- Hello Folks!
It's no secret that boardgames are really, really expensive. Today we are absolutely thrilled to bring you our top 5 board games under $50 (CAD)
This list was spawned as we know times are tough right now, and on top of that, new gamers are intimidated by the ludicrous prices of some of the games being released in today's crowdfunding-first market. All of these games together would make a FANTASTIC collection, and they're all very affordable.
Both of us have our top 2 most played games in here (Jeff #5 and #1 and John #2 and #1).

Great topic! Tuned in 😎💯
Another great series of games is the Tiny Epic series, every game is under $40 and comes in a small compact box with a full game inside.
Great list! Have not heard of Beer & Bread and it looks really interesting and will check it out. Thanks for this great video!
Beer and Bread is fantastic :) very welcome!
There’s more offers than ever now too.
Absolutely. We didn't include sale items because it varies all over the world but there are some faaantastic sales. Ark Nova under 50 is an amazing pickup, as is Brass: Birmingham
Great list! Scout is a ladder climbing game, it has no suits just numbers, someone places something and you try to defeat it with something better. Trick taking is cards with suits, placing a single card that leads and must be followed. Also in trick taking there is often a trump suit that surpasses what is used to lead.
Trick taking and ladder climbing operate on a similar premise that, but you're technically correct. Thanks for clarifying for our viewers. I've pinned the comment!
I only have one of the games mentioned in this video and that is Beer and Bread. I’ve only played it a few times with different people and it’s great game design for 2 players. Artwork and component quality is very good. I see quite a few other games in the video that I’m going to seriously consider. Really appreciate that your money conscious in this video so that the gaming hobby can be open to more people. Plus, many of the games you reviewed seem to have good quality components too.
That's fantastic news! Let us know if you pick up any of them :) someone has to be money conscious with the thousands of dollars of gamefound and kickstarter out there.
Cool new Canadian channel. 👍
🇨🇦🍁 welcome!
I’ve only played Cascadia solo. I’m betting it’s great multiplayer. Super list!
It's about the same :) such a great game!
I really like Parks. Nature themed relaxing games are fun. I also have Wolves, Beer and Bread, and Cascadia. Cascadia is such an easy game to teach and play. Thanks for the list.👍
No problem :) seems like we agree on most of these 🫡
I haven't heard anyone talk about Wolves! I have to check it out!
It's definitely a fun area majority game! Let us know what you think :)
Great list! I haven't played them all, but I love Parks, Scout, and Cascadia! Have you guys tried Radlands? That would be my personal #1 game under $50.
We have and it's fantastic but we felt like too many card games would feel like taking an out... it's the same reason we didn't include Innovation, which is fantastic.
Great lists! Shout out for Scout!
Scout is a hit wherever we play it :) glad you enjoyed our lists!
Real question: I noticed a LOT of Canadian board game tubers. Nothing wrong with that, my favorite channels for board gaming are Canadian, including you guys. But I’m curious if it’s a cultural thing or if it’s a TH-cam thing? Like, are board game nights more common up there compared to the US? 👍👍
I've never lived in the US, so I can't comment on that, but I host a game night every weekend here :) that's how all this started. We really appreciate you tuning in!! - John
@@ChitsandCardboard we’ll either way, glad to be getting started in the hobby and glad to find channels like yours. Still trying to figure out how to stop buying everything I find 😂
@benjaminwyatt3778 and such is the battle. Best advice I can give is either play each game 5x or sell before you buy more once you hit 50 or 100. Set a number and stick to it :)
It might be because it's cold and have more interest in indoor recreation? But yeah there's tons of great Canadian board game youtubers
Interesting list, but I’d pick, Targi, Air Land & Sea, 7 Wonders Duel, Great Plains, Undaunted, Modern Art, Condottiere, …. Will take a look into Wolves though, thanks for that one.
Modern art and 7 wonders Duel are both great picks! We wanted to stay off the beaten path a bit but you can't go wrong with those titles!
@@ChitsandCardboard OK, makes sense. Thanks for your list, am enjoying your channel.
Well, thanks! We're still trying to figure out what people like and we are glad to hear we're doing something right :)
Ayyeeee
