I think the included allen wrench is to be used when you want to apply more torque by holding it with the short end of Allen wrench in one end of tool and selected bit in other
It's actually a really nice looking otf I think I like it better than any other production otf out there right now I don't think it could be beat for the price . This is good it makes the other companies up their game .
Seems like Kershaw's taking note of what's going on in the knife community and making headway back into the hearts and minds of people who've written them off in recent years. The Livewire and Launch 15 are pretty slick. Their DuraLock knives are quite nice, too. Sure they could've used something better than D2, but at least it ain't 8cr! Welcome back Kershaw! 😂🔪
I've been using otf knives for 2 decades and my usual carry was the ultratech. I bought this kershaw livewire because it has simular look and style. I love it. Kershaw killed it with this otf. I can't wait to see what style they come up with in the future.
I just got my hands on a livewire. Loving it, been in the market for an OTF for a while now and the last month just been browsing them all. Was close to getting a hogue compound 350$ or a heretic manticore x $360ish. I don't regret the livewire so far, absolutely love it. Especially being 100 dollars cheaper
Nice otf comparison, pretty sure they said Hogue is the one making this for Kershaw. Still waiting to get my first otf, might just have to try this one out
One thing that I notice right off the bat is that the front opening (where the blade shoots out) is like the cheap NATO military. It's not center and is very thin at the bottom side
Thanks. The reason I ask, is I bought an Ultratech for my left handed wife, and she can’t deploy it. I’m seriously considering getting this one for her.
@@voodoo7008 haha thats funny. My wife couldn’t deploy the Hogue or Heretic but could on this one. I will say if you’re looking for the perfect otf for a woman i think the Guardian Tactical 025 is best. Easiest to deploy ive tried and good size. That would be my recommendation
Thanks for another great review Kev! So does the Kershaw take over from the Hogue? I live down the street from Blade Ops so may need to check one out. How does the Axial Shift compare another Utah company? I remember your review about a year ago.
@@LeftyEDC thanks Kev I will definitely check it out then. Now if Ben would stop releasing awesome slip joints I might have some more funds. The javelina looks like another winner!
Fair price for a premium product when you compare it to microtech or heretic. I’ve had my eye on kershaw this and the launch 9 are my next 2 knives for sure.
@@daniikkavkaz guardian is way bigger. Even the 35 is bigger. Shootout is plastic. Out on that. Id say get this if you like the easy carry nice aesthetic and decent blade. Go GT if u want the top notch action and tactical vibe.
What is the blade play like on this one? I understand there will probably be at least a small amount on any OTF but reviewers hardly ever talk about it in their videos.🤷🏼 Thanks.
I live in Florida Kevin and come July 1st concealed carry no permit. I got my glock and now I'm got just ordered my otf course this one laugh out loud. I'm also gonna get a second one but the microtech glykon waiting for it nun available and no pre orders

I think it’s so damn cool that Kershaw is continuing to expand their line of auto knives, and keeping them reasonably priced, as they do so.
I think the included allen wrench is to be used when you want to apply more torque by holding it with the short end of Allen wrench in one end of tool and selected bit in other
Also don't forget Kershaw is the sister company of ZT.....
7:35 "Friday night gas station" got me.
It's actually a really nice looking otf I think I like it better than any other production otf out there right now I don't think it could be beat for the price . This is good it makes the other companies up their game .
I'm always glad to see the American made Kershaws. Great video 👍
This one is sick. It's weird, but I like the canted clip... the milling lines near the clip makes it work for me.
I've been using otf knives for 2 decades and my usual carry was the ultratech. I bought this kershaw livewire because it has simular look and style. I love it. Kershaw killed it with this otf. I can't wait to see what style they come up with in the future.
Agreed
@Nick B
Agreed. This OTF Kershaw🔪 is the begging of the end for Microtech
Great idea on the bit driver perfect for carrying on the go
Thanks Kev ✌🏻
I’d love to see kershaw make a smaller version of this! Like the mid size OTF
Super sweet bit driver set. The extra holes are for your earrings.
Well done kershaw, can't wait to see all the special editions they do with it, maybe I'll grab one then
I just got my hands on a livewire. Loving it, been in the market for an OTF for a while now and the last month just been browsing them all. Awesome
That’s pretty good especially for kershaw.
The striker bit is sold out on website. Any idea if it’ll come back or was it a one time thing?
Nope i know nothing. Just ordered and waited 15 months haha. Wasn’t expecting it ever to show up
Do you know when they will have these up for order?
The first batch already was.
Check Blue Creek Knives and Bladeops. Both links are in my description
If Blade Ops (only place that ships autos to cali) gets the Kershaw OTF in I'm buying one
Thats where i got it.
Not sure why there would be price outrage. It’s 20CV and made in US. ALSO, Kershaw Guy sells them for 210 which is where I got mine.
Theres a Kershaw Guy!
Im on his list for next batch
I can’t wait to get the launch 15 and this.
Nice otf comparison, pretty sure they said Hogue is the one making this for Kershaw. Still waiting to get my first otf, might just have to try this one out
I am diggin' the Live Wire.
Me too. Its awesome
One thing that I notice right off the bat is that the front opening (where the blade shoots out) is like the cheap NATO military. It's not center and is very thin at the bottom side
No otfs ever are symmetrical there except maybe the Deadlock which are $1500+
This OTF Kershaw🔪 is the begging of the end for Microtech
Is it easier to deploy than an Ultratech?
I would think so, but that’s not saying much the Ultratech, while a fantastic OTF, is quite stiff
Yes 1000%
Thanks. The reason I ask, is I bought an Ultratech for my left handed wife, and she can’t deploy it. I’m seriously considering getting this one for her.

We should be glad that they didn't take the same knife slap ZT on it and go $375
Kershaw claims the angle on clip is to fit all kinds of pants especially dress slacks
It works very well
I want one
For those that are complaining about the price can get a Chinese knock off!! I love this knife and am anxious to get one!
Should have address blade play. The more blade play the more wear and tear esp if you are a hard use user.
Kershaw much sleeker than the Hogue, and great steel to boot.
It would cut your boot

Microtech does roughly the same thing.
👍🏻

I just got my magic br 1 whiskers ots auto all American .I think protech makes better otf
Too bad it’s never in stock
Blade HQ has a pre order up
American made is highly doubtful. I know for a fact they are 100% importing the steel
They are importing 20Cv which is made in the US? That seems odd. How do you know for a fact?
I'm sorry but IME OTFs suck for EDC or working knife-- one little bit of pocket lint and you're holding a half deployed $400 knife and that does NOT look cool. Lol.
Bring back the original Benchmade Presidio 3500!! Lost one and had1 stolen and I can't find replacement.
Good point
I've used the Livewire several times outdoors and it has handled all the abuse just fine. This is a good working knife if you don't neglect basic maintenance.
Sounds like some jealousy being thrown towards Kershaw. Is it sad they can make a great otf for under 250 in America
