So when I first played this scene with a friend, we chose to Kill Erin because we thought Erin could use the inhaler to buy herself an extra breath long enough for the doors to open, but obviously that didn’t work. We had no way to tell Kate could survive because of a leak in the window so we felt very cheated.

It was the opposite for me. I saved Erin because of her asthma and figured she couldn't hold her breath as long as Kate could
that’s exactly why i chose to kill erin too i’m so pissed off.
Chose to "kill" Kate for two reasons:
1. Jamie had the controls, wouldve made more sense for her to save Erin
2. Kate has a stronger "plot armor" than Erin, giving her a higher probability of survival.
One gamer I know that made a gameplay of this did a theory before decided to save Erin that there's also a clue given from two mannequin with their neck chained, because the mannequin on the left survived so is Kate that was on the left chamber
Question, how did u know kate has better plot armor?
@@bananajoe7365 mostly a guess on my part, erins been in more situations which were potentially fatal.
The teaser video of a playthrough before the official release showed Erin suffocating in that chamber at the end, one must ask if the game would really force you to pick between the two.

Two things I wanted to point out ☻️
1. Inhalers are medicine, not oxygen, if you feel cheated because you chose Erin to die since she had an inhaler that's not the games fault 😅 I just don't think a lot of people know what's in an inhaler which is okay!
2. Of course Erin is the only one who would die here, and it's not cause Kate has plot armor. It's because this trap is beatable as are most if not all are, if you give Erin the oxygen back Kate has enough time to figure it out. If you give Kate the oxygen back Erin's going to die because she is asthmatic and wouldn't last long at all without dissociatinting!

Called bs on this, if choose to save Ern, Kate still gonna live but if you choose to save Kate, Ern dies which is bs
either it's because Erin's room is done "better" so there was no leak there, or since Erin is asthmatic so she lost her focus way sooner than Kate to notice the leak and/or she gave all of her last focus/strength to tell the others about Charlie.
i mean, if it was me i would've chose to kill Kate not for some special reason but bc kate DOESN'T have asthma so she had more time to live ig(?) and try a solution before She died. I THINK the game wanted the player to think that but i don't know how asthma works honestly

for me it was obvious u had to help the one with asthma, but after watching some let's-play and reading some comments, I figured that it wasnt obvious at all for a lot of players
the people who dont know how an inhaler works had a disadvantage (because a lot of people thought it would give oxygen to Erin!) , the game should have explained it in the beginning of the game with a couple lines of dialogue
I think it’s because if someone died no matter who you chose then how would players be able to save them all? Unless the game gave you a choice before one of them went into the room
how she gonna slap jamie? like she has to make a decision, obviously shes going to choose the person shes closer to. maybe slap ur man for not making a decision at all
She didnt know Erin and Jamie were that close tho. All she knows is jame chose to kill her

@Gabriel Prescott personally if i was in that situation and someone I'm not friends with has to choose to save me or their friend, I will fully accept they're gonna choose their friend. I'll be upset but not angry and I'd certainly not slap the person. Cause her slapping Jamie is also a slap to the face (pun intended) to erin too cause then Erin's probably thinking "damn bitch so u didn't want me to live?"
@Gabriel Prescott I get being upset but was no need to slap her. Still, I get what ur saying with her coming around and the slap being an emotional response in the moment. And I do like Kates character a lot. She's my third favourite which isn't that high in a list of five but that's just cause I love Jamie and erin

I'd assume there's some kind of hint you can find before this scene to let you know about the leak, maybe some schematics or a note, anything that would point out a structural weakness, else this just seems like a "better hope you like Erin and hate Kate if you want everyone to survive"
although even if it were the case, most people would miss it, and some people have really bad common sense in thinking an asthmatic person has a better chance at surviving an asphyxiation room than a supposedly healthy person. Didn't help that people think inhalers are rebreathers and figured she could've used that to stall
It does point out a structural weakness when on Kate's window
I realize how inhalers work but unless I'm misremembering something, supermassive put out a trailer that has Erin survive this trap due to her having an inhaler. Which is the whole reason a lot of people thinks it works is because the trailer they use
i just watched the all trailers and there's not a scene like that and i think they won't spoil how you survive in the game on the trailers can you tell me which trailer did you saw that to
An inhaler doesn’t give you oxygen though so it wouldn’t make sense
@@doodun3619 Yes I realize that it doesn't give you oxygen but I'm saying I could've sworn there was a quick clip of Erin using the inhaler in a white lit room which is where some people are getting the idea that it would work

Erin’s death is kinda camp ngl, the music and her writing the message while all the other characters just don’t care other than a “oh no Erin 🙂”
fr Mark straight up just stands there and does nothing if Erin dies, meanwhile Kate is dying and he's then going ballistic n crazy trying to get her out haha
This feels like you have a 50/50 chance of guessing correctly.
That's the thing I don't like about this trap. All the others had clues as to how to survive.
Charlie could either go through a heavy door, which he already tried or open a grate. There's also a premonition.
In the wall trap, Jamie or Kate are shown to have the screwdriver by bashing it against the wall.
In this trap, sure Erin has asthma, but someone without asthma can die from suffocating too.
@@imapotato7812 these are easy clues. If they are going to continue season 2 they have to up the stakes. You have to become more observant (the leak in kates window, kate could her breath longer, etc)
A clue I haven't seen mentioned in any of these comments for this decision across multiple vids is that the fan in Kate's chamber was spinning faster compared to Erin's. This could have been a clue to show there was more air in Kate's chamber for whatever reason
The first time I played I through I choose Erin because I figured she had her Inhaler she could use 😅

Y’all obviously don’t know how inhalers work lol. It’s not oxygen. Inhalers administers the drug to open up your bronchial tubes when they’re constricted (asthma attack). - I’m asthmatic

There is a theory of a clue from the saw machine. It is very reaching tho. In the saw scene, the two dummy battles and the left side wins. It might tell us choose the left dummy

In her segment she hears a recording of Charlie saying he wants everyone dead.
That's probably what she thought and decided to write it down.

I've seen the argument that this game's choices feel more like 50/50 guesses rather than having clear logic behind them which hint towards the one that'll get the characters killed/saved. I understand why people think that and I do think there's a bit of luck involved, but also enough logic.
In this scene for example, I feel like the most obvious 'wrong' choice is to kill Erin. Her asthma literally slaps you across the face throughout the entire game and suddenly, you find her in an air related death trap. Since Kate is supposedly healthy, it's not far fetched to deduce she's more likely to survive even if you can't see the leak. At least my thought process was "Erin has asthma, therefore weakened lungs, Kate is healthy. If I choose to kill Kate, I'll probably have more time to figure out a different way to get her out, Erin won't last that long with reduced oxygen". If you chose to kill Erin because you thought the inhaler would save her, it's not the game's flaw, it's just that you don't know how inhalers work.
However, I understand why you'd think doing nothing is the right choice. It does say "KILL Erin/Kate" so you might think that if you don't choose to KILL anyone, you can get out with both alive. But Jamie does say "if we don't do something, both of them will die", which I think is the game hinting you that you should indeed pick. I personally thought it was unlikely I'd lose two at once, but because I really wanted Erin to live (she's my favorite), I chose Kate.
This makes sense in hindsight but the game also set up a conflict between Jamie and Kate. It felt like the game wanted Jamie and Kate to make up so they could work together later. So it felt completely contrary to that character development to then have Jamie choose to “kill Kate”.
@@janine7384 I see what you're saying and I've actually thought of that perspective too, but I find it unlikely for a simple reason: these traps are set up by a serial killer whose objective is to ultimately kill you. He does enjoy toying with his victims, and an already poor relationship between two of those people is a weakness to exploit. I guess you could say he could've planned to get Jamie and Kate to get along so that they'd be pained by each other's death, but I still think he wanted to further aggravate the mutual negative feelings between them because a group with a weaker bond is less likely to succeed in working together to survive. I mean, it makes more sense if you consider that he attempted to make Erin not trust Jamie with the texts and Charlie with the edited call.

I have never used the inhalator when she needed it so it was completely filled, i thought it could help her somehow 😢
I must ask because I’m curious now, could someone use an inhaler in that situation and get some extra air, or it doesn’t work like that at all? What would happen if you used it in a space with no oxygen like that room?
I think the pressure in the room was too high for surviving even with an inhaler. Would be my explanation even tho I chose Erin bc of the Same exact reason xD
I think it was mostly because of the lack of pressure in the room, due to the lack of oxygen the inhaler wouldn’t have helped. Also, Erin would have died sooner because her lungs are technically weaker than Kates
That's not how inhalers work
an inhaler makes ur bronchie bigger to makes the oxygen reach ur lungs faster, but it doesnt give oxygen by itself! Even if Erin used her inhaler in the trap, it still would have killed her, because having bigger bronchie in a room without oxygen doesnt help ahah
the players that didnt knew how an inhaler works had a big disadvantage that's unfortunate
the game should have made Erin explain how a inhaler works with one or two lines of dialogues (well written of course) at the begginning of the game, when she talks with Jamie for example

In a few moments, the two chambers will have their air removed, suffocating their occupants. In front of you is a regulator switch that can provide air to one of the chambers. Simply turn the switch away from the one you wish to save. The other one will be left to fend for herself.

I'm watching Jacksepticeye's playthrough and he got Erin killed first so the suffocation chamber wasn't a thing it skipped to (6:44) this part
What happens if you choose neither do they both die or does Kate still see the leak and manage to get rescued?
Marc then decides for you and saves Kate. Erin dies.
The way I saw it erin is used up her inhaler, so she is just gonna be a burden later and will die from being scared or something as she almost did the first half of the game, so it made more sense for me to save the person who is more useful kate and more likely to be able to fight as well if it came down to it. Am I wrong for that logic?

The logic is you can save everyone in the game. If there are two choices, One choice will kill one person, another gets both of them to survive, just like the rope scene in house of ashes.
