I have played Outward more than Skyrim by now. I love it because it rewards replayability exploration and exprementation. I also like that you dont start with magic and mana and have to find where you unlock it. Defenitive edition combines the base game with the two DLCs and makes it into one complete experience.
Been playing it for years on PS4. It's a gem. Honestly like this deeper mix of elden ring and with survival aspects. And Soo much weapon focus. Like your weapons you pick up and wanna use you'll have to create a whole new character build to use it at full you know. It's Soo deep. Great game.also one tip. Plant tents make it Soo you don't need to eat or drink. For however long you wanna sleep or repair. And blue butterflys mean there's zero chance of a invasion while you rest.

You can outright fail the first quest of buying the lighthouse by dying and getting a bad result that forces up to 3 days to pass before you continue. "I didn't understand the part with the friendly immaculate." Did you talk to him? He kinda explains his whole thing.
tbf, drinking water, while it does alleviate thrist, also gives you a certain amount of stamina regen which is good to have when you're running or fighting in general, and eating, usually you'd be chugging down soups or eating full course meals as they give you a combination of either health, stamina, or mana, (ocean fricassee does all 3!) so usually thirst and hunger are things you don't have to worry about.
Yeah I got the game at launch. Was a ton of fun, played it with my wife. I had two playthroughs; one split screen with my wife and one solo. My split screen game, we went into a castle or something early on that was way harder than we were ready for, and I found a big hammer and used it for the whole game. Was great! My solo playthough I went with a bow because god knows I didn't want to learn mechanics.
I’ve been plying outward for years. I always come back to it at least one a year. One of my absolute faves. There’s something i feel like I can never put my finger on but it is so special.
The reason that is, is so one person can choose their own faction quest line. If I want the blue chamber rewards I'd be fucked if my friend made us both start doing the holy kingdom of levant quest line and I'd have to make a whole new character

Just started it last night and was surprised by how easy the game is, I’ve died once to a shrimp but I feel as though the enemies ai are quite easy to manipulate, 8 hours in and I’m having a blast though!
if you get a mace and talk to the town guard at the front gate before you ever leave you can learn mace infusion free. it allows you to block an enemy magic attack and absorb its element into your mace for a short time.
Haven't played it in a long time, but used to have a rune mage that was OP untouchable. But I had made mistakes in the storyline and lost access to some important things. Love this dynamic that quests are timed and there are real consequences in the world if you ignore them.

This game isn't intended to be like usual games, and it's definitely not for everyone, but your statement about the combat is flat out wrong. It's far more methodical and slow, with most of the battle being your preparation and tactics to exploit your opponents or your strengths, rather than the actual fighting itself. It's not your usual 3rd person action game where as long as you have good equipment, you can rush into any battle and whack things till they die. That's the entire thing about Outward in general: Is it different? Very. Is it bad? Absolutely not

Rune magic - ez mode Traps and pressure plates - ez mode Magic(fireballs etc) - slightly harder, you'll get wrecked if you're not prepared Magic/melee hybrid- you'll be your own worst enemy trying to switch back and forth Melee only no magic - Chaddius.
Got this game while it was fresh out on release. it's been a blast ever since even though I've had to redo my file verification a couple of times Watching friends characters Ragdoll while I'm trying to rez them on my screen and they're just sliding across the entire map Zone it always makes our day 😂
Thank you for this review.. Coming from ESO, this game is in a different league.. Difficulty wise.. Got hammered by a bird first time i wandered outside the starting city..After some hours, well maybe a bit more than some :) it revealed several "dungeons" and a lot of hidden arenas, where you (and your co-op friend) get a good beating. Died many times to bleed, hyena bites, cold, heat, poison, thirst, etc etc. The game graphics isn't looking very pretty (well skies actually looks pretty awesome now and then). But the feeling when you overcome some hard fight is incredible. As told, you're not levelling, you actually get better knowing your enemies better and grabbing weapons and armour on your way. The game even encourages you to start new characters. they can loot legacy chests with armour or weapon left by your earlier created characters.
Just use magic my guy it's broken get 50 gold get mana get lantern buy flamethrower spell and bam your first ten hours is done it's bec people done research or take the time to learn mechanics I have over 58 hours in this game and I absolutely love it the game Is only HARD in the beginning but once you find the rhythm and get some powerful equipment you can fight most things pretty easily

OMGosh! I've put in about 600 hours into Outward. First and foremost you need to understand that Outward is reminiscent of old school RPGs. There are no quest markers because old school RPG's didn't have quest markers. When the game first launched it didn't have a quest log because old school RPG's didn't have quest logs. You had to get a note book and take notes. Look. SO many RPGs these days stop just short of being a point and click closed-world CD-ROM completely void of replay ability, exploration and experimentation. My first play through was as a bow user who Shot the bad guys and pulled them in to traps. One of my most fun play throughs was as a fire knight with a grate sword and fire magic. My next play through I'll be using a guitar to beat totems and letting the magic from the totems hit the monsters While dodging their attacks.

i played outward at launch was a great game but after the devs normalized the weapons it became a mediocre survival game i havent played it since the update. the og version of the game is the best and the only version i like to play.
The only true coop medieval rpg that exist out there , fun game with a lot of replayability , also very fun to replay with mods too as there are plenty.

Even in low quality, my graphics card and my CPU heat up too much while I'm barely at the title screen. AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.60 GHz 32 GB of ram A gforce RTX 3060. Does the game have an optimization problem or could it come from elsewhere?

The part about NPC only being voice acted for the first sentence of every dialogue window actually annoyed me much more than I thought it would. Probably more than it did sawman. Like he said in the video and I fully agree, it would've been better had those dialogues been all voiced or not voiced at all.

Hard Cleric guided me through almost everything PVE. Saw man helped me with my PVP builds. Lucky ghost, hack the Minotaur, and unified gaming, ALL helped me with my PVE trial and dungeon builds. Out of those eight years of sweaty, every single day play on Xbox NA, on multiple profiles, The only time I ever saw you, was when Sawman was making fun of you. You may be his mortal enemy, but to me you are irrelevant.
Survival is boring. Eating etc is an element of gameplay that puts me off games which is a shame because I woul have bought this. Can you turn off the survival part
Worst part of this game as much as I loved it has to be how battle encounters really do not feel balanced lol. Be fighting a big ass dark souls looking mofo just to get ganked by a ghost and a deer or a pack of bandits in the background kind of eliminates the fun lol. Like I get having to prep for each fight or running away what you can't handle but holy shit the start of this game is a mess with how it handled enemies. Gets alot better once you get passives from skill trainers after saving up a stupid amount of money but getting to that point with how enemies fight and are often the main source of income gets old fast lol. This isn't balanced like a souls game or elden ring each encounter there feels purposeful like it's your fault when you suck but in Outward it has no mercy to an extent where it is straight up not fair at times. I suggest just ditching a money based skill system in the future and doing a perk tree to these devs. Like it doesn't have to be tied to levels make it feat based instead like make it so you have to explore more or accomplish specific tasks.
Damn bro, eating provides hella buffs. Im honestly surprised eating and drinking is what annoyed you given that drinking water buffs stamina regen and food brings all sorts of buffs. This is probably one of the only games that gave me satisfaction eating

Definitive edition is 100% worth it due to it bringing dlc mechanics into the base game areas too

Survival is boring. Eating etc is an element of gameplay that puts me off games which is a shame because I woul have bought this. Can you turn off the survival part
Worst part of this game as much as I loved it has to be how battle encounters really do not feel balanced lol. Be fighting a big ass dark souls looking mofo just to get ganked by a ghost and a deer or a pack of bandits in the background kind of eliminates the fun lol. Like I get having to prep for each fight or running away what you can't handle but holy shit the start of this game is a mess with how it handled enemies. Gets alot better once you get passives from skill trainers after saving up a stupid amount of money but getting to that point with how enemies fight and are often the main source of income gets old fast lol. This isn't balanced like a souls game or elden ring each encounter there feels purposeful like it's your fault when you suck but in Outward it has no mercy to an extent where it is straight up not fair at times.
I suggest just ditching a money based skill system in the future and doing a perk tree to these devs. Like it doesn't have to be tied to levels make it feat based instead like make it so you have to explore more or accomplish specific tasks.
