- VN24 - 22.09.2022 - Gevelsberg A1 / Germany - Unbelievable luck had the 48-year-old driver of a car transporter after he had hit a semitrailer at the end of a traffic jam for reasons that are unclear as always. The fact that he managed to steer his transporter a little to the left before the collision gave him enough space to miraculously survive this horror accident. He had to be cut out of the wreckage by the fire department and was airlifted to an emergency hospital by rescue helicopter with serious injuries. After several operations, he is on the way to recovery, according to police. The accident occurred at around 3:50 p.m. on the A1 freeway in the northbound direction, when a truck in front of him came to a halt due to traffic a few meters behind the "Klosterholz" service area. The directional lane had to be closed for the time of the accident until well into the evening hours.

If we did not have auch a big amount of heavy crashes we wouldn‘t have to be that organized. Germany is a country with a lot of transit traffic, much of this traffic is caused by trucks crossing the country from South to North, West to East and the counterdirections.

Ich habe mal vor 30 Jahren die ganze Nacht bei Frankfurt gestanden als ein Fahrer im Führerhaus verbrannt ist. Ich habe solche Schreie noch nie gehört... Und dann gibt es Leute die sich beschweren das die linke Spur nicht frei gemacht wird... Da träume ich manchmal heute noch von.
Ich möchte Wette das du , wenn du das erlebt hast, dein eigenen Fahrverhalten angepasst hast. ich war in Erding auf Lehrgang (Bundeswehr). Hatte meinen Führerschein gerade ein halbes Jahr und ein paar hundert Meter vor mir ist eine Familie vom Weg abgekommen und gegen einen Brückenpfeiler gekracht. Alle Tot, darunter 2 Kinder davon eines ein Baby. Ich sah die Tränen in den Augen der Rettungssanitäterin. Ich war drauf und dran meinen Lappen zu zerreißen.

Wie es aussieht hat der Transporterfahrer (orangenes Auto) im allerletzten Moment noch nach links steuern können und das hat ihm sehr wahrscheinlich das Leben gerettet. Ich hoffe es geht ihm (einigermaßen) gut heute und er hat das verarbeitet.

At the beginning of the video the way the shot was angled it looked like the accident was the blue SUV on the back of the trailer and I was like it's not that big of a deal like the cab is totally intact I'm not surprised that he lived and then they showed the other side of the accident scene and I realized it was the transporter. So crazy.
I also want to note that the driver's there are incredibly respectful of emergency workers! Look at all those people pulled off to the side of the road so that fire trucks police and ambulances can get through! Here in America that highway would be gridlocked and police would have to either get on the on-ramp and drive the opposite direction to get to the accident or driving the grass because no one would let them buy. I see it all the time. Fire trucks stuck at red lights because the car in front won't move anywhere.
In Germany you can get up to 280 Euro fine for not building a corridor for emergency units plus two "penalty points" and one month you´re banned from driving. The penalty points you get are noted in a central register were all our local driving licens offices have access to. Depending on the violation you are getting up to three of these Points. If you are getting to much of them you are permanently banned from driving. I think only up to 8 Points are possible before getting banned. But the points can expire, the time variate also depending on the violation between 2 and 5 years.
Are in the U.S. no laws like this? I mean, i watch sometimes Dashcam footage here on youtube which is obviusly recorded in the u.s. and often i am shocked how often stupid acciedents happen. And i am also wonder about how often the initiator of the acciedent flees from the scene but also witnesses of the accident don´t care and they drive away. Why is this so? I mean, i can explain myself that an initiator flees, maybe he´s drunk, stoned or he has no insurance but why are so often no one willing into helping the victims?
@@christianschramm4489 It's no secret that there are very many horrible drivers here in the states. It is incredibly easy to get a drivers license here and there are virtually no penalties for poor driving. It's also very uncommon that you would see anybody's license get revoked. You would have to have caused many major accidents and/or have driven while intoxicated too many times to ever get your license revoked. I personally think there is a major problem here with driving culture. There are too many people here that simply don't give a shit whether or not they are being a safe or competent driver because nobody here will give them any kind of actual punishment. This is why so many people flee from accidents as well. No punishment.
that way of splitting traffic to let emergency vehicles through is called the "Moses principle" (taken from the Bible where Moses split the Red Sea)... in many countries in Europe, if you don't give them space they'll write down your license plate number and you'll get a fine and/or a summons to court in the post later... and a lot of traffic offense are linked to a point-system... above a certain number of points you lose your license (usually for a set period of time)... and if you drive without a license, in a lot of European countries you're no longer insured (and if you drive without insurance then the car you drive when apprehended by the police will be taken from you and can only be retrieved if you show a valid license (a revoked license isn't valid) and proper insurance...)
That should buff right out. MAn, this dude is lucky. Great job by rescue and wreak personnel. Thank god he will be ok and that he didn't have a passenger with him.

Incredible that the driver survived this! But I also guess that the trucker must have had a lot o fsleepless nights afterwards after someone hit his truck in the back and seeing what the result was.

Eins frage ich mich aber: warum wird der Sattelzug mittels Abschlepper vorgezogen (09:00)? Der hat garantiert keinen Schaden am Antrieb und hätte bestimmt aus eigener Kraft vorgefahren werden können. Außer dem Karrosserieschaden am Heck des Aufliegers dürfte nicht viel mehr kaputt genagen sein, was man von dem Transporter nicht sagen kann.

Interessant finde ich, dass hier quasi bis zum Schluss die Fahrbahn voll gesperrt war. Nach entsprechender Vorarbeit hätte man zumindest die linke Spur freimachen können. Sicher genug wäre das immer noch.
Damit man den Egoisten und Ignoranten auch noch freie fahrt gibt, damit die Hilfskräfte gefährdet werden.

У Ивеко есть один неоспоримый козырь - надёжность. Во всём остальном - довольно убогий авто, от модернизации к модернизации.
Пассивная безопасность обеспечивается только наличием рамы, кабина/кузов несут чисто декоративную нагрузку.
Тот же Спринтер, объективно, отработал бы лучше.
P.S. А что у поляка с подушкой? Сомневаюсь, что с горящей лампой, он смог бы рассекать по Германии. Значит - подушки в руле давно уже нет.

it's in mainland Europe, everything is left-hand drive (apart maybe from Gibraltar since that's UK territory)... as a driver you tend to steer yourself away from trouble... if it'd been a right-hand drive it'd very likely be a mirror image...

I thought that it was interesting at 5:40 that the deck mounting for the tire strap on the back left hand side failed (as noted by the yellow circle of the traffic investigation). I'm guessing that the manufacturer should take note of that and try to "new and improve" it. Not that it caused any catastrophic things in this instance but next time might be different.

If you are talking about the two cars the van was towing, it's because they have no license plates. In Germany, it is forbidden to drive a car without a license plate.

W moich rejonach jest taki Delikwent co lata takim zestawem przywozi auta na katy, wiadomo. 😁 Kiedyś tak sobie myślałem kiedy on śpi w domu, jak co chwilę widzę pod chata nowe auta. Siano tylko się liczy nie ważna rodzina, kasa musi się zgadzać. 😁 No po jakimś czasie o uch mo się odbiło lata cały czas na cyklu ( mefedron) 4dni jeździ bez snu 6h się prześpi i lata dalej, trochę już zajechany od tych zabiegów 😁 to jest choroba pieniężna 😂

So the tow truck which already had a car on it, was also towing that six wheeled trailer, crashed into the back of the articulated lorry, from what we can see here it very much looks like the crashed tow truck was over laden even with an empty trailer, it looks like the crashed tow truck was wholly inadequate to tow that amount of weight in the first place albeit the trailer it was towing was braked. That tow truck driver was well lucky to have survived.
The loading capacity of an Iveco towtruck this size is at least around 1.5 tons, plus a towing capacity of 3.5 tons if the trailer has brakes. The Suzuki WagonR+ loaded on the truck is less than 1 ton. Triple axle trailers like that one shown in the video are mostly classified with a total capacity of 3.5 tons and a loading capacity of around 2.5 tons. The Dacia Duster should be somewhere around 1.4 tons and the Toyota Yaris somewhere around 1 ton. That should fit the requirements. 🤔
It was not overloaded. Do you see the rear-axle of the crashed truck? This is not a 3,5 tons truck. I guess 5,7 tons or 7,5 tons truck. 5,7 tons truck can take a load up to 2 tons, trailer is allowed to have 150% of weight of the towing truck. a 9 metres trailer like this has an empty weight of 600 -900 kg, both cars maximum 2,5 tons to 3 tons. the Suzuki on the truck I guess 1 ton. Here was not overloading the problem but missing attention to the traffic, I guess.
