I feel like this episode really shows Man's capability to not be thankful at all. He went from being so thankful of being able to just see and touch a caterpillar to wanting to take this man's whole life and family. If he would have just stuck to the agreement they could have all been great friends and he would have eventually made it back to be able to possibly start again. Now unless the government covers it up, he's gonna go to jail for murder, if he even makes it that long cause I couldn't imagine being Cliff now with nothing to live for back on earth and the murderer right there with me in isolation for 3 MORE YEARS?! Yeah no lol
I actually understand how he got desperate enough to "steal" his family. I think the tipping point was killing the other guys family so that he'd understand what he was going through. That was just unreasonable.

It’s Rory Culkin, not Kieran. He plays delusional religious figure really well, he’s really good in the tv show Under the Banner of Heaven, though it’s disturbing. Actually Daisy Edgar-Jones from Normal People is also in it.
I watched another reaction and they asked why they didn't leave the real bodies on Earth while the robots stay in space and I can't help but question the same thing lol
I think early in the episode Josh Hartnetts character says part of the point of the mission is testing their physical and mental capabilities, and that wouldn't really work if their robot selves were the ones in space. Also they have to take off things like rings and tags to go out of the ship so maybe their robot versions would be damaged if they went out instead.

this episode is great, aaron paul and josh harnett killed it. i also love to see an actor have to portray multiple characters/personalities, it's always so interesting to see how they approach it. I recommend possessor, it's a sci-fi/horror movie by brandon cronenberg. without giving too much away, it involves that and it is amazing, one of my favorites. i doubt it would ever win a poll or anything but if y'all wanna check it out on your own, i think you may enjoy it!

It's kinda weird you didn't know Josh Hartnett. I know he hasn't been in much stuff in recent years but... I still think he's at least as famous as Aaron Paul. Used to be much more famous though.
He’s very famous for independent and foreign film fans. Been doing them for 20+ years. It’s why he walked away from Hollywood Handsome Hunkdom creation. He wanted to escape the noise and pick his own roles, interesting ones, the ones indie films have.
JH’s character- the episode is all about this guy’s arrogance. He’s someone who’s always lived a charmed life and couldn’t accept loss, rejection, not getting what he wants. The way he used the same moves, he same song w/APs wife as he did his own shows how lazy he is, and that’s why he can’t grieve and move fwd. The ending is brilliant bc they’re stuck together, can’t operate the ship w/out two ppl, can’t go home alone. When he kicks out the chair for AP’s character it’s him saying ‘now we’re back to being on equal footing’, like a bratty kid who breaks another kid’s toy bc he can’t have it. He couldn’t live w/AP having more than him. Argh, such a gut punch ending. My fav epi of the season.
This was my favorite episode of this season! Rory Culkin always plays weird characters but he’s good! Josh Hartnett is from my teenage years too so it was cool seeing him.
18:00 this also would have been an interesting concept, of Cliff being the bad guy and thinking something was going on that actually wasn't and eventually losing his family because of his own actions while blaming David

Please post the rest of that incident. Nolan wanted a 10 year commitment for a trilogy. Hartnett didn’t want to limit himself to the superhero typecast. They had ONE conversation by phone. Later he wanted to do Prestige but Nolan already signed up Bale. He turned down Brokeback bcuz he was under a studio contract to do Black Dahlia at the same time. Rest of story😊
You guys made one important point that I never thought of. (Around 7 mins) - Why don't they have it the other way round and have the real people on earth and fake robots in space instead? Might not even have to wear a spacesuit.
they took their metal accessories off like the ring and chain before going out of the ship so a robot maybe wouldn't work for that reason. if the cyborg/robot malfunctioned or broke in space there wouldn't be a way to fix it. - a few explanations i have seen going around. hope that helped.
@@mahrukhhassan7684 Wouldn't it be more cost effective if an engineer hops on to one of them to fix the other? They could also cut out the need for food and oxygen and bunch of other amenities too. Also, they would not even need to take off any accessories if they are robots.
@@SilverDragonZZL many plotholes in this story btw. why just 2 people especially when the ship needs someone inside while someone is outside there could've been a whole team of even 10? why no women sent up there to test for any gender difference in the overall experiment? why isn't there any communication from earth? etc. the mission was to find out how long humanity could last in space which answers why the robots weren't in space. i meant the robots would be made from metal so if they're avoiding any metal on themselves in the suit then the robots couldn't go out obviously.
They are in communication with earth. David watches the funeral of his family, three tombstones. Someone calls Cliff’s replica on earth to report the murder. Both men are transmitting and receiving data at their stations.
I really like this episode from season 6. This is what we (at least me) expected from Black Mirror’s episode, makes you uncomfortable. Josh Hartnett and Aaron Paul really great here.
Ok, I saw the ep in full and a handful of reactions but I just noticed watching y’all…Did Cliff get his family killed?? What he said Lana said she didn’t exactly say and if so he could’ve/should’ve just kept it at she doesn’t want to see you. I feel like all that extra was twisting the knife and pushed David over the edge. Edit: OK just saw y’all brought it up in the discussion
He probably would have done it anyways because he was jealous and Cliff kept saying they were his, plus he already didn't like the kid and he wanted Cliff to feel the same pain, he was a pos that we were made to feel sorry for until he revealed his true nature
It was for Cliff to be in his exact same situation of having a dead family, and also kinda like "if I can't have you, no one can" when it comes to the wife

From what I remember, the mission was to see how long humanity can last in space. I think that would be complex when sending the replicas to space, they'd need to be much more real. (Which was probably not possible yet, from what they say about their....cough... genitals.....Maybe the technology isn't completely for them to be considered fully human to make the mission a success.))) Which means a lot in the end....would you sabotage that mission for revenge...or would you make sure humanity can space travel and finish the mission. It's terrifying because.....I would die in space alone.
I feel like it’s because they could break and they were extremely complicated and difficult to build or fix. They say in the episode how they couldn’t fix the broken body or build a new one because it was just so difficult, so if they were to break or need maintenance in space they probably wouldn’t be able to do that. There’s probably a bigger chance that they would run in to problems with the robots rather than actual humans, so they send the humans in to space. What i had the biggest problem is why in the world would they send only 2 people in there, on a ship that needs at least 2 people to operate. What if one of them would die or become unable to operate the ship? And the biggest is the mental health issue, with only 2 people it would become unbearable very quick, especially in a situation where on of their robot bodies would break, as we saw on the show. You would need a proper sized crew to make sure people don’t get sick of each other or risk the ship becoming inoperable if one crew mate becomes incapacitated. I can understand sending the actual humans to space instead of the robots, but not the part where they just send 2 people there.
From a purely logical standpoint, if the replica needs some kind of repair, they’re fucked if it’s in space. Obviously in the ep, the replica was disfigured and burned so it was past the point of saving but for minor damage which could impact motor functions, it’d make much more sense to have the replicas on earth
Some of the people here should check the TH-cam interviews with Brooker to get expanded answers to questions that were maybe too subtlety answered in the dialogue.
I cant even believe that i didnt recognize josh hartnett, i used to rewatch the Faculty all the time as a kid. And i knew i recognized AP but didnt realize jesse pinkman was all grown up now (duh ) so i feel like maybe i was distracted watching this particular episode but like wtf..that ending was very black mirror..uncomfortable and as always technology brings out the worst in human nature. Jhs character having the ability to destroy another mans life instead of being grateful..he "evened" the playing field by taking it all away..great episode!

I have to admit that this is probably my least favorite of the new season. It's just so predictable and cliche. I thought it had so much potential with Rory Culkin's character to explore how society labels people as less than human but then it just went exactly where you thought it would go once they introduced using his link.

Because the mission was to see if humans can do long time space travel. (I don't think the replicas are exactly human enough to make the mission very successful.))
