Is it ok to buy SKMEI watches? Don't be a CASIO snob!
If you havent discovered the cheap chinese brand SKMEI, you are missing out.
They have some good quality cheap digitals and have some lookalike CASIO models that are perfect for modding you favourite CASIO watches.
The light from skmei royale is 2 steps ahead from casio 😂
I bought a skmei (model 1251) watch here in Thailand, got it for like $10. Been wearing it everyday even in the shower, wanted to put it through a test as a daily affordable watch. It looks military (big digital watch) and bought it as a disposable watch that I could wear daily. But this watch has definitely got me impressed.
In steel bracelet this Casio royale has one of the most comfortable to wear bracelets at this price point which is surprising
I must say, I've also been thinking about modding my casio watches with parts from skmei, especially the gshock square lookalike.

Hi, Tim 2.0 .. I have many many watches in my collection...Most of them are Casios... I bought a Skmei 1628 a few weeks ago just to see what they are like... I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the watch for just £12 GBP. Superb value for money at just £12 with free delivery
HOWEVER ..When you buy something cheap there is nearly always a "But" and the "But" with the Skmei is the accuracy (How well the watch holds accurate time)
The accuracy of my Genuine Casio G-Shock DW5600 BB is amazing... Its accuracy is about plus or minus just One Second every 2 Weeks...It has amazing accuracy for a non-radio-controlled watch... The Skmei 1628 is losing around 14 Seconds in the same 2 Weeks... OK, not the end of the World I know... But that is the reason it is cheap... The module inside the watch is inferior.
The Skmei 1628 might LOOK like a Casio G-Shock DW5600 but that is where any similarities end.
The Skmei 1628 is not a bad watch for £12 GBP (Including free delivery) but it is NOT in the same league as a Genuine Casio G-Shock DW5600...Quality is remembered LONG after cost is forgotten.
I bought a Casio G-Shock G-2900V-1V way back in 2004... Coming up 20 Years on and this watch is still going strong..
I have got it on my wrist now. It still holds accurate time.
Verdict...If you are looking for a cheap budget watch..You can't go wrong with a Skmei 1628 for just £12
If you are "In it for the long haul" and you are looking for a watch that will last for decades... Bite the bullet and pay the extra money for a Genuine G-Shock... They last for decades and hold a very accurate time.

I've genuinely come across more SKMEI snobs who despise Casio (despite their entire brand making cheap and unoriginal versions of watches) rather than these so-called "Casio snobs".

I have two skmei watches. You can get them for less from China, but they don’t offer the same functionality as the ones they copy. Yes, lights ok, but not better. My Skmei 1418 (suunto look alike?) has a lot of functionality, but it comes with caveats: the temperature for instance always gets to 28,5 degrees while wearing, because it takes your body heat. My skmei 1381 comes with almost the same functions as the Casio f-201, which is my favourite Casio by far. However it is housed as a Casio DB-360GN look alike. The two extra buttons you get because of that don’t add anything extra and only make operating the watch convoluted. The LCD has poor legibility under a slight angle. The price is not that much less than that of the f-201, so I wouldn’t buy it again. I use it as my kitchen timer
Great video, skmei are great, only negative is the off angle visibility which is poor....but great value.
Yes, true. The visibility isn't as clear as the CASIO - the LCD is probably one of teh most expensive components inside and this will be one area where they can make a saving.
The movement is also a lottery too. Casio is more accurate. I have bought a Skmei and the seconds drift is insane. In one month it has lost a minute.

You make good use swapping out the parts; that's a good idea. I am just put off by companies that copy others. I'd rather them have their own original ideas (though it seems they have subtle improvements, like different kinds of bands you like). Also the "Casio Royale" was copied from the Seiko from the James Bond movie, of course, so Casio isn't always so original either.
I don't disagree too much, but its just a simple watch at the end of the day.
how exactly was it copied? Have you seen the Seiko? They look a bit similar which is where it gets the name, but far far from a copy

i should not comment... I really do not know much about watches. It was a brief hobby interest I had last year and I haven't been thinking about it much since then.
@@eoghanmyers2330 They are different but also look enough alike that the reason I bought an AE1200 was for the nostalgia element after my Seiko finally died of old age.
there is a legendary watch in skmei its model no is 1358 its a triple sensor watch with pedometer and much more function even a casio watch is not providing on higher end models

I haven’t tried to swap the modules. I’m sure you can make it fit as they can’t be very different in size.

Casio says Stainless Steel and I’ve had mine for years and it’s fine

Je suis français, il y a 1 mois je me suis fait volé une casio g-shock sur mon lieu de travail, j'étais dégoûté, une chaîne horlogère française conseil un hommage à une g-shock, le prix est faible, jusqu'à maintenant je n'est jamais eu d'hommage, ni de montre chinoise, un promotion à- 95%, elle me revient à seulement 1 euros, livraison gratuite, je me dit, je tente, j'achète sur aliexpress, je pensais vraiment à une arnaque, et bien non. Cette montre je l'adore, elle a un code couleur original tous le monde me dit , elle est belle ta nouvelle casio, je repond, c'est une chinoise, il me réponde c'est une blague, je repond, et bien non 😅. Aujourd'hui j'adore aliexpress, et les montres chinoises arrivent dans ma collection, elles sont légitime , et la qualité est vraiment la je suis un collectionneur de vintages, grandes marques suisses de montres vintage, de casio, de g-shock, de seiko, etc, et de belles montres numériques et franchement j'en possède beaucoup des montres, et les Chinois font du bon. 😊

You bet your ass it's ok to buy Skmei (poronounced SA-KER-MAY ) watches.They represent great value and punch way above their weight. You can spend more if you wish but the real fools are those who do!

@@Tim2pointoheven if the Casio is an original one, i notice those Casio with print at the back - assembled in China is less Accurate than with print assembled in Thailand,
and 10 year battery series really lasts longer provided less usage of light, sounds and alarms
