I grew up in middle eastern Muslim family. As a teen (back in the 1990s) I met many converts, usually women marrying Muslim men. These women made me cringe!!! I am a woman btw and couldn't understand what women would want to be a muslims back then. Now I know, it is a clueless one.
Usually, those marriages break. Apostasy rates for Western women are significantly higher.

I was a potential convert in 1995. I got a quran, a mat, some books. I read it all and the one thing that I knew wasnt right straight away was that this Islamic version of God is somehow anti-sex, and yet obsessed with low-brow gratification as a reward in heaven, and in granting this prophet special low-brow privileges here on earth. This was big business in Iraq. The only place that it happened often that I know of. The Imam’s would sell a Certificate to sleep with basically the prostitutes (although they probably weren’t prostitutes by choice) and then the next day they paid a add’l fee to be divorced or set free from the contract.
My partners family are Muslims. He’s not religious but it’s his belief system. Over the last year I’ve become a lot more religious (Christian) and it drives him crazy our kids are learning Christian theology and not Islamic. But it’s not my job as a Christian to teach them about Islam.
I was looking into Islam prior to becoming born again and a Reddit thread with a Muslim man asking about dating a Christian woman and peoples advice and someone warned not to because the kids almost always end up Christian. I once read a news article about a Muslim male university student in UK who comes from a Sunni background. He was openly saying that he would do Mu'tah while he's a student in uni for experience. He said confidently how this is allowed in Islam and it shouldn't be seen in a negative way. A lot of religious (Sunni) Muslims were not very happy with this open admission of liking Mu'tah marriage.

I totally got a Muslim believing he had committed Shirk tonight when talking to him and pointing out that his denial of the Bible(specifically passages from the Book of Genesis in this case) showed that he was calling Muhammad and Allah liars when I showed him that the Quran said those passages of the Bible were true as far as they were preserved in the 7th century when Muhammad lived…. At first he was calling me a liar and saying I was speaking against his prophet, and I kept pointing out that I hadn’t spoken a single word against Muhammad in the conversation but that he had denied the claims of both Allah and Muhammad…. He finally realized I was correct after he tried to point out that the Quran was at odds with many things written in the Torah and I pointed out that he was committing shirk according to Islam with his line of reasoning and then he got super worried 😂

In my youth I believed that Islam was a religion like any other, emphasizing spirituality and moral behavior. Then I became an exchange student in the Middle East. There I learned that Islam is completely unspiritual and immoral. It isn't even a religion, just an oppressive, imperialistic political ideology with a thin patina of religion to make it respectable.

The logic behind this rule is if you can leave your spouse for pretty much any reason, what's the point of getting married in the first place? What value does your promise to be there in sickness and health, wealth and poor, life and death? If your wife, for example, gets cancer and needs financial or emotional help as her husband you are required to stay by God's law. If you leave her and replace her with another woman, you are considered a cheater

What's the difference in Islam between Muta and normal marriage? Can't a Muslim just divorce his wife whenever he wants with 3 talaks?
In muta the woman gets paid and knows when the divorce is coming
The main difference is that the woman knows from the beginning what the expiration date is. I think there are also some difference in the rights and responsibilities of both parties - a normal Muslim husband is expected to fully provide for his wife as long as they're married, but I think a mutah wife is only owed the up-front payment - things like that.
