The 2018 review of yours helped me make up my mind. 6 years later with 92k kms on the odo it’s been a brilliant decision! Thanks for the fantastic reviews
When I bought my ‘18 AT DCT I suffered buyers remorse. Luckily, I had three other bikes so I was able to incrementally come to grips with the bike, especially the DCT. Now, especially since it’s farkled up with better seat, exhaust system, suspension and other “upgrades” I love the beast. I pondered buying the ‘24 with the 19” front wheel but . . . naaa, think I’ll hang on to this one. We’ve bonded.
@@TheMissendenFlyerI think this is a keeper. Although my wife who rides the 900 GT might be interested in the latest standard AT if that happens nothing like it.
I've recently sold a Tiger 1200 Rally Pro and brought the 24 AT Adventure sport DCT model . I absolutely love the Honda over the Tiger. Being able to flat foot the bike is a massive advantage over the Tiger. The engine is so smooth in comparison , easy to ride over long distances and that Honda build quality is spot on. 👌
Nice overview Andy, the base model is the one I would go for, given the opportunity. I like that you can avoid the electronic suspension, which would be very expensive to replace when it breaks or wears out, and the seats low position of 235mm me and I can put my feet down enough to be comfortable with it.
Yup. I got the ‘21 standard. I had gotten kind of spoiled riding a BMW RT 1250 with electronic suspension, but the truth is the Africa twin suspension is infinitely adjustable and I really haven’t missed the electronic suspension at all.
Hello Flyer! I purchased a used 2019 AT Base, installed a 7" Carpuride for maps and comms. It's such an impressive machine. In true Honda fashion, it's not earth shattering at any one thing, but a solid performer at everything.
I had an Africa Twin for a year or so before I moved to BMWs. It was a fantastic bike, and without question it would give the 1250GS a run for its money off the line. The bike is quick and nimble, very flickable. Just a joy to ride. The seat wasn’t as comfy as the GS/GSA but still ok. It was a bit tall for me even though I had a low seat installed. I’d be interested in trying out the newer version that is somewhat lower than the ‘21 model I had. Another good video, Andy!
Thanks for the update. I like my 2017 Africa Twin CRF 1000 L so much that I stopped looking at new bikes. The basic value proposition alone makes it a keeper. This is the Labrador Retriever of adventure bikes: not the best at anything, but really good at everything. An easy keeper that won’t keep you awake at night wondering what will go wrong next. Just buy gas, oil, and tires as necessary. The AT is a loyal and faithful companion for any adventure.
Nice video! Owned a 2017 for four years. Literally stopped riding my other bikes after I bought it. My problem with that model, too tall and the harmonic vibrations of 270 crank drove me crazy on longer rides. You’ve got my interest once again and now I’ll need to go look at the 2024 model. Recently bought a 2012 RT and am loving the boxer engine. Rode in 10 Celsius- 50 f. This week with heated seat and grips. What fun.
I changed my RT for the AT this July to use as a touring bike as it's so capable and easy to use. Went for the 'standard one' with DCT and the ES as it's lighter and easier to manage than the Adventure Sport version (I'm just an inch taller than you Andy). What a machine, first tour a week after getting it was a 5K euro jaunt similar to Mr&Mrs F recently. Also two up and Honda three part luggage system, wow what a machine and no worries for gravel parking places or light trails when needed compared to a full-on tourer. Glad you enjoyed riding an AT again Andy! Cheers.
Hey TMF! Better looking and way better value than the 1300GS. Much more accessible now. Honda motor excellent. DCT excellent. I’d never buy a GS whilst this is on offer.
RD03, RD04, RD07, RD07a, CRF1000, CRF1000. One of the best bikes I ever owned was my 2003 RD07. I rode it round the 5 capital cities of England and Ireland in under 24 hours. Must try one of the latest models someday.
My brother has the Crosstourer 1200 with DCT having moved from a Blackbird to show a bit maturity😂. Swears it's the best bike he's ever had even though he had reservations about DCT but now a believer. Always liked tge Africa Twin though.
I concur with your brother. I’m on my 2nd crosstourer. 1st was a manual then bought a DCT. Both bikes are superb and will run it to it dies lol. Can’t see past it . Does everything and not full of electronics just abs, traction control and that V4 engine is fantastic.
As soon as you mentioned Ruislip, I guessed you got it from HGB. I bought my first 'proper' bike from them, a CX500, in 1981. Nice to know they're still around.
Many thanks for the video Andy. You should ride the new ATAS version that has a 19” front wheel, and is even lower than the standard 1100 version. I’ve recently swapped my 1250 GSA for a 2025 ATAS ES DCT: one of the main reasons for this is that I have had a total left knee replacement and the DCT makes things so much easier. Also it’s lighter than the GSA. The 19” wheel now makes the bike a lot more roadworthy, and its handling (IMHO) is on par with the GSA. Having now clocked 3k miles on it, I much prefer it to my GSA (had three of them and were all brilliant) in every way. As you said in commentary, the switch gear looks complicated, but you soon get used to it. Definitely a bike for consideration if you’re thinking about a new adventure bike. Cheers, Andy.
... had 5 Hondas with DCT - fantastic gearbox, but have just placed an order for a new GSA with Automated Shift Assistant - very impressive despite only having the one clutch - something to look into next time ...
Great bike, I had one of the first DCT versions and loved it, very comfortable long distance bike, but very heavy if you drop it off road like I did many times !
I had a crf1100. When I read your headline I thought they had put a new engine in it! 😂 I found mine great to ride but under powered for long distance touring in our group.
Your videos are more than information, they are the threads that hold the fabric of society together. I'd go so far as to say they should be considered an essential basic need. Haha got ya! I'm just a sweaty human and not really a bot. Look, no bikini profile pic!
Puzzled as I thought the Adventure Sport WAS the road version and shorter... Did they change in the past? Took one for a two day off-road training a month or two back, loved it!
I’ve recently sold my GL having owned a couple over the last 15 years - the DCT version of the AT does appeal to me. The guys at HGB are brilliant. I’ve bought ½ dozen new bikes from them over the last decade, mainly for my kids.
Great review Andy and it must have been done a few months ago as I saw 31 degrees as the temp on the display. It was 37 degrees here on the Mid North Coast of NSW in Oz today.
My bud Ron Bedard took one from CA USA to the bottom of South America and all points inbetween and back up to Newfoundland Labrador had a sidecar built for it in Quebec then back to BC. Many thousands of miles. Only issue the countershaft bearing went bad and Honda warrantied it. Had to split the cases to put it in but they did for free. All good. Point is damn good machine. Much to consider going RTW.
I bought a brand new AF 24 DCT ES just 2 months ago, loved it until 3 weeks ago it was toaded after I collided with a hog… i broke my left arm. Ill get money to buy a 25’ version next year.
Hi Andy, great video and some of the most sensible comments I've heard in a while. I am in the bike trade and just put my wonderful multi v4s up for sale. It's an amazing bike but watching the fuel drop nearly as fast as the depreciation I've taken to riding a late AT, and you are so correct, a perfectly "adequate" bike for todays roads in the UK and its a Honda. The value difference between the adequate honda and the superb multi will buy your missus a nice used car and thats brownie points 😂 Keep it up and ride safe guys!
Hi again Andy, just noticing all the comments and there is a pattern of comparisons being made and I wondered if you agree with me on this, so,,,, The AT 1100 base is a Land-rover defender, capable of touring and well capable in the right hands of some fair offload exploring, whereas the 19 inch AT is more a tourer and puts itself directly head to head with the GS or multi where it loses out slightly other than price. Yet in the same category the multi v4s is a BMW M3 equivalent and in people's comparisons you wouldn't put a LR Defender on a track against an M3 so we have an adventure bike class of which the components are at complete opposites really depicting the need for each rider to carefully consider their requirements and expectations of the bike they choose. Pitts special v Harvard T6??
I’ve had two, they are fantastic touring bikes. Powerful, comfortable, packed with technology, great wind protection at any speed, mega reliable and they sound wonderful 😁 Need I go on.
"it's a bit of a two handed job" THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID! Buuuut in all seriousness, good review there. I agree with you that they've really refined the look of the bike, it looks so much...less! If that makes sense. I had the 2016 DCT model, which was a mistake, but this one looks really good new and I think they've really addressed all the riding dynamics that were flaws on my model. I like that the AS version is now way more road biased too, which is sensible (it's shorter for one). Although I'd go for the NT1100 I think, especially given the revision for '25.
I bought a 2024 Africa Twin about a month ago. I don't think I will be off-roading it much. I have had a couple of sport touring bikes in the recent pass, a Kawasaki Concurs and a VFR800, but those types of bikes seem to be fading away in popularity and the Japanese seem to be dropping those from thier lineups. So far, I like the Africa Twin a lot. Cheers from Arizona USA.
I bought a red standard AT with electronic suspension a month ago. Love it! And BTW standard AT weighs 231kg kerb. Atas is 10kilos heavier. That's why you feel the standard one is more agile.
Still a lovely looking bike, and possibly would be my next bike, if I was looking for a new, bigger bike. Infact 13 years ago I'd put a deposit on one, although I knew it was to tall for me, and a week later my son was looking at replacing his bike and I went back to the dealer with him, saw a Triumph 800 which was lower, and bought that instead. If my little legs had been 3 to 4 inches longer the Africa Twin would of been in my garage.
Another great report for someone to view if considering this bike - CRF 1000?? oops!. The price difference for DCT version has crept up over the years , but a fantastic addition!..thanks again for sharing 👏
Always liked them but as a short 5'10" 30" leg and coming back to biking it was always too tall and intimidating to even test ride but now............Thanks for the review!
Traded my Ktm 1290 SAR for an AF DCT, and I very happy with it... so easy to live with. Aldo, it would be even greater with a bit more power... just to pick on something. Great value for the money 👍
Haha yes, my mate was on his Ducati diavel last Ride out. The bike wouldn't start, but he informed me, he'd accidentally left the fob in his right pocket, not his left 😳😳
Hi Andy, Cars were frozen over this morning 🥶. I get an appointment for my frozen shoulder soon, hopefully they can do something to decrease the pain. I could reach the ground very easy on the first version and I guess that will still be possible. I can’t do that on the GS or other big adventure bikes. Nice touring bike, if I had the money, it would be on my list.
Best allround ADV and possibly all round bike I had an ATAS DCT loved it. I think it's defo in the top 2 best looking ADV. The controls are very easy to use once you've lived with it for a few weeks and read the manual?
A proper bike at last! I'm on my second Manual Adventure sports since 2020 although this time I have the 21 inch front wheel ES version. Won't ever part with it, I re-rode a GS Adventure recently and just didn't like it!
I've bought the 24 Adventure sport ES. Has gold handlebar forks and Rims. They now have the 19inch front wheel and are much lower than they used to be. I also went out of my way to get the manual as I already have the 23 Goldwing with DCT and I wanted to have a clutch on at least one bike. They are complicated andits one of the few bikes where I had to read the manual to find my way around the switchgear. Just putting on the heated grips was a faff.
@@TheMissendenFlyerMy tip to anyone struggling with controls is get a TH-cam video up. I did this for the Transalp and easy, whereas I struggle with written instructions on anything.
You strike me as more of a Multistrada man TMF? One for sale at Ducati Croydon with only 100 miles on for less than the price of an Africa Twin new! They're a sublime machine in my opinion.
I agree with you regarding preference to have a clutch when going off road, which I commented on a Richy Vida video where he was stuck on some rocks - Morocco trip, however he said it is better with the auto version, I am still with you though, overwise you would get the likes of Adam Riemann and Chris Birch riding autos. I have always found the statement “how the other half live” to be a little outdated, in so far as it is probably how the other 0.25% live 🤣
2020-2023 base and Adventure Sport were the same height, 2024 base is again the same height but the Adventure Sport is now lower so you may have been better with the Adventure Sport 😊
Just ridden one off road with Honda Adventure centre...very capable off road it was too. A little bit of road riding beyween venues but seemed ok very torquey and flickable in the twisties
I never understood why they didn't put the Africa twin engine in the CB Hornet chassis? They already have all the R&D to develop the engine and the chassis separately, combine them and you get another bike variation for free. At the time it would have been a trend setting, class leading bike as there were no other higher displacement 100ish HP parallel twin bikes available at all, now they kinda missed the boat on that one but I still think it would make a cool bike.
Still haven't sorted the instrument of torture that masquerades as a seat then, I liked my AT apart from the seat and the top heavy about to fall over feeling. Love my Triumph 900 GT pro more though.
Nice-looking bike. The ones I see parked up at Ponderosa look rather tall so I'm not surprised they've made the seat height a bit lower. Not really my type of bike but if it was I think I might go for the 750 Honda Transalp. I watched Freddie Dobbs go around the Yorkshire Dales on one in miserable weather and it looked convincing. It's also roughly £4k cheaper than the Africa Twin and 22 kgs lighter (which would help you off-road). What do you think? Is the Africa Twin 4k better than the Transalp?
Love my 1100AS, I'm shorter than you but don't find it an issue, agree the left control are complicated but once you've set your particular settings how often do you change them. I'm on my 3rd one now and despite watching your reviews on other manufacturers I struggle to move away to anything else, over 60mpg as well what else do you need?
Hondas Off Road Training School run by Dave Thorpe reckon that the majority of riders would be better off with DCT and it’s only the highly experienced off roaders who are better suited to the manual version I found the AT 1100 to be a blast and if you want to it certainly can be a hooligan, the engine note is as you say wonderful and for me really added to the whole experience
Once the novelty wears off, how many people actually use the complex functions like riding modes, suspension adjustment or adjustable abs and traction control. Does anyone really view all the computer readouts makers are piling on to bikes.
And i love my electronic options, i switch between throttle modes and suspension settings quite regularly, i prefer the softer and more chilled settings for plodding around locally or commuting and then i prefer the sportier settings for a day out scatching with a mate. It's good we're not all the same 👍
The handlebar clamps look like plumbing brackets from B&Q, they could have made them a little more attractive and purposeful as they will be in one's line of sight.
Dear Missenden Flyer. Is there any chance you could get another microphone to put near the exhaust? You are always saying how wonderful this bikes sound but your current microphone cuts it out 🤔 Just food for thought. Really appreciate your videos 🙏🏼💯
While you refer yourself as a ‘shortie’, in the world of motorcycles, it’s inseam that really matters. Your 32” inseam makes you rather tall when it comes to seat height.
Andy, very mush enjoy your bike reviews, just a thought, would you consider bringing back the service plan for the bikes your reviewing, up to the major service……not so much the cost, just the intervals….
Andy, was this example that you're riding suffer a "bend" or accident..? The handlebars on your video look bent looking at the "line" they follow across the top of the forks..? or, is it something to do with your camera. Just asking....That all aside this bike is one of my favourite bikes. Had the 2017 model back in 2017 liked it a lot. Like this 2024 version as well looks very handsome.
One of the best adventure bikes.. is it just me (or your camera mount angle on helmet) or your bike had a slightly off handle bar, turned more to left?.. misaligned a bit... the kind that can happen after a nasty fall
I think you got the weight wrong Andy…more like 231 kg. I love the look of this bike and wondered how it compares to the Transalp. Does it feel heavier…Transalp is 208kg. Is there a lot more power, or pull low down? And is the suspension more plush? I much prefer the AT looks, and now it has tubeless wheels it appeals to me as a tall rider who just rides locally for fun. But is it performance wise that much better than the Transalp to justify for the ES version an extra £4000? I would love to hear your comparison of this bike with the Tiger900 Rally Pro.
I do like the Africa twin and going against the trend often think of upgrading my NC750X...hmmmm that pillion seat doesn't look comfortable though?? It seems to slope down towards the rider a lot?? Overall nice bike though...cheers for the review.
Very nice bike! They have always been a good choice for a bit of adventure ride. Any possibility of your getting to test out the Triumph Bonny Speedmaster? Looks it could be a corker!
You've probably been informed. What you are riding is taller than the 2024 AFRICA twin Adventure sport that is actually lower in seat hight down to with also a 19 inch front wheel. I find the 2024 model more agile also. Must have tweaked the fork rake, or such. I'm a Honda guy through n through, had a 2021 africa twin and swapped it for a 2024 one. Also got the crf 300 for mucking about. Would compliment your wing, hint hint 🤪
I have to comment about those wheel stripes. Ugggly.!! RE's new Himalayan has subtle stripes ( only one color) that " really" looks super. So many choices-which one to buy.?? 👍👍
They are both great bikes - I'd probably have the Africa Twin as I find the Tiger too top heavy and I don't like the way they've mucked about with the firing order of the triple...marginal though - go with the one you like the look of most.
You are right to be confused, the Adventure Sports is indeed lower. It has lowered suspension, a 19 inch wheel in the front, comes with ES as standard, has a bigger tank, and is a bit heavier. On the 2024 models, the standard version is more tailored for off road use, and the Adventure Sports version is better adapted to road use. The standard version comes standard with off road tyres, versus the Adventure Sports that comes standard with road tires. I believe this should be acknowledged in the video as the information given is wrong.
Nice review as ever. I know it's a great bike, looks good too imo, but all the buttons & tech etc put me off for this type of bike. Not to mention the size & weight of it too but that's more because of my size tbh. Nothing wrong with it at all, far from it, but just not for me.
Had a choice between one of these and a KTM1090 when my Tiger 1200 Exploder emm exploded. That's another story but it was under warranty and the dealer was happy to get me out of it. Rode both the Africa Twin (AT) and the KTM1090 and ended up buying the KTM. Lovely bike the AT but I just found it to be tame, boring and lacking power. The KTM on the other hand, whilst not a polished was a absolute hoot to ride. I just keep thinking Honda have missed a trick with the AT and while it's a good bike, if they gave it another 20-30hp it could become a great bike.
You have to love the look of your bike. Honda have been way off the mark for years now with touring and adventure models. GW is ok but not in real world money.
I'm not a adventure bike guy but would definitely be this one. Looks awesome with this latest look. I believe they went with a smaller wheel in the front? I am biased towards Japanese bikes, reliable and good value. Honda more expensive I believe but quality. Great video.
Isn't the Adventure Sport now the more road-focussed version with an even lower seat? Not sure how much difference the smaller front wheel would make to the overall experience though, especially on-road. Also, I think your 213kg weight might be a typo :)
Saying that cruise control is better than having no cruise control is a very subjective statement. Others believe that having cruise control on a motorcycle is a step in the wrong direction when it comes to safety as 100% concentration is a basic requirement. Anything that allows a motorcyclist to switch off is a bad thing. At least with radar controlled cruise control there is some chance that your motorcycle won’t run straight into a slowing vehicle ahead of you but even then what does cruise control actually achieve?Using your right hand to control your speed is hardly tiring.
Yes at some point - I'm in no great hurry though, I'll let all the fuss die down a bit first and despite what everyone else says when they see it, I still find the bike ugly to look at....
I think when it comes to seats, they do break in. What is hard now may break in to fit your bum really nice. Before you buy your motorcycle you need to check what is available for factory and aftermarket seats just in case you decide to replace the stock one.
You should test the Adventure Sport Andy as has the smaller front wheel. I really liked it, something about the Africa Twin just a lovely bike
Yes it's become one of my favorite current ADV bikes...much improved on the original bike!

The handlebars look to be slightly to the left when you’re travelling in a straight line. Strange 🤷🏻♂️

Give one a try some time, it may surprise you on how well they ride and handle.

Keep it up and ride safe guys!
Thanks for the kind words Ian!
Hi again Andy, just noticing all the comments and there is a pattern of comparisons being made and I wondered if you agree with me on this, so,,,,
The AT 1100 base is a Land-rover defender, capable of touring and well capable in the right hands of some fair offload exploring, whereas the 19 inch AT is more a tourer and puts itself directly head to head with the GS or multi where it loses out slightly other than price.
Excellent quick review and observations 👏👏👏 looks a great bit of kit Andy 👍
One of the best of the 270 degree twins. Updated Transalp at Eicma today.
Totally agree. I also don’t like looking through the screen.
But if on a long ride on a big touring bike, I could get used to it.
TMF, I saw the new BMW 1300 GS Adventure on Saturday. Kind of looks like a giant toaster with wheels. Africa Twin looking sharp, though.
The DCT also adds weight I believe
@@chrishart8548 yes, added weight is dct
Still a lovely looking bike, and possibly would be my next bike, if I was looking for a new, bigger bike. Infact 13 years ago I'd put a deposit on one, although I knew it was to tall for me, and a week later my son was looking at replacing his bike and I went back to the dealer with him, saw a Triumph 800 which was lower, and bought that instead. If my little legs had been 3 to 4 inches longer the Africa Twin would of been in my garage.
I do love this bike, because of the extra weight and price i went for the Transalp but i have to admit the Africa twin is more handsome
Morning, great video as always...
May want to change title to 1100 Africa Twin 👍🏼
Another great report for someone to view if considering this bike - CRF 1000?? oops!. The price difference for DCT version has crept up over the years , but a fantastic addition!..thanks again for sharing 👏
Always liked them but as a short 5'10" 30" leg and coming back to biking it was always too tall and intimidating to even test ride but now............Thanks for the review!
Traded my Ktm 1290 SAR for an AF DCT, and I very happy with it... so easy to live with. Aldo, it would be even greater with a bit more power... just to pick on something. Great value for the money 👍
You chose poorly. lol. Just kidding. I went in the other direction but for an SAS. No other adventure bike compares except a Ducati V4.
Love to see it has a proper key no silly keyless rubbish 😁
Yes I’m with you on that!
💯, best place to store the key is the ignition
@ couldn’t agree more, my bikes keyless and I’m not a fan.
Haha yes, my mate was on his Ducati diavel last Ride out. The bike wouldn't start, but he informed me, he'd accidentally left the fob in his right pocket, not his left 😳😳
Hi Andy,
Cars were frozen over this morning 🥶.
Good luck with the shoulder....
@ U2
Best allround ADV and possibly all round bike I had an ATAS DCT loved it. I think it's defo in the top 2 best looking ADV. The controls are very easy to use once you've lived with it for a few weeks and read the manual?
Yes I'm sure it is....
Optioned out in USA they are about 24k USD. Much less than similar GS. Good vid 5832.
Great review. Really appreciate your hard work.
Much appreciated!
A proper bike at last! I'm on my second Manual Adventure sports since 2020 although this time I have the 21 inch front wheel ES version. Won't ever part with it, I re-rode a GS Adventure recently and just didn't like it!
Could be your camera angle but it appears the bars, maybe the risers aren't square with the forks..that always felt weird to me when that happened 😊
Yes the switchgear is complicated…
@@TheMissendenFlyerMy tip to anyone struggling with controls is get a TH-cam video up. I did this for the Transalp and easy, whereas I struggle with written instructions on anything.
You strike me as more of a Multistrada man TMF? One for sale at Ducati Croydon with only 100 miles on for less than the price of an Africa Twin new! They're a sublime machine in my opinion.
Nice review👍 My ATL is a beast.
Would love to see you do a comparison with the Desert X!
The persistent nag screen on start up would be the dealbreaker for me. I've got enough cookie pop ups in my life already.
Yes nice bikes these and the looks are growing on me…
Good looking bike...I do wish BMW would figure out the Apple and Android play....nice review
Nice looking bike so many good adv bike out there at the moment, thinks it depends on on the brand you like nowadays Andy
Very true!
How long have you had the Triumph?
How many miles have you done?
Reliable?
@alanbarnes2920 2023 with 3,000 miles, no issues at all .Apart from a useless tyre pressure monitor that gives false info, but they all,do that.
Hi Andy, have you done a review of the 750 Transalp? Just curious as the bike appeals more to me than it's bigger brother.
Not yet....
Mate you are the other half!😂😂
What a great looking thing. (The Bike)
Thanks for clarifying
Andy s not that ugly, but the Africa twin is better looking forward 😅
I really like these. Just recently had to replace my R1300GS with a MultistradaV4S but the ATAS was on the shortlist!
Was there a fault with your 1300? I’m still thinking of getting one. Cheers
What made you decide against the ATAS? Did you test ride it? I’m also considering it
@@philipTOMPSETT no fault, sadly it was stolen in Portsmouth while waiting on a ferry to France. The r1300gs is motorcycling perfection
@@carlosalonso9866 the Multistrada v4s is an itch I need to scratch!
@ yikes. Sorry to hear that.
Your on fire with the videos
Have you seen the new 450gs
Hondas Off Road Training School run by Dave Thorpe reckon that the majority of riders would be better off with DCT and it’s only the highly experienced off roaders who are better suited to the manual version
I found the AT 1100 to be a blast and if you want to it certainly can be a hooligan, the engine note is as you say wonderful and for me really added to the whole experience
Never mind that, how about the 450 BMW GS concept at Eicma, it may tempt some including me onto my first ever BM, scheduled for next year.
Once the novelty wears off, how many people actually use the complex functions like riding modes, suspension adjustment or adjustable abs and traction control. Does anyone really view all the computer readouts makers are piling on to bikes.
Your right way too many electronics I set manual suspension on my 850 GS 5 years ago never been adjusted since.electronics adding to cost and weight.
And i love my electronic options, i switch between throttle modes and suspension settings quite regularly, i prefer the softer and more chilled settings for plodding around locally or commuting and then i prefer the sportier settings for a day out scatching with a mate.
It's good we're not all the same 👍
Bike Magazine called these useless ‘features’ Yanky Boy Gizmos back in the 1980s.
The handlebar clamps look like plumbing brackets from B&Q, they could have made them a little more attractive and purposeful as they will be in one's line of sight.
the 2024 AS is actually lower, has a 19" front wheel and less suspension travel. So it's the more street oriented version.
At first glance from the cockpit, looked like you were on an XADV……! Very very similar view.
Dear Missenden Flyer. Is there any chance you could get another microphone to put near the exhaust?
You are always saying how wonderful this bikes sound but your current microphone cuts it out 🤔
Just food for thought. Really appreciate your videos 🙏🏼💯
Thanks for the suggestion!
While you refer yourself as a ‘shortie’, in the world of motorcycles, it’s inseam that really matters. Your 32” inseam makes you rather tall when it comes to seat height.
I agree being 5'10" and 29" inside leg 😮
The 2024 Adventure Sport is actually lower than the Standard model now. It's been turned into more of a road model.
Hope I don't sound like a knob, just noticed your title says 1000cc is it not a 1100cc Enjoying the videos 😊
Oops my typo - well spotted!!
Andy, very mush enjoy your bike reviews, just a thought, would you consider bringing back the service plan for the bikes your reviewing, up to the major service……not so much the cost, just the intervals….
Noted!
Think it's just the very wide angle lens....
One of the best adventure bikes.. is it just me (or your camera mount angle on helmet) or your bike had a slightly off handle bar, turned more to left?.. misaligned a bit... the kind that can happen after a nasty fall
What are you talking about being more manageable? The adventure sport is actually slightly shorter due to the smaller front wheel.
Yes you may be right on the weight - my bad!
I do like the Africa twin and going against the trend often think of upgrading my NC750X...hmmmm that pillion seat doesn't look comfortable though?? It seems to slope down towards the rider a lot?? Overall nice bike though...cheers for the review.
Nice bike...(psst I think you meant patrons...closing credits)...jus'sayin'🤘🏍🏁
No - I meant Patreons….
@@TheMissendenFlyer You did? What does it mean?
Very nice bike! They have always been a good choice for a bit of adventure ride.
Any possibility of your getting to test out the Triumph Bonny Speedmaster? Looks it could be a corker!
I’ve done the Speedmaster to death in the past - maybe again in a year or two!
Be interesting to see you review the Voge 900 for comparison with the AT and BMW 900
And the Kove 800x
You've probably been informed. What you are riding is taller than the 2024 AFRICA twin Adventure sport that is actually lower in seat hight down to with also a 19 inch front wheel.
I find the 2024 model more agile also. Must have tweaked the fork rake, or such.
I'm a Honda guy through n through, had a 2021 africa twin and swapped it for a 2024 one.
Also got the crf 300 for mucking about.
Would compliment your wing, hint hint 🤪
I quite k
Like the look of the AT in the Blue white and red it reminds me of the BMW FGSs
I have to comment about those wheel stripes. Ugggly.!! RE's new Himalayan has subtle stripes ( only one color) that " really" looks super. So many choices-which one to buy.?? 👍👍
I’m torn between the tiger 900 GtPro and the new Africa Twin 19in for road use ? Which would you go for and why
They are both great bikes - I'd probably have the Africa Twin as I find the Tiger too top heavy and I don't like the way they've mucked about with the firing order of the triple...marginal though - go with the one you like the look of most.
Wait now I'm confused. The base model is the lower one? The Adventure Sports is the lower one? Did they change things? 😮
Did you notice any engine heat to your legs ?Some reviews have mentioned it
Thanks
Didn't notice any....
HGB are still going? I remember them from the eighties!
They used to be the place to go to for Goldwings if I remember rightly!
Andy what about the new 900 Gs seems to get good reviews!
Isn't the Adventure Sport now the more road-focussed version with an even lower seat? Not sure how much difference the smaller front wheel would make to the overall experience though, especially on-road. Also, I think your 213kg weight might be a typo :)
Yes typo - apologies....
I find it is in heavy queuing traffic or on long straight runs....
Will you be reviewing the new GS adventure?
Yes at some point - I'm in no great hurry though, I'll let all the fuss die down a bit first and despite what everyone else says when they see it, I still find the bike ugly to look at....
@ That makes sense, I’ll look forward to seeing the video and thanks for the response.
I think when it comes to seats, they do break in. What is hard now may break in to fit your bum really nice. Before you buy your motorcycle you need to check what is available for factory and aftermarket seats just in case you decide to replace the stock one.
