It's both, he doesn't want to force Blitz anymore. For the longest time, he thought Blitz loves him because they went to bed and felt joy, he slowly and surely figured that Blitz wasn't happy all the time. He felt guilt for this, especially when Asmodeus straight up told him that he hated the idea of forcing someone. Stolas slowly gets the puzzle pieces together and this is his conclusion, yet he also wants to see if Blitz would like to stay with him and if Blitz perhaps does have feelings for him. When Blitz was starting to think it was a roleplay and pretended, Stolas stopped him and figured that maybe Blitz has never loved him in the first place. It's also why Stolas abruptly left, these two struggle so bad with communication problems.
Blitzo's self hatred and issues he has towards royals just keeps getting in his way. Also the bubbles kind of unintentionally foreshadow how this episode would end because he's the only one that knows and understands how he really feels about Blitzo and how much he cares about Blitzo in the relationship and inevitably ended up alone at the end.
My thing is this. The agents wanting to invade hell is a very bad idea on their part. They couldn't even handle a couple of imps, who are the weakest and lowest ranking of hell. They have no idea the powers they are messing with. They are way in over their heads.
The extra funding they received got them confident haha.
Good point about the echo! That makes me recall that when Striker was trying to convince Blitzo to join him, when he spoke about the classism/racism Blitzo has had to endure, an echo effect was used then, too, to show that Striker had struck deep.
It’s those same issues that are coming to the surface here, so having an echo happening here is also a great way to show those deep issues finally being released in Blitzo’s own words.
Also if you remember they had "played" pirates when they were kids, and interestingly enough when Stolas put his book back on the shelf, before he puts the grimoire in place you can read the title of the red book next to it, which is pirates.
Most of us saw this coming, but somehow it still hit hard when it happened ... man, both Brandon (Blitz) and Bryce (Stolas) were flexing their voice acting skills in the ending

When I saw the Combat Priests growing in those tanks, I thought of the Clone Troopers from Star Wars. And the portal as it booted up, reminded me of both Stargate SG1, and Doom. The ending to this episode is quite heavy as well. I liked it quite a bit.
This had me emotional because I understood how Stolas felt when he said that

I feel pretty sad for blitz in all of this. Blitz has never shown much of an obsession over the book in actual episodes, the whole premise of the full moon nights was sex, we have no indication other than specific episodes that stole us met with him more than once a month, Yes, blitz doesn't believe anyone could love him, but you don't tell someone that you love them in mixed up incomplete sentences after 2 years after becoming reacquainted where 3/4 of that stolas was married to someone. A lot of the time stolas has treated blitz like a boy toy in public rather than like they were in a relationship. Stolas needs communication skills.
Stolas’s line at the end is so powerful and so emotionally charged. It reiterates the feelings Blitzø and Stolas have towards each other, but proves that they are different. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

He didn't kill anyone in season 1 episode 6, just used the blood of the corpses IMP left behind.
2:37 Blitzø wants to keep it casual because he think this is all this is about. He is so fully convinced Stolas sees him only as sextoy he doesn’t even phantom the idea he could feel something more for him, so when he find himself thinking too hard about thir relationship/feeling something for Stolas he just tries to bottle it up. And that’s why he also so oversexualises the situation and himself in the final scene (which is i agree painful to watch). And also why when he said “I’m not fucking you good enough because i can always do better” it breaks me

Look, I get it, Stolas is out of antidepressants and he wanted to get it over with, but he presented the gift all wrong! He could've presented it at the end of the night, or maybe presented it before he asked for the book, so he wouldn't still be reeling from the shock and fear of suddenly losing his livelihood! Maybe if he started with "Before we do all that, Blitzy, I have a present for you. One that I think you would appreciate very much." and THEN present it, talk about how much he loves him, how guilty he felt about how transactional their relationship had been, and then, only once that was over and they'd talked things out, he could inform him that, since he has that now, he doesn't need to borrow the Grimoire anymore, maybe even remark about being able to teach Octavia magic properly now and he hoped he could see him again sooner than the full moon.
NOT WHAT HE DID! Blitz had a VERY reasonable reaction to suddenly having all that piled on him right after feeling shock and fear about suddenly losing his livelihood and I don't understand why people are piling on him so much! And then, when he realized it wasn't a game and wanted to actually talk it out, Stolas said "I have my answer" and didn't even TRY to talk it out properly! What a mess! How was Blitz supposed to assume it wasn't some weird roleplay when Stolas had been making everything about their bedroom activities and how hot he was ever since they first met again!
Every reaction, I cry alottle bit more over the sadness of their love. I can't waitnfor the happy again.

Don't forget that Stolas *doesn't know* what happened between Blitzo and Fizzarolli. He only know that there was something between those two because Asmodeus said it in S2E6 "Oops". Since that accident Blitzo lost so many people that are close to him - his mother, his sister Barbie and his best friend/first love Fizzarolli. And since then he changed: now he has trust issues and can't/won't handle his own emotions. Also he hates himself because he thinks that it was all his fault and now he has feelings of guilt. That's why he can't look at himself in the pictures. He closed himself off to protect himself. That's why he reacts with anger when Blitzo doesn't know what to do. Stolas doesn't know that. And that's why he is hurt.
Yet Blitzo played to all his insecurities that he said in the song "When I see him":
- I know that it won't feel so tough (Blitzo is his soft spot)
- I'll fucking die alone if this goes bad (because now he only has Octavia)
- Am I doing something I can't take back? (that he won't be able to fix this relationship)
- Would he want me if he was free? (fear of rejection)
- What kind of monster does that make me? (fear of asking too much)
And now Stolas thinks he doesn't deserved to be loved by Blitzo. Or that he ever will.
However Blitzo did see the tears in Stolas eyes and realized he went too far.
Now it's up to Blitzo to take the first step.
