    He can't kill him, the ship requires both of them to operate. He is stuck with him.. just awful.

      The way he pushed the chair, knowing exactly this and looking at him asking : "so... you want to kill me and die a slow death alone here ?"

    • @MACReact

      Yeah, that's basically how I saw it too. He can kill David but would effectively doom himself to a slow agonizing death.

      Even if he did kill him and SOMEHOW was able run it himself, that’d be the problem he would be by himself alone for 4 more years in the deep dark pockets of space.

    I think their mission was doomed from the start. You need a team of people to go on a space mission to keep eachother in check

      Yeah sending only 2 people on a 6 year mission that needs a minimum of 2 people is insane xd

      @@user-vl2rc4mb7kseriously 😅 Like even if this didn’t happen they could have just as easily gotten sick with something and thus one of them, or maybe even both, becoming unable to pilot and take care of the ship😂 Like there’s a million ways this could and would have gone wrong.

    Cliff looks like he doesn't like his robot body interacting with his wife intimately so he becomes distant from his wife once he goes on the mission. His wife does mention this in the episode that he wasn't like this before he went up there. So, in a way I think he feels the same as those hippie killers although not that extreme.
    Cliff has 2 choices in the end, kill David and essentially kill himself as its a 2 man ship or complete the mission with his family's killer. Another thing is, if he chooses to complete the mission and go back to earth, then he will most likely be put in jail for killing his family as it was his robot body that did it and possibly no evidence to back up the claim that it was David instead.
    Regarding both Cliff and his wife behaving naively, I would think its inline with people's behavior in that time period (1960's). They would be more trustworthy and sympathetic because of that compared to modern times. This also explains Cliff hitting his son that time as it was common place back then.

      I think David would have a much harder time convincing everyone he didn’t have anything to do with Cliff’s families’ murders than Cliff would have convincing them of what had occurred.

      I do wish they had mentioned something about why he wasn't intimate with his wife. I also got the impression it was partially the robot body and partially just his closed off nature.

      @lilbeanie07 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To your first point, I can’t quite put my thoughts into words but I found it strange that so many of us were wondering why Cliff wasn’t more loving with his wife when he was a whole robot! How loving and intimate was the robot supposed to be? And why was Davis’s robot so emotional/intimate when walking on Earth?

    • @wendyheatherwood
      @wendyheatherwood 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @lilbeanie07 The robot bodies are just puppets for their actual human brains, so there's no reason for them not to be just as emotional.

  • @Hey_Jamie

    The thing that I don’t understand is why the hell the actual people had to be up there and not the androids

    • @wendyheatherwood
      @wendyheatherwood 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      It's implied in the conversation in the cinema that one of the things they're testing is human endurance, seeing how the body survives being in space.

    4:09 for the exact reason David was unalived. Because there are people who don’t accept it and want to hurt them.

      The entire irony of the episode is that Cliff can’t kill him, he needs him for his expertise on the ship. Each of them have specific skills that are needed to keep the ship running. If one of them dies, so does the other as soon as something goes wrong that the person left doesn’t know how to fix.
      So for the next four years, if Cliff wants to live to make it back to earth, he has no choice but to live with the man that murdered his family.

    17:46 Gen X had different types of fathers that you see today. This episode was a 1968 alternate timeline. Getting hit upside the head as a kid acting a fool was as long as an occurrence as it needed to be. Some learned early, others were hospitalized. Either way, you learned something.
    23:10 "where's the HR department"? Again, 1968. No such concept as we know it today.

    I'm pretty sure they would've gotten to a point where David did use Cliff's replica one way or the other. The ending was pretty much the only way for them to finish the journey. David living in Hell while Cliff enjoy his life... Nope, not possible. Cliff had to join him in Hell and share the pain of having lost everything
