Try it. No question. Either it works or it doesn't. Regardless, you'll need to neutralise the alkali (a nice white vinegar or whatever bath followed by an ipa bath) then clean & strip it back, replace the sockets, paint on new mask etc. You'll probably need to redo the vias too, since the solder will be corroded and doped with goo. But def try it first.
@@8BitRetroReFix The board looks surprisingly good, I must say. The CPU socket has to be replaced, and perhaps the DIN connector as well, but the rest of the board is probably fine. But I absolutely would NOT suggest powering it up without thoroughly testing the PSU first, preferably with some dummy loads. AFAIK the A2000 PSU is a switch mode design, which makes it less of a risk than the linear ones, but nevertheless: A PSU sending voltages that are too high into a board can do ridiculous amounts of damage.
@ser_olmy PSU popped and smoked on testing it.. it was only on for a few seconds, lol . now to repair that before trying to boot the MB .. can't see no rifa in the PSU .. had enough for night. Beer and feet .. its looking hopeful for it to fire up s in part 2 .. Fingers crossed 🤞
@@ser_olmy Sure it's better to NOT powering it now, first check the sockets (cpu & rom at least) and replace those. Then check the PSU and / or try an ATX psu with an adapter for Amiga (remember the Tick jumper as Agnus would provide the right signal).
Fire it up, whats the worst that can happen ..... looks like the varta fluid has capillaried under the solder mask quite a way into the board, thinking you may need to siak the board in something that neutralises the varta fluid or strip back the mask :(

Yeah, it's looking that way .. need to make sure the psu is good first ...
I would say power it up see if it works after a good clean then add some protection if it's exposed anything great video 🎉🎉
Yeah im feeling that way ... Lets see what everyone else says :) ..

Come on, Chris. Rev 4 is not that awfull... I just spent around 20 hours to fix one of two - and now I fear to fix the second... 😆😜
Good video! Looking forward to following this one. Board looks a bit crusty but there’s life in it yet
Yeah .. i think it stands a good chance of booting. Let's see what happens in Part 2 😉 .Thanks for watching
Clean it and power it up :) It looks like you were pretty lucky with VARTA "power" this time :) Cheers!
