    I have two Yorkie’s! A female and a male. Watching your channel helped me make the decision on getting two. They are 12 days apart in age, but the male, whom is the youngest weighs a little over twice the females weight. I had planned on breeding them when I first got them, but as they grew I knew it would be too dangerous for the female, due to the males size. We love ❤️ them so much! They have been a couple handfuls as to care and all that you discussed on this video, but they are precious!

    I have 2 yorkies and very soon we will be welcoming our 3rd yorkie to our family. I’m retired and really don’t travel, I’m in to my garden and my dogs. My husband thinks it’s a great idea for the 3 as our oldest is 10 years old now. I love yorkies, I love all animals but they are a lot of comfort to me, and great company. If I was more active I would only have 1 but since I’m a home person they are like potatoe chips can’t have just one in my world. Love your videos 🙂❤️

    I have two rescure Yorkies, a Sliky and a Yorkshire. The second Terrier was not planned, and my oldest Biscof had hearing problems when I got him. The younger one Lucky created a playful enviorment for Biscoff. Biscoff alway played in the morning with me, and now Lucky does the same. I have a big backyard that is fenced and seeing them play together makes me smile. It's a safety thing knowing that Lucky will hear any birds flying overhead and will alert Biscoff. I guess. Adding a young dog 2? or younger since Lucky was found on the street. And Biscoff came down from Wisconsin who I got from a friend who rescues dogs. Travling two makes my life interesting, however I'm retired and have more time to pay attention to these pups. I do however have to spend more time training little guy, he so smart and funny! I haven't even had him and year. Well worth the expense of having another younger dog for my older one.

    Thank you for this video! I currently have 1 Yorkie and I've been going back and forth with whether to get another. All the reasons you listed as ones I've considered. Currently, my sweet boy (Biggie Smalls) goes everywhere with me, including work. Much like your boy Teddy did. We do everything together, he's touching me from the time we wake up til the time we go to bed. Lol. I love the bond we have and can't really imagine how that would change with adding another. But I can tell he would also benefit so much from having another dog friend around to do dog stuff with. He tries to play with our cat. she's very mean to him and it makes me sad. So yeah, I'm in this boat right now and it was nice to hear from someone with similar perspective.

      Honestly, I have three but they really never play with each other. If he goes lots of places with you, I bet he is happy to have you to himself. Having one is so nice, and I bet he is very content. My cat can be sassy too, but they are still a pack, don't worry❤️❤️❤️

      I think it depends on what their level of happiness is before. When I opened my business I was so busy working with clients, managing employees and doing PR and social media. Teddy often looked sad, and he actually peed ON my computer one day. I understood why he did it, and that he was trying to send me a message that he wanted company. At first he hated Lola, and then eventually (after 6 months) he loved her. No, I think waiting at least 3 years is good, even 7 like I did is great. I personally would not get a puppy if I had a 12-15 year old yorkie because that is such an age difference. It is like asking a senior citized to suddenly become a caretaker for an active toddler. Not impossible, but really hard.

    • @MeganGraham
      @MeganGraham  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you need to practice being gone for small of time and gradually increasing it over time. You'll at the very least need to get someone to walk her twice a day when you are gone. Another dog may help, but she has separation anxiety because she hasn't had a chance to be alone much. That said, a 5 month old puppy should not be alone all day.

      Hi there, if I were in your place I would not get another Yorky puppy. I hope you don’t mind my advice. No, I don’t think that they will tire each other out. I would just plan on taking your puppy on separate walks and playing extra with the puppy to tire it out. She will eventually definitely calm down and everything will settle down. It took my dogs a long time to get along like 6 to 8 months so please don’t worry, but I would not try to solve the problem by getting another dog. I think you’ll literally be pulling your hair out. Hi Megan, I brought home my second 12 week old male yorkie this week. My female yorkie is just over 2 yrs. She was very playful before little bear joined our family but the last few days has been a bit sullen and snappy. He is of course totally oblivious and full of beans. I was hoping he'd make a good companion for her as I work from home 5 hours a day. Taking your advice from before and limiting their contact, making a big fuss of her when I can.
    I originally wanted to get another yorkie every 2/3 years but I might stick with the 2 for now anyway

      Hi there, it is still very very new in there getting to know each other so please don’t worry too much but I agree that it’s a great idea to watch what they are doing carefully and make sure that they are treating each other kindly. My teddy and lol I did not get along for the first six months… Yes that’s right six months that I had them. So I’m sure eventually she will stop being selling and they will be friends but it won’t happen right away.

    Thanks for sharing that topic. I have 2 yorkies and a shitzu. However, the shitzu is 12 years old and doesn’t have a needy personality like the yorkies. I wrestled with this question because I’m busy a lot, even if I’m home, so I have 1 yorkie thats 4 yrs old and just got my other yorkie for Christmas. They are all boys and my biggest concern, apart from how hard it is to walk all 3, is the dominance problem between the 2 yorkies, I’m hoping it settles down because it’s really putting me through it. The other yorkie, which I bought from the same breeder, was supposed to be a play buddy, but I’m worried about forever sibling rivalry. 🤥 Did you experience any issues with this?🥴

    • @lauratapper9964
      @lauratapper9964 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I forgot to mention that the one for Christmas just turned 9 weeks, he is teething and is very feisty and rowdy….the personality of the 4 yr old, apart from the age gap, only likes being aggressive when playing with toys and not other dogs. I hope I haven’t bit off more than I can chew……

    • @MeganGraham
      @MeganGraham  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly Christmas was very recent. Teddy and Lola did not get along (at all) for 6 months after Lola came to live with us. That said, eventually they became best friends. Even if they seem like they have a little sibling rivalry, that is ok too. Don't have guilt etc about whether they get along perfectly. The longer they are together, the more they will form a pack.

      @@lauratapper9964 That may be another reason for the bumpiness of the transition. Yorkies should not come home with you for 12 weeks, so the breeder sent him home earlier than he should have ever left (legally they are not allowed to leave until 8 weeks. There could be future developmental issues because he was separated from his littermates and mom very prematurely.

      @@MeganGraham this is something I didn’t know and helps me better understand why this has been difficult beyond what I expected…I told the breeder I was worried about this because he was really close with his sisters but she tried to assure me not to worry, he has aggression problems I have to work through, he’ll be 10 weeks Sunday. He doesn’t understand why my other 2 dogs run from him and won’t play……I can’t even train him to go outside because he doesn’t have all his shots yet. However, he seems to be intelligent to use the pee pad more often than not. We just don’t have any peace in our house because it takes so much to wear him out and he doesn’t sleep very long….🤥
      I really appreciate your sharing this information, helps my perspective a lot…..

    I have 2 Yorkies, a sweet 13 year old senior (female) and a new 4 month old male puppy! I love them both but OMG, the baby Malcolm wants to play all of the time and Ms. Harley is not having it! Needless to say, I am constantly breaking up fights, any suggestions? Will they ever get along? TIA

      Hi Sharon! How are your pups doing? I’m thinking of getting a second yorkie as a companion for my 6 year old female.
      Are they getting along better now?

      Maybe? But it will most likely take a long time:) 13 years olds can get very annoyed with a pestering puppy.

    I want another Yorkie so bad but I struggle with depression a lot and my days is a hit and miss. I have a really big apartment but I have no idea if I want 2 Yorkies sleeping in my room considering that I have a spacious apartment. I look at it this way. I just have a puppy but if I'm get 2 it will turn into a responsible and I have to buy extra stuff. I don't work because I'm always at home and my puppy doesn't bark in my Apartment. A lady is offering a good deal on them but Idk if he'll be able to fit in my lifestyle. 🥲

      My general rule in life is that if it is not a definite yes than it’s a definite no. And it’s clearly not a definite yes for you as you have so many questions about it. I would definitely say don’t get a second Yorkie.
