Make sure your straight arm is fully locked during the rep It'll strain the tendon, so it'll strengthen it. If you feel like too much for your tendons, do them like he does them in the video

Depends on the person, I like to go roughly 2 reps before failure on my first 3 sets and then all the way to failure on my last set. Make sure to fail on both sides on your last set to get an equal workout!
I had an issue with wrist pain i. This exercise, turns out I had my hands to forward. Keeping them around chest level or lower minimizes wrist pain for me.
Tried archer pushups just a few minutes ago... it felt so foreign and awkward compared to standard pushups, I couldn't even do 4. I'll try again with your advice in mind and see what's going on, I'll update.

A good bench mark before trying this would be to be able to do 25 stand push ups without cheating and with proper form. Or you are going to just bang your head against the wall.

Each push is 1, should finish on an even count

I wear gloves to not slip away with my hands. Does this make them easier or is it ok?
Gloves doesn’t take away form the workout at all, if it helps you keep your hands planted then keep doing it
