VN24 - Serious accident - Coach crashes on highway A44 into ditch

- VN24 - 28-03-2024 (D/M/Y) - Unna/Werl - Germany - During the night from Thursday (March 28) to Friday at around 11:05 p.m., a serious traffic accident involving a coach occurred on the A44 highway between Unna and Werl. A total of 21 passengers were injured. One person was seriously injured. According to the information available so far, the coach was carrying a group of students from a vocational college on the A44 eastbound towards Kassel on its way back from England to Warburg (Germany). Between the Unna and Werl junctions (kilometer 135), the bus veered off the road to the right. There it hit the crash barrier protruding from the ground, causing the bus to overturn onto its right side in the embankment area. As far as is known at present, there is no danger to the life of the seriously injured person. 39 passengers remained uninjured. The fire department and police were on the scene with a large contingent to rescue and treat the injured from the vehicle. Requested ambulances and two articulated buses took the injured and other occupants to nearby hospitals and also to the Unna fire station. The Dortmund police accident investigation team took over the accident investigation. According to initial findings, the accident was preceded by a medical crisis involving the 53-year-old bus driver.

Die Leitplanken sind für PKWs optimiert. Kein Wunder, dass die Busse seitlich darüber rollen bei dem höheren Schwerpunkt.
Sie sollten dringend ihre Beobachtungsgabe prüfen. Der Bus ist mitnichten über die Leitplanke gerollt, sondern hat diese hinterfahren und ist dann erst umgekippt. Aber Hauptsache man hat einen polemischen Kommentar von sich gegeben.
@@lemmy2315 Aus der Videobeschreibung: "Dort geriet er auf die aus dem Boden ragende Schutzplanke, wodurch der Bus im weiteren Verlauf im Böschungsbereich auf die rechte Fahrzeugseite kippte."

Nice night lens VN24 think you should carry on as it gave a sharp video. What on earth were the fire brigade doing , took enough of them to steady the bus, would have been better leaving it to professional recovery teams . Glad no one killed. Looking fwd to seeing the real recovery on the next video .John .
Presumably they were checking that there was no one underneath it.

Je vois que le car a toujours ses feux de position et clignotant. Hors, en cas d´accident on doit couper la batterie.
Personnellement, sur un autoroute, avec mon car,j´étais en train de doubler un poids lourd qd tt a coup,une mercedes m´à double par la droite et a réussi à passer entre nous. Que se serait-il passe s´il avait buté ma roue droite??? On aurait dit : Encore un accident de car....( et non de bus...)

Eines der üblichen Abschleppunternehmen hätte die Bergung mit 5 Leuten in einem Viertel der Zeit erledigt.

So kurz hintereinander schwere Unfälle mit Reisebussen😢 wir brauchen eine Gesetztesverschärfung und müssen Sicherheitssysteme schneller verpflichtend machen und mehr Kontrollen!
Was willst du gegen einen medizinischen Notfall des Fahrers damit erreichen? Der kann vor ein paar Wochen seinen Gesundheitscheck gemacht haben und trotzdem passiert sowas. Einen ähnlich tragischen Fall hatten wir erst vor nicht allzu langer Zeit.

Genau,ab sofort dürfen Reisebusse nur noch auf der Standspur von den Fahrgästen geschoben werden,die aber selbstverständlich mit Airbagwesten ausgerüstet sein müssen,beim schieben.Zusätzlich müssen Reisebusfahrer alle 30 Minuten 1 Stunde Pause einlegen,damit die Fahrgäste nicht zu stark beansprucht werden.
