Nice, i found one over here in Europe one day in a dry creek bed, actually picked it up because of it's shape, then when i turned it over it was showing it indeed was an arrow head, as it been laying there for so long to top side of it had basically eroded away by the water during spring and autumn filling and flowing in the creek. Feels really awesome, like some sort of portal or connection to some human many many years ago... tnx for sharing, and good luck out there !

Man them are wicked finds. I had to take that idea of the floating sifter and using it in a long creek in NW California and have found some damn pretty Obsidian dart points and a some willow points. Good stuff
I've been wanting to get into more walking/digging in a small creek on a relatives land but I'm never quite sure, where to.plenty of flint in the fields beside it.so I suppose anywhere I see flint flakes is a good start,but seeing you guys waist deep digging I'd have never thought!but killer points you all are finding.nice work!

Shane K It works very well ...you need to be in a hotspot though....I would not recommend digging at any random spot....this comes with experience and knowing about where artifacts are entering the creek and prospecting downstream from that point....Best of luck out there

there is a field where we do very well, below about 60 feet is a creek, should I just look for the gravel washouts around a bend, or should I be in the middle...im from Illinois, the starved rock area that is very well known for activity
Hey guys and gals i guess I'm here to say yall pull out some really nice points and as I mentioned once in a question do you think creek hunting here in central MS would be any different other than visibility ? as I have a pretty good surface site with the creek being only 50' away and Im thinking it should continue down to the water I have hunted for a while but never in creeks! I watch your video and I think your creeks are clearer than mine here in central MS any info or conversation would be great Thanks
Thanks Kenneth....I actually used to live in Madison and hunted several creeks in the area...there are good creeks in central Ms...the time to hunt them seriously would be in the winter when there is good water flow and the silt is gone...try to concentrate on smaller tributaries that run along or through changes in elevation....you should do well. Me again look have you guys ever ran across any mounds the reason I ask is over on a place my family used to own I walked up on two hill that look like possible mounds I was thinking maybe push piles from clearing but the have about a 100 year old red oak growing on them both of them have like a ramp both in on the same side and it faces a north south direction if going up on the ramp side have any ideas please let me know thanks Neil

Are you in a creek just digging at any old spot or are you in a ditch/hole that has an area where Indians settled? Never seen someone sift in a creek before, but it seems to work well for you guys.
fallsgrave We are in a creek.,but not just any old spot....There's a Bluff just up creek and I believe that is where they are coming from....this spot has been hunted for years and continues to produce....I believe the hole just behind us is full of them and they keep pushing up out of it...We're wanting to get farther out in the hole where there could be better concentrations of them.,but there is a lot of sand to dig off the top so.,we'll see what happens...we'll be back in there soon....Stay tuned and goodluck out there
At 1:48 it kind of looks like a small “bird point” as we call them in central Pa susqehannok country in the top right below that cat claw I could be wrong tho

Well.,it can be way different from one geography to the next... I like to think outside the box...one must remember.,water levels were much higher than what we see today. ...keep that in mind while prospecting.....variations in elevation.,even the slightest can be indicative of an old flood terrace and that equals campsites along the ancient water level edge.....I usually won't sift a spot unless there is a lot of debitage ( flint flakes ) in the creek. What state are you in...?
They are eroding from a site nearby.....once they hit the sandy spot where I am., they stop...years and years of water current congregates them...Thanks for your comment
To me.,the beauty of it is to find something that was manufactured by ancient man. The ancient artisans skill is often imitated.,but never duplicated. I would much rather find an artifact that was manufactured 8k years ago.,than to have a modern made one.! Sure it takes skill to make one...it takes the aww out of it though because it is modern made.

Number one.,I did not try to force my channel to grow..I did not reach out to people and ask them to subscribe...I let it come naturally..answering all comments and watching and commenting on others videos.Uploading too many videos clogs your channel and makes it difficult for people to find your vids...Tags are very important...Tag your videos with as many key words as you can think of.Good content always helps.Also.,I have my youtube and fb accounts connected...I share my vid after it is uploaded to youtube with multiple popular artifact groups....word of mouth also helps...Another tip is uploading when people are likely to be online/ TH-cam...for example 7 O'clock sunday night.I post pics on artifact sites further promoting vids...anything I can do really and it is beginning to pay off....
Heat treating began about the middle archaic period....they put they're raw material in fire for x amount of time...the heat breaks down the molecular structure of the stone making it more glass like..therefore easier to knap into tools...it also changes the original colors of the stone...thanks for your comment

We have to think outside the box on this....creeks and rivers change courses over time.,in addition.,there are man made drainages. There were mostly sloughs in North Mississippi...farmers and army corp of engineers drained these swamps to clear out farmland in late 1800's and early 1900's. Most artifacts in creeks are not there because they were hunting or fishing there.,they are there because these streams cut through ancient encampments and erode the artifacts into the streambed...in a spot like this.,they are getting washed by current into this sandy area and stuff can't move in sand very well and the artifacts congregate over time

Have you ever looked in clear creek near the big black or bovina area? Just curious, I am a civil war relic hunter and I often find points just sitting on top of the ground after a rain.
Ive made points for over 35 years started with my grandfather when i was 11 years old. Ive collected points even longer.. I'm sure ill be hated for my 2 cents but here they are. @2:12 the end of that sure looks like a sawed preform.. its decent work but its a preform. also in the first or second one you showed you could see threw the edge when the sunlight shined on it.. that means the very very thin edge hasnt been weathered an worn away.. in the hundreds if not thousands of years those edges would have been worn off by weathering if they had been in a river bank all that time. some points made of certain material you can see threw them but only when held in concentrated sunlight. having said that some of the points looked to have been authentic just not the big beautiful ones. its exciting to watch though I have found a few in this method in Mississippi.. I live in Brandon MS. knock the edges of a little make sure none of the preform is showing and it would be a lot more believable. anyway best of luck to ya and keep digging..
I've been hunting North Mississippi for over 30 years...creeks only for 25. I've studied point types and material the whole time. I don't plant any rocks or stage videos....I'm too honest for that.! What many people don't realize is that the sand and clay of North Mississippi preserves artifacts quite well. I've lived and hunted your area as well and I can tell you that the material of North Mississippi is of much better quality than central Mississippi materials. I'm not gonna knock any edges off.,because they are all authentic.,I can assure you..appreciate you commenting
I have access to thousands of points ...I could stage videos and you would see me crank out 3.,4.,5 hell a video a day if that was the case...let's get realistic here...I've been filming my finds for over 9 years and uploading it to TH-cam...my last upload was probably 3 months ago. It's all real
How valuable was the arrowhead to the indian? I would think high to very high. So what are the theories for why so many arrowheads are found? My guess is that 90 percent of these arrowheads were either lost and the indian simply couldn't find it, or they were shot in a combat situation where they couldn't afford to care about it and had to run.
@@Theditchwalker You bring up a good point I hadn’t considered which is that the Indians were not universally nomadic and could sometimes stay put for months or years.

To make your own arrow is a more accomplishment then to find one any one can find them it takes a skill to make one

They are just nodules of quartz...A good indicator that there are artifacts in the area

I'm sure ill be hated for my 2 cents but here they are. @2:12 the end of that sure looks like a sawed preform.. its decent work but its a preform. also in the first or second one you showed you could see threw the edge when the sunlight shined on it.. that means the very very thin edge hasnt been weathered an worn away.. in the hundreds if not thousands of years those edges would have been worn off by weathering if they had been in a river bank all that time. some points made of certain material you can see threw them but only when held in concentrated sunlight. having said that some of the points looked to have been authentic just not the big beautiful ones. its exciting to watch though I have found a few in this method in Mississippi.. I live in Brandon MS. knock the edges of a little make sure none of the preform is showing and it would be a lot more believable. anyway best of luck to ya and keep digging..
I've been hunting North Mississippi for over 30 years...creeks only for 25. I've studied point types and material the whole time. I don't plant any rocks or stage videos....I'm too honest for that.!
What many people don't realize is that the sand and clay of North Mississippi preserves artifacts quite well. I've lived and hunted your area as well and I can tell you that the material of North Mississippi is of much better quality than central Mississippi materials. I'm not gonna knock any edges off.,because they are all authentic.,I can assure you..appreciate you commenting
I have access to thousands of points ...I could stage videos and you would see me crank out 3.,4.,5 hell a video a day if that was the case...let's get realistic here...I've been filming my finds for over 9 years and uploading it to TH-cam...my last upload was probably 3 months ago. It's all real

How valuable was the arrowhead to the indian? I would think high to very high. So what are the theories for why so many arrowheads are found? My guess is that 90 percent of these arrowheads were either lost and the indian simply couldn't find it, or they were shot in a combat situation where they couldn't afford to care about it and had to run.
Many multi occupational sites were inhabited off and on for thousands of years....that's a lot of time to make.,use.,and lose things.
@@Theditchwalker You bring up a good point I hadn’t considered which is that the Indians were not universally nomadic and could sometimes stay put for months or years.
