Hardened hookbaits only last 3 hrs where I'm fishing in Amsterdam. But we have a high volume of Chinese Mitten Crabs which are more brutal than Crays (which we also have).

I use plastic baits 90percent of my fishing now as the lake I’m on has crayfish but must say my catch rate has gone up and still going up and you can relax and enjoy fishing because you know your rig is working all the time

Was out for 3 nights till Sunday and had only 4 fish but all were on hardened boilies with plastic corn tips, not on pure plastic which I also used. So, I don't think you can say this works everywhere.. Maybe your water is plastic fantastic but mine isn't!

Yesterday I had my hardened popup bolies destroyed within the hour by crayfish. 1 hour! Worse, my popup and sinking fake corn were destroyed within 90 minutes! Not pulled off the rig, no, I mean torn to shreds on the hair! There has been an explosion of crayfish over the past 2 weeks and its going to make some areas of the dam totally unfishable!
