Damn thing will not connect to wifi, it is supposed to be easy to install but it seems I have to go get an IT specialist to get it working. How about providing customers with a comprehensive manual. Directing people to a website that does not address all the potential problems is asinine. I have scoured TH-cam for answers all to no avail. So as far as I am concerned is an expensive JUNK!!!
We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.
Very helpful, I think this is what we'll buy. (The music has to go--distracting and makes it harder to hear you.)

I have followed all of the instructions and watched the video. I have the wifi endcode with alarm. I have installed it and un installed it about 3 times because after putting everything on and trying to manually locking from the inside it will on move the deadbolt about 1/8 of an inch. Before I try to do this for the 4th time, and this may be a dumb question, do I need to put the batteries in for the door to be locked manually? I think not because if the batteries were dead that I can use the key on the outside and the turn knob on the inside. Any idea what the problem could be. I was thinking the pin is not long enough but it does appear to be aligned and fitting into the place. Thank for any help.

Maybe try to reset the lock to the factory settings and try it all over again.

I have a 3" door. Is there extension hardware so the encode will work on a thicker door?
Technically it’s possible but you’ll need 2 longer side screws that holding the Metal mounting bracket on the back side of the keypad and a longer tailpiece which is only a special order from Schlage manufacture so I’m not really sure is a good idea after all.

Is it compliant with most city codes on an individual units entry door for condo buildings that have condo units that are only interior accessible?
I’m not sure about each city individually... but it’s a very famous Lock brand and it will work just fine for any front door in a condo or a house.
I honestly don’t think you should have any problem installing it, but if you want to make sure you can call the building department on your jurisdiction for further information etc

Might be a silly question... but with this smart locks does it matter if its a right-sided or left-sided door? Is the lock compatible with both?
Yes it’s Automatically adjust the side when you install it and put one of the user codes on the provided user Manuel or on the programming process on the app.
So yes don’t worry, it will figure if it’s a right or left-handed side door automatically
Which smart lock would you recommend for exterior door, since you recommend this for interior door?
No, I do recommend this lock the Schlage Encode for exterior door for a house but not for commercial business exterior door (will work good for interior door in a business etc)
The reason why I said that it’s because the Schlage Encode designed for residential use and Light commercial use only as it’s not comply with commercial building codes etc.
It’s a Grade 1 by ANSI/BHMA and have very good security for houses, even more with upgraded cylinder as I mention in the video and other videos in my channel about the Schlage Encode.

If you want a lock that work with Amazon Key you should’ve gone with Schlage Encode.
How resistant is Encode to picking or drilling?

Will this set up requires phone and lock under the same network? 2: if a theif try to unlock the door with certain tools, will this device send any code me? or making noise? 3: can I send someone a temporary code to unlock the door? 1. Being honest I’m not sure about integration in a different country/ location. You can call Schlage Customer service for more information.
2. If someone try to unlock the door it will send you push notification so you’ll know about it.
3. You can definitely send temporary codes and do schedule hours/days etc.

So with the Schlage Encode smart Wi-Fi Deadbolt you will be able to use any Code that you programmed even if the Wi-Fi is down.
You’ll also have the key to override the lock mechanically, but like you mentioned you won’t have the key with you all the time so the code will give you access in case your WiFi is not working.
Just make sure that you have enough battery power to operate the lock.
I always recommend to change the batteries every 6 to 8 months (depending on the usage)

If I have existing Schlage locks on my home, can I swap the cylinders so it's keys the same as my other locks?
Yes you can but for that we’ll need to call a local locksmith to come to your house and rekey the locks or remove the locks by yourself and take them to a locksmith store front so they’ll rekey all of your locks to fit the same key.

you can have it re-keyed by a locksmith. Just did that yesterday. Cost about $25 where I went and took about 20 minutes, Just bring the key you want to have work in the lock

So you probably need to reset the network settings on your account and make sure to choose the 2.4 ghz and not the 5 ghz if your router is dual band.

Yes the Schlage Encode don’t need a WiFi adopter to connect to your home network.
The thing is that it’s not working with SmartThings app.
It work with Schlage Home, Key By Amazon, Ring App, Google assistant, Amazon Alexa app.

Does their phone help like always take a very long time to reply. I called yesterday and again today. Waited about 1/2 hour yesterday and going on 45 minutes today.

If it’s got lazy tailpiece it might work and it’s need to be Kik Cylinder that can fit into a deadbolt lock as well
Great video. However, once you press the button to program you lose the saved codes for other people. The phone app only allows for a single code to be used. Every time you have to press the button to link up it cancels whatever codes are stored,. Anyone know how to get around this?
It really shouldn’t do this.

So that’s a very good question.
The Schlage Encode Smart WiFi Deadbolt is a WiFi Lock and not Bluetooth lock so you’ll have to contact it to your Home/Business WiFi to control it from your smartphone remotely or not, otherwise you’ll have the keypad option to enter the house or the manual key.
I have the Schlage Sense lock and am disappointed that I can not set temporary codes for airbnb guests that activate and deactivate automatically. Can the Encode lock set up a specific date and time to activate and deactivate. so that on a code becomes active say oct 5 at 2pm and deactivates at oct 10th at 11am? I know the Sense can have repeating windows like monday to friday, 9am to 5pm. but I need something continuous fr a period.
With the Schlage Encode you will be able to: “Manage multiple unique guest access codes and schedule them for certain times of the day. You control who enters and exits your home. You don’t need to change anything it’s supposed to be available as an additional WiFi network 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz if your router is dual band.
If for some reason you don’t see it’s probably because you connect to the 5 ghz on your smartphone, so disconnect from your home WiFi on your smartphone and try to find the same network name but the one that say 2.4 and try again to prog the Schlage Encode.

You can use it without the WiFi and to use Alexa you have to connect it with your WiFi.

You can do it through the app, by creating extra users
What I notice is that if I set someone up with a Virtual key as an admin they will be able to see the admin code.

I am having so much difficulty pairing my encode lock to my Amazon key account. I have gone through the exact steps as shown here in the video. When I get to the step to press the button on the back of the lock, it does not beep after it is released and the Amazon key app simply cannot locate my lock. I have tried several times to factory restore my lock and still no luck. Any suggestions?? Thank you so much!
Try to delete the lock from your Schlage Home app and delete the account completely after that reset the lock to the rectory settings again and then program the lock this time with Amazon key app.

@@S.E.Locksmith thank you…I am now able to get the lock to pair with Amazon key but the next step in the process is to connect to the wifi network…my network shows up in the list and I type the password in but the Amazon key screen just consistently reads “Connecting To Wi-Wi…” but never actually connects…in the Schlage app I have no problem connecting the lock to wifi there…not sure why Amazon key won’t connect to wifi? The network is not a 5G, it’s just a regular 2.4 Ghtz…Any thoughts on this?

First Try to remove the lock from your account from the Schlage home app and after that reset the lock to the rectory settings and do the programming once again, maybe it will fix the issue and if not so Try to connect Schlage technical support over the phone to address this issue
No HomeKit - that’s crazy.
I’m still researching, but there is no reason to go with Schlage’s much older locks.
So, for me it’s a pass on the Encode.
Schlage may add the HomeKit in the future but regardless it is in fact one of the best keypad for residential in the market!
Yet again this is my professional opinion.
I bought the Encode with the ring 2 and i am having difficulty syncing the lock with ring. The key app says my lock is not registered? I have set it up and connected to network and it is very functional but it wont register it... Do you know what this means? It seems like the Key app is malfunctioning. please help... Doug
It’s very common problem.
I will try to delete the lock reset it to the factory settings and also remove the lock from the Amazon account and from Schlage Home app and try again.
Otherwise I’ll try to call Schlage Customar service for further assistance.

@@S.E.Locksmith So i removed my lock from my Schlage app, i removed my lock from Amazon Key, I also removed the camera from Ring. To restore everything 1st i added the Encode lock to Schlage app, then i added the lock to the Amazon key app, next i added the ring 2 camera to the ring app and finally i tried to add the Lock to the devices on my ring app and Ring does not see that my lock has been set up. ###@@#@!. I am Waiting for a call from the upper level customer support at Amazon Key.

On the Schlage Encode you can change the code right from the app or if you don’t use the app you’ll have the White sticker on the installation manual that you should have in the box when you bought it.

Yes you can as long as you have good covering from rain etc
How to change handing?
By doing the reset, so you can switch the door to lock from right side of door to left side or vice versa.
Here's the steps to perform a factory default reset (FDR),
1. Take off the battery cover.
2. Press and hold the black circle reset button to the right of the thumb turn on the inside of the lock. The LED will flash red. Keep holding the button until the LED stops flashing red.
3. The LED will light solid blue when the FDR is complete. It may take up to 10 seconds before it lights.
4. Your lock is now reset to factory defaults! If you want to pair to a smart home system, press the NEXT > button for instructions.
You can factory reset your schlage encode if you
* want to move my lock to a different door.
* forgot your programming code.
* connected the Encode to a smart home system but want to unpair, erase all of the codes, and restore all the default settings.

Try to do factory reset and if this doesn’t help call Schlage customer support and if this doesn’t help try to return the lock to the place you bought it and buy a replacement one
