    PS: just watched several of your videos. You remind me of the female version of James of "Wild Homestead". He's building a cabin by himself in Northern Ontario. In 7 months, he's gone from nothing to nearly 100k subscribers. My wife and I watch him every Saturday. If you post more often we'll watch you on Saturday as well. Thanks again.

      Yes I watch him from his first video. Every Saturday I'm waiting .lol she is killing it herself doing one hell of a job. I found her video yesterday it popped up i went back watching all hers.. to very hard working peeps

    Good Luck and keep at it! Solo clearing is hard! When you start milling you'll have a sudden charge of energy. Milling is when you feel like there is some accomplishment from all the clearing. Also, for me a wood chipper is surprisingly satisfying and a fun pause from clearing. Don't know what you do with all the banches but a chipper and fresh chippings are valuable. I've been working on my land for 3 years now, a 3/4 mile driveway, cabin, shed, garage all by hand.

    Safety. I just watched the opening,, and that is not likely to be representative, I apologize in advance. But,, When you cut a tree, and I assume a wedge cut and back cut,,, the moment,, the very moment that tree starts to move, you get the heck out of Dodge. You run. Butts can do many unwonderful things. The butt can leap forward, away from you,, very common with softwoods and tall softwoods,, but the butts can also leap backwards,, more common ion hardwoods and trees with large branches. Trees can barber chair,, and when that happens there is no predicting where they are headed. Butts can spin or slam left or right. The core of it is, you can cut accident free for years, days, or a lifetime. But,, it only takes once, just once and you are crippled for life or dead on the spot. A 'small' injury to a butt doing something creative is a bunch of busted ribs.
    Always clear the brush around the tree before you begin your cuts.
    Always plan your path of escape, usually away from the fall at a 45 degree heading, not straight to the side,, not straight back.
    The moment it begins to move, RUN dammit. Do not stay to watch until you are safe.
    If for every tree you do this correctly, you may not get to watch it fall or hit,, GOOD. Let the camera do that.
    I'm only a minute and half into the video and you already scared the crap out of me.

      And no earplugs or safety helmet or trousers.....sorry but very irresponsible. Not going to watch any further.

      Great advice!

    • @JML542
      @JML542 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! I was an OFA in a logging camp. There needed to be two people present. Those trees could go any direction, although the fellers were extremely, extremely experienced and laid them down beautifully day after day... but it only takes one bad branch or tree to be deadly. I know a guy who was working alone and his wife became a widow when the tree kicked back into his abdomen, and he bled out on the spot. 💔
      This gal needs to be staying back and wearing complete protection - helmet, safety glasses, chainsaw pants, etc.

    • @Sailor376also
      @Sailor376also 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JML542 I am not one to talk sometimes. Gloves, always. Ear muffs, sound wears you down rapidly. Shoes? Well you got me there. Size 15 EE and EEEE. I gave up trying to find boots decades ago. Chaps when I have them. I think chaps may be the most important safety item,, AND when they are scarred, chuck them, get a new pair. What stops the saw and saves your leg is the saw strips the fibers out to jam the teeth. A cut at mid thigh has pulled the fibers out of the chaps all the way down to your ankles and all the way up to the waist band. Chaps look fine,, except for the one tiny mark,, but there is nothing behind that looks good surface. Get a new pair.
      My basic advice still holds,, RUN away. Perhaps my most technical cut in my life,, the tree had to be spun around, more than 180,to extract branches, miss power lines and ease into the one tiny wedge of lawn large enough, and yes there are techniques to do that. Between houses and other trees,, when I cut the final bit,, and the tree began its dance,, I had 20 neighbors watching the show,, I never got to see a thing. Once it began to move,, the first tiny bit,, I ran,, between houses and behind trees and did not stop until I had turned the corner of the house. I heard the crash before I was able to turn. Big cheer from my neighbors,, worked perfectly,, and I was the only one who did not get to watch it. Saw the video later.
      I think I have seen trees do about everything, bounce, jump, swing, split,, The butts LOVE to do a dance. I saw the one video on here,, the log jumped back, went right between his legs,, and then bounced high, throwing him holding a running saw high into the air

    You go girl! My 28 year old daughter is a level 1 pipe fitter in the oil fields. She's top of her game already. You are just like her. TIP: If you plan to build a future garden site... make your slash burn there. The soil will thank you for it. TIP 2: Never trust a falling tree. As soon as it starts to go, get a long way back. They can kick back 10' to 12' in an instant. Great content.

      That comment about getting away from the tree falling is the first thing I noticed when I clicked play. It's real dangerous to stay close to a falling tree.

    Greetings, just discovered your channel this morning and this is my first one to watch and will watch the others also, please take a bit of advice when limbing saw on one side of the log and you on the other will save a cut where you don't want it like your leg etc, on the same topic cut those limbs off flush with the trunk it will save lots of headaches when you get them on the mill. Keep up the good work.

    Sweetheart, if you're there working alone please make sure you are extra careful with the chainsaws. I was just about you're age and clearing my land. My chainsaw caught a sapling I didn't see. The bounce back almost cost me my left leg. Thank God for bar stop safety. The motor killed the chain when my hand and arm went up. The only injury was my new Levi's 501's and an atrocious 8 inch gash on my upper Thigh. Very painful lesson. But you hang in there. As you work you will heal. I did also work thru 😔 and came out stronger on the other side. ❤
