    I feel so strongly about this game I love seeing positive reviews about it. It really changed how I think about RPGs....I had about 200 hours by the time I moved on to another game but I think of it fondly. That OST is fire too lol

      Okay, I'm 9 months late, but I really don't understand this sentiment.
      The world has plenty in it, so honestly, my best guess is stuff is kinda empty between major locations, frankly I think that's the smartest design choice the game made.
      The empty space between locations makes it so the locations themselves easily stand out amongst the environment. Due to long view distance given to the player, locations are interesting are easy to spot and head towards. On top of that, you know there will always be something in those locations.
      If the game was more dense, then people would end up ignoring locations, instead of heading to the next place on the horizon.

    • @MinecraftMartin
      @MinecraftMartin 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jaydonthewarrior636 I agree. It doesn't feel empty in a negative way to me.
      I can't imagine how stuffing the roads with more caves and people would enhance the experience. It would just feel too cluttered.
      But we all get to have our games. If you want a busy and cluttered world, thankfully tons of games have that.
      For those of us who enjoy more breathing space, and locations being more rare and special, we get games like Outward.
      I'd honestly be upset if it became less empty. It just seems hard to find games that fit this niche.
      The developers themselves said this game is aimed toward the niche market who wants harder decisions and less forgiving atmosphere.

    And now there is Definitive Edition that just gathered everything together and blended all the content together, added some polish and a little sprinkle of new content here and there. Delightful game.
    You can pay runes teacher to streight-up tell you some of the combinations, idk if he talks only about basic ones or mentions lantern lightning bolt too. Cool thing I'd like they mentioned more "outspokenly", so to say, is that runes you use have meanings and combinations are based on that. Once you know that you can roughly deduce what those meanings are by messing with combinations and observing their effects. With that knowledge rune combinations make a lot of sense and become rather intuitive.

    This game is quite magical, indeed. I have almost 500 hours on it. Still haven't beaten it, not even close.
    This is a game that I have played with both my sons(14 and 7). My brother in law, and my wife.
    Game just so good, that not even doing the main quests at all, just traveling and collecting gear, dungeon delving, getting silver for skills. All great times.
    The survival mechanics and punishment from a simple mistake are miles high rewarding.

    Great video! I am always happy with I see such a positive take on Outward. This is one of my favorite games of all time. I love everything about it. I would say that it has its quirks and "issues" like the combat and skill mechanics could feel janky at times and there are some hitbox shenanigans going on. Some of the AI /for the bandits/ for example is not the best. But regardless of these "issues" the game is amazing and offers a ton of replayability with an open-ended story lots of lore to explore and speculate about. Great video once again! Keep it up

    As far as the armed forces are concerned, there is no such thing as "serving your country". You're serving the government, who are serving large corporations. 100's of billions of dollars a year are awarded in contracts to Lockheed Martin Corp, Raytheon Technologies Corp, General Dynamics Corp, Boeing Co, Northrop Grumman Corp, Analytic Services Inc. Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc, Humana Inc, BAE Systems and L3Harris Technologies Inc. The military industrial complex is alive an booming, business is good. And guess who's paying the bill? YOU are. You're paying for those drones that miss their targets more often than not. YOU are paying for the weapons that murder innocent women and children. Want to actually serve your country? Join the National Guard or the Coast Guard.

    I play outward with my 8 year old daughter. I do all the crafting and cooking, she's the wrecking ball. We have a double sigil mage build going that just absolutely kicks ass. You may have heard of sigil stacking, like casting spark on a stacked wind and fire sigil casts a lightning explosion and a fireball. Well, in co-op both players can cast spell in each other's sigils. It's pretty broken, often a confusing mess, and totally fun.

      I would say it's the combonation of the freedom with the trial and error crafting where you can make anything you want just through experimenting. But perhaps mine craft isn't exactly the best comparison, even though I can see where he's coming from. I'm not exactly sure what I would compare it to either besides maybe a daggerfall-lite with souls-esque combat?

    • @SoGoodContent
      @SoGoodContent  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really it’s just the trial and error crafting along with the intensive focus on crafting, the later of which is pretty broad

    • @Mario7p
      @Mario7p 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SoGoodContent for me what sets it apart from the minecraft genre is the fact that you cannot build anything. crafting is common in RPG games, but no minecraft game can be lacking in "basic resource gathering" and "base building". And Outward lacks both core mechanics. Games like Valheim or Grounded fit the bill better, Outward is just the classic RPG formula with some light survival mechanics added on top.

    I just started playing this game the other day, and it reminds me of the3 games of old I started PC gaming back in the Commodore 64 times and most game after that time where you know nothing and have to figure it all out, the one thing is that now days you have the internet which you can cheat and look online or just watch other play top get an idea of what o do or not to do . I am spoiled now 30+ years later gaming because now I can look online for answers which in some ways is cheating but even doing that in this game it still is hard to play hehe.
    I mean I started for times and gave up restarting again and just accept that I lost everything and have to just keep going see what going on then maybe after a while restart .

    Sounds like a choir to play, I like survival games but pocket weight distribution is just stupid. Pointless mechanics like that is what turned me off to Scum. I don't want to spend a third of my time in my inventory.

    Great review. I keep coming back to this game despite many rage quits. There are just so many different ways to play it. Plus, now that I know about a ton of end level bosses I've not killed I have to keep going. Apparently not many people know about these hidden bosses. I can see more rage quits in my future. I'll need a new bottle of ashwagandha.

    Did you actually play the game or did you improvise this shit ? Guess I'll have to fix this joke of a review :
    1:19 Outward frustrating ? What ? The game isn't difficult in the slightest. Combat is exploitable, and survival aspects are just there for the atmosphere without ever becoming a problem.
    1:44 The game does have a tutorial in the menu. How you managed to miss it is beyond me.
    2:21 "A ridiculously unforgiving attitude toward mistakes" ? Really ? You loose nothing but time when passing out, and you usually have plenty of it. Outside of quests death has 0 consequences.
    2:26 "Serious debuffs that are going to require crafting, rest and a lot of careful attention". Or just sleep, that's it, it's not a big deal. There is one debuff that's permanent, and it's locked behind the three brother DLC map, which is designed for mid to late game characters. Everything else lasts a few minutes at worse.
    2:54 Except it doesn't. Souls game are PVPVE games focused on well designed (in PVE only) combat with somewhat challenging difficulty. Outward is about exploration and making builds to nuke end game bosses.
    2:59 Did you just fucking compare Outward with ARK and Minecraft ? They are nothing alike, not even close in both combat or survival elements.
    4:24 No you won't die in "one or two hit". This is a lie, plain and simple, unless you're sabotaging your character by wearing rags or by having too much mana.
    5:22 Ark is challenging, but Dark Souls difficulty is mostly just marketing.
    6:09 Ah yes, the intense difficulty when I stunlock a mob or a boss with sweep kick, which is a 50 silver skill any character can use. Or when I spam fireball, which any character can get for free, to nuke bosses.
    6:59 Melee combat is horribly clunky and unreliable even when played the "intended" way, instead rewarding cheese and brain dead tactics. If that's what you call a solid foundations... I don't even know what to tell you, this should be common sense.
    Not going to bother watching more, this review makes 0 sense.

      Nah, you didn’t play the same outward I played. I died countless times to cold and infection, even when next to a fire or after sleeping. In the beginning of the game you are most definitely able to die from 2 hits, or anytime if you get debuffed. No consequence for death?! I lost cierzo, a whole town, because I died. There was times when I died and went to prison, where I then challenged the guards. They beat my ass and put me back in the cage. You can also play hardcore if you want permanent consequence. You probably abused wiki or always look for the cheesiest way to play the game.

    • @leoscar9816
      @leoscar9816 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JAYxVOID You don't "loose Cierzo" because you die, that's a consequence of failing to complete a quest before progressing the main story.
      The guard in Vendravel beat your ass ? Okay cool story bro, and ? You can die as much as you want if anything you'll get lucky and throw outside of the prison.
      Once more a keyboard warrior who talks without actually playing the game.

      @@leoscar9816 People have different experiences at the start of the game. Not everyone enjoys dying over and over until they get lucky or eventually find a way to win. It’s cool if you didn’t have the same experience and I respect your opinion. Hopefully the devs see opinions like this and it helps make the game more enjoyable. My comment was describing how I felt at the beginning of the game and it lacked clarification. Outward is terribly easy for me now but I find ways to make it fun. I learned that you can block and attack at the same time instead of trading hits like an idiot. It may not be a likely scenario, but I hope you come to enjoy this game as much as I do one day.🙌
