Just bought this keyless entry lock, The Schlage Encode Century Smart Lock, Model #BE489WB V CEN 619. I think this is the exact one you're demonstrating here. Your vid is very informative. You are the second person recently to ask about a gold ring. If you don't see it in the video, then i would guess it is some sort of adapter that has been added to the package that might be needed in specific situations and probably isn't necessary. Unless it's the brass plate that is the first thing that goes on the back side to hold the front part against the door. I am not really sure what it is.
You have to put the screws in without being able to see the back side. So honestly that is probably the hardest part of this whole install. Once you find the hole, I sometimes turn the screw slowly backwards until you feel the threads click. Then start tightening. That helps me line the threads up straight.
@@RoscoReviews ah okay so twist the screws counterclockwise to make sure the threads line up, and then go counterclockwise to screw it in all the way? I’ll give that a try!
If the hole in the door isn’t the right size it can cause a little bit of a gap. Not sure if that’s the issue here. Make sure it’s not pinching the wire between the inside part and the door.
Without WiFi, the key pad still works. When the battery dies (if you use the app it will warn you quite a while in advance! Then you can unlock it from inside with the thumb turn, or there is a key for it from the outside. But the whole point of the keyless is that you won’t be carrying the key. I suppose you could hide it somewhere or leave it in your car or something.
I believe you are referring to the plate that goes on the inside of the door to hold the front side on. Before you put the back side on. If that’s the case. It is the first part that goes on the inside of the door.
My wifi sees the lock, my bluetooth works with it, but I can not control it via wifi or online. Also I can not get it to update, it won't finish the update process. I have another one, since I wanted to use 2 different locks, but I have not opened the second one yet. I wanted to make the first one work good first. Yes, my wifi router is within a few feet. The router sees it as a device that is connected. I'll keep trying...
I am not sure if this is the case with these locks. But some devices like this which band it is connected to on the router matters. Many/most routers have a 2.4 and a 5. If the device is picky about which one, then it typically needs to connect to the 2.4 (sometimes it’s not labeled. But the 5 is. So it’s the one that’s not 5) It may also be possible that the router only has the 5 turned on. In which case, if it needs the 2.4 than it won’t work. Im sorry. I know that I didn’t explain that very well. But if I were trouble shooting it, that is what I would check first.
TFS I am the main holder how to allow all 4 members of my family to use their phone to open the door, This has been the hardest to set up for me Thank you
I believe that multiple phones can download the app and sign in using the same login. Then they will have the same access. I haven’t tried it, but it should just be a matter of logging in as the same user.
I have never set mine up for that, so I’m not sure how confusing it is to set up. But, yes. It is suppose to work with Alexa as well as the amazon key for deliveries. I never set mine up because I was worried that someone could be standing outside and ask Alexa to open the door and she would let them in… but there may be some safeguard to that and I’m just being paranoid. Lol
Great lock. Home Key only works with my iphone. When I scan with my apple watch Series 4, the homekey shows up on my watch, says done but the bolt doesnt slide. I've rebooted my watch, phone, removed the watch from my phone, deleted and downloaded the Schlage app and reinstalled everything. My watch still doesnt slide the bolt. Spoke with Schlage and did it all agin with them, still nothing. I'm thinking the Series 4 Watch maybe the issue. This is the only part I am disappointed with. The apple watch.
Interesting. I have an old apple watch (series 2 or 3) but I have never tried it. I like being able to check it on my phone to make sure I locked things up, or if I need to let someone in when I am not home. I didn't even know they made the app for the watch. hopefully its just a software issue and they will update the watch app to solve it eventually.
It’s hard to say without looking at it, but that sounds like what it does when the battery is dead. If you have changed out the batteries and it still does that. You may need to check the connection between the front and back panels.

5:14 I’m having so much trouble with these screws! I cannot get them to go in straight. They keep getting angled.

Great video my inside part will not sit flush for some reason. Also that metal frame is different

Mine just beeps turns red and doesn’t work. Any keypad touch shows a blinking red light

If it’s connected to WiFi you could check in the app to see if it tell you an error.
Mine does the same thing, I changed the batteries out too. Is there a vacation mode or lock mode on these ?
