Ever since my first Ken Onion Kershaw, I've been addicted to the Kershaw brand
Truly fantastic review. I think you found it difficult to decide because they fill different roles perhaps. The Kershaw is a "pretty, smooth action, take out on the town" knife and the Hogue is a "I'll be out in the shit for 3 weeks" knife.
My state only let's me have a 1 1/2 " blade. But I can conceal carry a handgun. Yeah that OTF is dangerous
You're mistaken if you don't think the Livewire can hold up to being out in the shit. There is another review out there showing it being abused pretty badly, and it holds up amazingly well - even when being pounded into a log.

Now the Livewire has Carbon Fiber scales with Magnacut. It doesn't have a competitor now in my opinion.
Nice compare. I haven't held the new Kershaw, but of the OTFs I've tried, I lean toward the Guardian Tactical Recon 035. Thanks!
Maybe the hogue Counterstrike would be a closer comp to Livewire?

*HEY GUYS* if anyone is wondering how Hogues customer service is; I just told them I broke a spring on my compound. They responded to my email within two hours and send a replacement pair of springs free of charge. No questions asked. Outstanding!!! I love the compound! I’ve been using it as my EDC as an HVAC tech for the past three years and it performs flawlessly. I’ve taken it apart twice to clean it. It has never failed and now I’ll have a spare set of springs. 😁
There's no denying that both of these are fantastic offerings at excellent prices. My friend has a Hogue Hadron and I have a Livewire. In comparison, we both agreed that both are fantastic.
I’d like to see what Kershaw does going forward with OTFs. It would be BA if they came out with a ZT next! Sinkevich design would be my choice for the first one!

Great review on both knives! And both are on my "must have" list! One thing you might point out on aluminum vs G10 handle comparisons, is that in 3 years of normal use, the aluminum handle is going to lose a lot of its finish, while a G10 handle is still going to look brand new.
I don’t think I want the action to sound like a cannon. I wonder if it’s because the action just isn’t as smooth as the live wire and that’s where the noise comes from. Both nice knives, and your video was good.
As an owner of both the Hogue wins. The compound just feels so secure in your hand and the action feels so snappy. The blade and slide has a lot less play in it too. Also I had to sharpen the kersaw when I got it, the compound came shave sharp.

I got the Hogue Exploit with the tritium Thumb slide, and mine is not glow rhino, which is a bummer since I have many of their products and wish mine had it too. I wonder if I can buy a trigger replacement with the Glow Rhino tritium?

I just recently got the blue magnacut livewire, and it's pretty nice for a first otf. Just glad that some people are lookin' out for the south paws.
Kershaw on back order ever place I go. Am waiting for mine from Blade HQ. I am a Kershaw fan so this was love at frist site lol.
My Livewire makes a squeaky sound on retracting. Any ideas on how to fix?
Add a little oil. U need light oil. I have a disassembly video as well if that helps.
@@LeftyEDC I'm a lefty as well. Watched your video which helped with the disassemble. Oiled it some with KPL but still didn't really fix the squeak on retract blade. I think I saw another review where someone had the same issue. I believe after listening to yours it sounds very similar. My microtech and guardian tactical sounds so clean tho!
If im getting into a Friday night Slurpee fight I'm most definitely taking the Hogue. Aluminum is just to slick in the hands, i activially avoid knives with aloy handles JIC. Now if im in a warehouse on the job yeah sure ill take a Kershaw.
Word is Hogue actually makes the Livewire for Kershaw. Would be interesting to see how similar the insides are.

You need to check out the Hogue Counterstrike brother. I know Daggers aren’t your thing but they are bringing out a drop point but I still think it’d blow you away.

My liv wire has no play up and down only barley side by side it must be one out of a million it's perfect and no rattle when it is in but there both still crap comperd to a G HAWKINS. Luckily this is just your opinion on those two.

@@CorruptionManX yeah, maybe for production pieces but not for custom. How much is a custom Mictotech Ti no blade play OTF going to run? Thousands 🤣 (just like the custom Ti Deadlocks). You are looking at Marfione Custom territory.
@@Adamas11 And what is the advantage of these custom models? I want to know about function, I think the ergonomics and ratio of Deadlocks are horrible. Somehow Microtech managed to make a zero play mechanism without changing very much the design of the otf that it manufactures. Make it clear that I don't have a deadlock, but I already had the opportunity to test one.
