I do wonder if this has anything to do with me using the .sv4 file in OpenRCT2 rather than the OG cd, but it does feel lucky! One of the reasons I like adding block brakes very early on to get the rides running properly.
Thanks! It was a comment suggestion last time. Andrew from Mickanman's RCT Station had showed me how to do it and it doesn't take too long for an end product which is neat.
Another great one! I feel like I learn so much from these videos, but you do an awesome job balancing technique and nostalgia (while making the parks look great ofc).
Thanks very much! It's been kind of interesting to try and establish that balance of how developed the actual RCT is vs playing it like the original game intended. But I think we're starting to settle in to the right place. It's been a lot of fun to put together. Thanks for watching!
Great work! Love the small modifications to the Storm/Ultimate. It's a great balance between being a fun take on it and emulating more of the real layout. Love the before/after shots too!
I've really enjoyed following along with this series. I'm always torn in scenario play between making something that looks nice and making the most efficient, kind of ridiculous looking, rides just to meet the goal. Excited to see how it goes as the scenarios start to get harder
Thanks very much! I'm also interested to see how things develop in the harder scenarios as the same typical design principles will apply, but the park layouts will often be more challenging. I feel like there's a good balance of efficiency and realism-- just sometimes takes some doing to get it right. We'll see how that ends up working in practice! Thanks for watching.
This was awesome! Sad to see ultimate go, especially in the relatively underwhelming state of UK parks, so it’s lovely to see the consideration given here. The other coasters were really cool, can’t believe the stand up coaster didn’t have helices in rct1 lmao
The lack of helix thing totally threw me off. I was wondering what was going on initially before I realized it simply wasn't there. I miss my RCT2 flexibility! A part of me dies every time I can't bank a sloped corner.
Underground changes to existing rides is so expensive, at least RCT2, I don't remember it in the OG RCT. New construction gives you full cost credit back when you change your mind, existing rides give your partial, even if the piece has only been there for a few seconds. And underground, chah ching, I've burned thru big bucks. But I think RCT1 made us start above ground, tunnel under, and delete the above section. We couldn't just hot-key start underneath. So I guess Runaway couldn't be 100% demolished and a new coaster put in the same spot. Am I remembering that right?
You couldn't raise stations in the OG-- you had to start there and build up or down. Hard to think of not having that functionality these days. To be honest I've never paid much attention to costs above or below ground, but I think you're right.
I had a trip fully booked to do a UK coaster trip including the Ultimate in 2020. Then COVID happened. Took me till 2022 to get to the country and by then the ride was shut. We didn't even bother with the park. Super disappointing! Looked like such an interesting ride.
@@AmusementAcademy My story is much the same, I was going to go in 2019 but then decided against it for whatever reason. And now here we are. Live for the moment, is the lesson here!
I hear you! It's why I have anxiety about older/at risk coasters that I don't have plans to visit. I'm going to Austria in a few days to (hopefully) ride a coaster there that closes this month. But the Ultimate was more iconic than most, so it definitely stings more!
miracle run considering The Storm didn't crash once

Been loving this series so far.
Thanks very much!
The before and afters were a great touch too

Thank you! I debated for a long time about modifying it at all, but in the end, I think the balance was the right way to go.

Valleyfair mentioned! Uncommon W
Great park! It hasn't really gotten any love from Cedar Fair for a long while, but I still really enjoyed it. Was very pleasant.

The Ultimate is the one that got away. Gutted that they scapped it before I got to ride.
I used to go there all the time for the ultimate, I refuse to go ever since they removed the ultimate, Brighton ruined it to shreds.
