 ปีที่แล้ว

    @9.16 Maybe you mean you are detonating the engine?? Because you dont want to spend the time required to set up the fuel and ignition curves to stop that???

    Buying aftermarket parts always comes with the risk, that the product in question is really only designed to sell.
    Don't ask me how I know.😎

  • @seanbragg1696
    @seanbragg1696 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dang was hoping youd use the spacer on the high ram

    • @TheHorsepowerMonster
      @TheHorsepowerMonster  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would have been a fun test. The thing about engines that's both great and infuriating is there are so many potential combos with all the different parts available that it becomes practically impossible to have any absolutes. For example, I think where the plenum spacer could really be a benefit is on extreme stroke engines. That extra piston speed per revolution of the crankshaft could probably benefit from extra volume in the plenum to feed the individual cylinders without having to pull more air through the throttle body. But am I going to build a complete engine just to find out? Nope! Thanks for watching

    • @seanbragg1696
      @seanbragg1696 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheHorsepowerMonster do a unbuilt engine with ultra low ram and spacer and high ram with spacer would be the test with a 103mm Msd air force throttle body so we know the advantage of strokers really are then if you feel there's real advantage in the money base run it or just talk no walk
