@@mikeramos91 imagine ram like this. You have a 24x48 in desk and you work just fine on it. Then you upgrade to a 32x60 desk. You find stuff easier and get your work done faster. Then you upgrade to a 32x72 desk now you don’t have to stack paperwork on top of each other and now you have space to put your drink and a healthy size plate of food while being extremely comfortable. The more cores and threads you have, the less ram you have per. 16gb for 8 cores turns out to be 2gb per core. Though you certainly can buy too much 128gb for gaming at 1080p is silly
16GB was good enough 5-10 years ago. Now you can easily eat up 16GB using just Windows, web browser tabs, and Steam even without gaming. Some overhead is also a nice to have since it strains the DRAM less as does running multi-channel configurations

Never played nice until I swapped them out with 3600 CPU's then 4 sticks ran great. On board memory controllers on Zen / Zen+ just didn't like as many ram configs as newer Zen2 / Zen3.

Can Tech make a comparison video for 16G vs 32G (or more) RAM? For things like time to boot, time to launch frequently used applications or games and general OS responsiveness? All I can find is gaming FPS-focused benchmarks, and those do not show the realistic use case at all. I'm currently thinking of upgrading my RAM (2x8G 3000 CL16) and/or CPU (R5 3600), but since I have an SFF build, upgrading RAM isn't as simple as just plugging in 2 more 2x8 sticks, so I'm a bit on the fence.
I have a b450 and a ryzen 2600x. I think it can do dual channel mode only. (2x8gb is installed now) So if you upgrade to 5800x or 5900x (on eBay about 400€ here) what will you do with the ram?
I guess I don't see the issue. I just bought the 5900X with only 16GB as well. Ram you can buy any time anywhere. CPU, not so much, at least not at retail prices. So I bought the 5900X as soon as it came back in stock (Once I decided I was going to upgrade from my 3700X)and ran that for the better part of a month. Just a week ago added an additional 16GB. Keep in mind, everyone has different priorities for what they want to do. I didn't find enough reviews to show that the extra 16GB ram was going to make a meaningful difference for games (only running a 5700XT) and decided to get the CPU before getting the ram. You seemed a bit out of touch when you berated the guy for not upgrading the ram at the exact time he upgraded the CPU.
No point in building a pc with 16 gb in 2021 unless you don't do anything on your pc. For my next build I'm jumping straight to 64 gb. I like to leave games open while working, have 70 tabs running, and have various other programs running at the same time!

I replaced my 32GB kit with a 64gb kit a few weeks before getting my 5900X, I also had a 360mm aio on a 2700 non X for 9 months because I thought I was gonna be able to go to the store and buy a 5900x when it launched... boy was I wrong! lol

Lol 64 gig gives you peace of mind that your computer will run smooth even when you have videos open, all that multiple crappy software to run rgb, multiple chrome tabs open, all that while playing games at 4k ultra. When I had 16 gigs I had to make sure everything was closed before playing games which was annoying lol
you would be amazed at the amount of ppl that has i9 and they're just using it for gaming, this is only surpassed by the amount of idiots that use expensive top tier phones just to take pictures, use social networks and watch youtube, I use 64GB of ram for work, I have another machine right here next to me, an i5 11400 with 32GB ram 3200mhz with a pdf reader and Chrome with 6 tabs open (3 of which are youtube), just one monitor, and the current ram consumption is: 11%, that's 3.52 gb ram, note that this particular machine has rainmeter installed, MSI dragon center, IDM and Nvidia control center, it's windows 10 pro MiniOS btw, which proofs that 1) normal windows sucks way too much resources, 2) if configured right, your PC doesnt have to consume that much, 3) if your main focus is gaming I would say 32gb ram right now is enough.
got the CASH?!.. then MAX out the motherboard memory slots to their limits. You'll won't need to worry about it. whatever the motherboard PCIe level is, attempt to maximize it for the CPU/GPU/SSD.. NOTE: As PCIe levels rise from 3.0/4.0 to 5.0, remember there'll be a day when trying to keep up with all the NEW component changes WILL be costly unless you really hunt hard for a deal... and BST will ALWAYS entice/encourage viewers to stay ahead of the game in the PC world.
I tried to upgrade my 16gb Corsair Vengeance 3200c16 kit to 32gb. Bought exact same brand / spec ram and it didn't work at all with XMP enabled, even attempting to lower speed and fiddle with a little extra voltage. Turns out they've gone through a 20+ hardware revisions over time. I will just eat the cost and upgrade all my ram in the future instead of trying to add sticks.
DDR5 will be much more expensive than current DDR4 pricing. You can't just add ddr5 kits to existing platforms either, you have to change your entire platform and CPU. It's fine if a user has extra disposable income...but there are many as well who do not.

BST, i have a gigabyte h370n wifi mobo and a i5-9600k. i HAD 16gb ram and wanted to go to 32GB and went down to best buy and got coasair rgb pro 3600mhgz ram.kit...$ 80 bucks, good deal!! but bad on my part the motherboard is CAPPED at 2666 ! grrrr I have to replace the motherboard with one that supports 3600Mhgz. to utilize that speed. any thoughts?? i thought XMP would utilize it but it is capped at 2666. even enabling profile 1 in the bios...... cpu-z says 2666 as well as task manager.
(2x8gb is installed now)
So if you upgrade to 5800x or 5900x (on eBay about 400€ here) what will you do with the ram?
Someone please tell me how much of a difference 2 16 gigs of ram and a single 32 gig. I’m seeing that apparently it’s worse and I have a single 32 and I’m scared I just wasted a bunch of money
That's why the system i recently built with a 5900x has 2x32gb 3600 so I don't have to deal with ram for a while.
personally started with 32gb of ram, and quickly went to 64gb for video and photo and video editting.
Well we will be going DDR5 soon enough. If price is an issue there might be an inflection point where DDR4 becomes reasonably cheap as manufacturers tool up for DDR5 production.
I’ve always thought my purchase of 32gb was pointless until I played new world and it’s using 15gb of ram at all times
5900X + 48GB, only use
depends on what you do with your PC. If you only use around 7+ GB of RAM, ur likely not heavy user or multitasker.
I use all of my 32gb ram with my cities simulation game. Getting another 32gb.
I keep thinking a nvme ssd would help. Im using a sata ssd WD Blue 500gb for the boot drive
I have 16GB Rams Kits 8+8 but I also accidentaly buy 32GB Ram Kits 16+16. They all Corsair Vegeance LPX would I run into problem if I connected 32 in Channels A and 16 to Channels B?
Mine: i9-10900, dark rock not pro, 64gb 3600, corsair rm850x, two nvme each 500 gb team group (1500 speed), and rtx 3060. Deepcool case with 5 bequiet 140 mm high speed fans. Am I missing sth or my pc is fine for now
Ah + gigabyte z490 vision g. I was looking for vision d but could not find one
asking why a guy with a 12c cpu why he have 16gb of ram is not the good question, the good one is that if he has been using 16gb fo ram until now, there is a very high probability he doesnt need 12c in the first place.
Ima wait til either alderlake
Or the next ryzen which supports ddr5 and I’m going for 32 gb ram
I replaced my 32GB kit with a 64gb kit a few weeks before getting my 5900X, I also had a 360mm aio on a 2700 non X for 9 months because I thought I was gonna be able to go to the store and buy a 5900x when it launched... boy was I wrong! lol
It only took him about half the length of the whole video to answer. Prior to that it was his usual sarcasm! 🤦♂️🙄
I had 64gb on my 2700x. No reason not to have it on a 5900x.
I got 64 gigs of Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 3600 Ram with XMP enabled with my 9900k. I have two more slots so I could upgrade to 128, but 64 seems overkill as is.
Yea 64gb won’t be needed for gamers probably in about 5 years
Bought 32 gig of ram for my 5 4600g that does not run at 3200 and no one seems to know why. 2667 only.
Did you watch this video by any chance? RAM Troubleshooting Tips - What You Can Try - th-cam.com/video/HfntpbKnxN8/w-d-xo.html
@@ByteSizeTech HP prebuilt. No settings in BIOS for that. 12 gig of Samsung ram pre installed ran at 3200.
should i get 32gb for a 1000 dollar 10400ff build?
You definitely should
what if he's not a heavy user tech, he just has money? :D
Imo 48 is the way to go
Lol 64 gig gives you peace of mind that your computer will run smooth even when you have videos open, all that multiple crappy software to run rgb, multiple chrome tabs open, all that while playing games at 4k ultra. When I had 16 gigs I had to make sure
everything was closed before playing games which was annoying lol
future proof as well. I guess you can say.
I have a10100 and that needs 32gb. they are cl18 3200 4x8gb. kit. It helps the rtx3060
When is the next livestream?
you would be amazed at the amount of ppl that has i9 and they're just using it for gaming, this is only surpassed by the amount of idiots that use expensive top tier phones just to take pictures, use social networks and watch youtube, I use 64GB of ram for work, I have another machine right here next to me, an i5 11400 with 32GB ram 3200mhz with a pdf reader and Chrome with 6 tabs open (3 of which are youtube), just one monitor, and the current ram consumption is: 11%, that's 3.52 gb ram, note that this particular machine has rainmeter installed, MSI dragon center, IDM and Nvidia control center, it's windows 10 pro MiniOS btw, which proofs that 1) normal windows sucks way too much resources, 2) if configured right, your PC doesnt have to consume that much, 3) if your main focus is gaming I would say 32gb ram right now is enough.
Wow what a set of nashers on that fella.
better performance for 4 slots on Ryzen
true. quad channel. From what I remember hearing about that.
BUT.. that depends
got the CASH?!.. then MAX out the motherboard memory slots to their limits.
I bought my 5900x for the price of a 5800x. I run 32g trident but want 64.
I haven't done ANY video editing this year but that is my excuse why I have a 5900x and 64gb of ram lolol
When you have something to edit you will get it done in no time!
I guess you are one of the few that bought an overkill pc & doesn’t take advantage of it 🤷🏻♂️
I tried to upgrade my 16gb Corsair Vengeance 3200c16 kit to 32gb.
I did that too last year, with a ryzen 3600. Same issue with XMP, but I just set the timings and speed manually and worked like a charm
I like this guy he has strong teeth
32 gb is new 16 gb, ppl deal with it.
Forza horizon 5 already have 16gb in recommend ram....
I bough 2 kit of the exact product (same numbre) and they dont work together...
what CPU? i have bought 2 separate 2 x 8GB kits for the last 3 years no issues on any intel or AMD build.
o kurwa ilon mask
I wouldn't buy any and wait for ddr5
DDR5 will be much more expensive than current DDR4 pricing. You can't just add ddr5 kits to existing platforms either, you have to change your entire platform and CPU. It's fine if a user has extra disposable income...but there are many as well who do not.
@@marcc5768 but if you don't have disposable income going more than 16gb doesn't make much sense
@@nostrum6410 true to a point, it still "depends" on what a user is doing with their PC. Example : an office use PC I would say 8GB is enough. For a user that has a game open, Chrome open with a few tabs I'd say run 16GB. But for those that have 1-3 games open, Chrome with 15+ tabs, Discord open, a media player running and say dual-monitor shoot for 32GB or more. Myself I know what it's like to run outta RAM my office/surfing PC is only on 4GB right now. I recently order a Xeon e5-2650 v2 bundle from AliExpress with 16GB ddr3 1333MHz ECC in quad channel to run LInux Mint. Since with my accounting software open 2 browsers open with 2 tabs each my current office/surfing PC hits close to the 4GB. I'lll go to to 32GB (4x 8GB) ddr3 1600MHz ECC down the road, since it's more affordable than being on x99 with ddr4. I find LInux does better with RAM usage vs Windows.
