cool vid. definitely will do this for my mixed african cichlid tank instead of all the Hikari frozen foods.
Question: is there a particular reason you blur your face on your videos??

Thanks so much! As for blurring, just for privacy. 🙂

@@J.A.Arellano You said you have 1 on your 110 gal tank
can you show us how it looks with just 1 on that size tank ?
cause I just bought 2 for my 75 gal to keep it clear.

Unfortunately I don’t have any video/ pictures of it on the 110. Both of my filters ending up malfunctioning and I ended up just putting canister filters on the tanks. I really really liked them while they lasted though. They worked well and had a clean design to them. I remember wanting to buy another but the price jump put me off.

@@raisinggoldfishonabudget7058 I have two on a 40 gallon breeder tank just to be safe.
(Yes, I have plans to get a bigger tank for my adult male African sideneck. Don't worry. This is the tank I got with the turtle from a private seller for $50 for the turtle and the tank recently off of craigslist.)

I'm worried that if I clean my HOB filter like this that I'm killing majority of the beneficial bacteria. How's your tank after doing a full filter clean?

Not at all! If you use tank water to rinse out your media, you will be fine. This is how I clean my filters each time and I’ve never had issues. There’s also beneficial bacteria on your substrate and decor as well. I have read if you use tap water to clean your filter, you do risk killing off your beneficial bacteria. Just make sure you work fast when cleaning your media/ don’t let it dry out because that will be an issue for sure.

I add a sponge filter as a secondary to my hob's in my larger tanks. There is nothing wrong with the way she is cleaning except maybe she was a week or two late😉. Even if you rinsed everything in tap water, meaning chlorine free well water you would not remove all your beneficial bacteria. You would literally have to soak everything and scrub it to do that.
