Happy you found us! When we got into collecting the One Piece TCG, we found ourselves enjoying card return videos as well, but they were fairly sparse. We're doing our best to improve that a bit, and with some analysis to go with it. Welcome aboard 😁
Awesome! Yeah, I think it's safe to say we are obsessed and it's my (Mike) favorite story of all time. The only characters we are fuzzy on are the film characters, since we haven't seen a lot of them. Glad to hear you both enjoy it so much too :) The One Piece is real!
Absolutely, hope you enjoyed it. We've had numerous Beckett return videos posted since this one as well. This seems to be the only one TH-cam decides to present to people though 😉
Yes it sure is. We were thrilled when we went to set up our first order and noticed the Ship To address was so close lol. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Ah, the jealousy is palpable lol. When we pulled 3, I was like "sweet! almost guaranteed a 10, maybe even a BL" Welp...that didn't quite end up how I imagined it 😂
Great video! I’ve debated grading with Beckett. I don’t plan to sell though so it would only be to preserve…sticking with the penny/toploader combo for now.
Yeah, you really can't go wrong with PSA or Beckett for personal collection. We just have extra fun hunting Black Labels, and the fact they are local helps too! The majority of our One Piece TCG collection (over 1500 unique cards) are Sleeved > Top Loader > Top Loader Sleeved, and put in a nice box.
Nice vid! Grading companies scare me sometimes. If the so called professional grader is having a bad day or has to grade a bulk amount they can often rush through grades and screw cards that deserve higher recognition. Problem is they don’t get held accountable for it.
Yeah, I wonder if AI will help with this, with some automated review followed by a human second pass, to keep things more consistent. A good number of our returns were head scratchers, while others made perfect sense.
Bet with psa 90% of all cards would have been 10s, I know black label is king but for the like what 6 or so u got is all the 9.5s worth the difference? Idk 🤷♂️ I been debating what company to use also
Yeah, we choose Beckett for a few reasons: 1) They are a 30min drive from our house, saving hundreds in shipping/insurance fees. 2) Their labels are simply more aesthetically pleasing to us. We find the PSA labels ugly. And 3) PSA has earned a reputation of handling out 10s like candy, so the value of a PSA 10 is often more in line with a Beckett 9.5 than a Beckett 10, not even mentioning the Black Labels. That said, a 10 on the label certainly feels better than 9.5, so we may crack and regrade some cards with PSA.
@@BillionBeri i sold it for 3k, before october, but im still happy with it. it only costed me 100 dollars for the box anyways and i was doing surgery when i sold it. i still sold at a pretty high price considering it was during the end of summer. I chose to sell because bandai made reprints of set 1, and manga shanks had no change in the text, so i knew there was alot more shanks being set to get graded. considering the first batch was about 20% for bgs black label 10, i figured its best to sell now before the population rose. still, im happy with 3 grand for a piece of cardboard.
You should know Beckett controls their black label pop. So maybe half of bgs 10 gold label out there are actually black labels specifically those where the .5 is taken off centering because centering will always be subjective whereas corners, surface, edges can be absolutely defined.
I've heard that, but I'm not sure I put heavy stock in it. I use a 40x magnifying glass and digital calipers now, and can pretty easily see when things are off, even a smidge. Things like Specials or the Anniversary Luffy with no real measurable borders though... that's a diff story.
Do you have access to our video idea Asana board? That's on the list too lol. My full time gig eats a lot of my (Mike) time, so my ability to pump out videos is severely hampered.
It's probably my favorite Law to date for sure, but the 03 Nami Leader is my favorite of the bunch, and we just got her signed by Akemi Okamura, the Japanese VA, today, so now it's even better!
@@BillionBeri amazing! Im tempted to grade but not sure if I want to take out from my toploader binder and then dont know if I would go with bgs or psa
I hear you. We go with BGS for 2 reasons: It's headquarters is a 40 min drive from us, so we don't pay shipping and insurance. Big $$$ savings. Secondly, it is my opinion that PSA is not only a less aesthetic label, but that they hand out 10s so often it diminishes the prestige of a 10. A PSA 10 is like a BGS 9.5, so the ceiling is much lower. And Black Labels are very highly valued due to just how perfect a card has to be to achieve it (well, and getting a grader who isn't insanely harsh for no reason)
Lucky.. not the right word.. your spot is perfect for card collecting. For me it costs $120 just to ship 10 cards 1 way then they charge me return shipping & Australian tax every order which is anywhere between $50-$250 that's not counting paying Beckett or PSA
Ick, yeah that's pretty gnarly. My cards would have to be practically glowing to submit them under those circumstances. In a way, it saves you from over submitting which I feel like we've fallen into the trap of doing, but we can generally sell our extras on eBay and squeak out a small profit for our efforts, where your situation, save for the real high dollar cards, is likely personal collection only, or do you sell as well?
A pretty small amount in the grand scheme of things. In the end, It's a collectible card game, so some will want to play it, some will want to collect it, and some will do both. Our collection goals also result in thousands of pristine quality playable cards becoming available on the singles market. It's all symbiotic.
I love your collection but you said your Nami black label is going in a case to never see the light of day? Why not display them and enjoy looking at them every day. That’s what I do. I have built custom lighted shelf’s to put all my one piece and Pokémon cards in to display and look at them every day. I wish I had a lot of yalls cards though haha. You open to trades lol? Vivi alt leader is one of my chase cards. Y’all interested in trading for one lol
Mostly a figure of speech, but I mainly mean it won't be leaving our possession. It literally won't see the light of day again though, since UV rays will destroy them over time. I definitely want to build out a display case wall for our favorite cards to be seen and enjoyed though. Not quite there yet, but it's definitely the plan! Would love to see how yours turned out for inspiration.
Hmm, "Too Much" seems like a good description. We have probably spent like a small LGS. We offset by selling our extra, but we have a large hole to dig out of :)
Rich? nah. I have a great paying job, but we had spent a few years saving to go to various Disney parks and a cruise, and then Covid happened and our desire to see the various parks eroded, so we ended up with a decent cache of fun money burning a hole in our pocket lol. And yes, we got overexcited about grading, spent way too much on it early on, and have since slowed down a bit on it 😂
Cool channel. Love seeing graded card returns

Holy shit no way i got your channel recommended after checking your insane collection on collectr! Amazing vid keep up the great work!

Such a big advantage being local to BGS. Awesome Video!

Amazing video guys! Also I gotta ask where do you get those giant versions of the one piece TCG cards?
Thanks! Also, we made them. A little photo, a little AI scaling, and a canvas print service 😁
@ thank you! Going to have to give this a try
Recently submitted a Signed Luffy. It came back a Black Label :) Nice results! but 9% is a little rough. Im ready for the next reveal now.

I went with PSA. Easy 10’s
Love the vid ❤

i got a manga shanks black label 10, sold it on ebay last year though
Awesome. Ours was...not so pristine, but we love it anyway. Hopefully you sold yours after prices started to spike in late October-ish?

I submitted 3 winner nami cards and 2 got black labels. Sold one to the shop owner I submitted through.
Ah wow, very jealous of that. I wanted a Winner Nami BL so bad! May have to keep trying.
Are both the Nami & Rob Lucci L PAR BGS 10 for sale? If so, how much would they be?
I believe the Nami will be for sale once we determine her value, but Lucci is going in the personal collection.

You collect pre-erratas? Those who’d be most collectible aside from tournament winner cards.
We really don't care much about Pre-Errata. Definitely comes with a higher price tag, and not one really worth it to us.

Also on the list!
The grader was pissed off because he has to grade a bunch of cards. Never submit bulk because the cards grade depends on the mood of the grader.
Interesting thought. These slabs were spread across 5-7 orders, but I'll be curious now if our more recent submission will perform.
Truth!
@@BillionBeri I would suggest to re-submit the high value cards only, I believe some them got pop controlled.
I've sent a lot in my orders still hit 90%+ PSA 10 rate. Have to be picky with what you send.
If thats the case u go w ai grading 😂
Be better off cracking n regrading then GCR it’s same price
Completely agree. I don't even know how someone could reliably regrade a card through the slab and sleeve anyway.
