My dad had a heart attack and was sent home to mold on the couch for 6+ months. He watched ALL of the McCarthy hearings live. He would tell us what a hatchet job the MSM did to McCarthy each night saying having heard the actual proceedings you could not believe they were talking about the same event. Even some of the contemporary journalists commented at the time about the hatchet job being done on him. Their tactics havent changed in 75 years!
Think of what the media today are trying to do to Donald Trump. The only difference is, back in the 1950's, there was no Internet. The major networks had more of a monopoly on information than they do today. What would people think of Donald Trump today, if there was only CNN, MSNBC, and no Fox News, no Daily Wire, and no conservative podcasters?

I've been saying this since college, which was 25+ years ago. How often do you see a Hollywood type support a decent cause? Almost never, and when they do, they stop being in movies and television. You always see them supporting Communist things. Even back then, it was fairly obvious which side the media was on. The local paper never saw a Communist they didn't like or a Communist goal they didn't push. The same with mass media, but they were more overt back then. Education is the same way.

There is a book titled, "Blacklisted by History," by E. Stanton Evans. Since 1942, the FBI had kept files on known Soviet agents in the U.S. and also members of the Communist Party USA, which until WW2 was financed by The Garland Fund, of which the Congressional House Representative from Brooklyn, NY was on the Board of Directors. (After WW2, the USSR financed it directly). McCarthy knew this and that the State House was full of either Soviet agents or people who were sympathetic to the USSR and/or members of the Communist Party USA. The reasons McCarthy got nowhere, were twofold; First, the U.S. was at war against the communists in Korea (which included the Soviets and Chinese), and if the information on just how saturated our institutions were by communist activists, the national outrage would possibly make a full-out nuclear war inevitable. Secondly, and maybe more importantly, many of our top politicians, and national leaders had members of the CPUSA in their families. For example, FDR's son was a member, and Eisenhower's brother was a member. If McCarthy had been able to go on and expose the extent to which the U.S. was comprised already, at the very top of our leadership, the result might have been national chaos. So McCarthy became a joke and made to represent wild-eyed right-wing fanaticists. What resulted was that the process of subterfuge in the U.S. was allowed to go forward, although it was resisted. But it was not resisted enough and not in the right way. The GOP, for example, was fine with illegal immigration because of the cheap labor it provided, ignoring that the Democrats had been planning to make itself the single ruling party since Emanuel Celler, that Congressional Representative succeeded in getting his bill, The Immigration and Naturalization Reform Act of 1965 passed into law without a general vote. So here we are now, in 2024, and the communists are out in the open, wearing all sorts of masks and disguises, holding virtue as their cause, and near succeeding in destroying the U.S. as it was founded to be. Early 70s in NJ High School, a REQUIRED Class; “The Red Scare” where the teacher put forth the curriculum that Sen. Joseph McCarthy was a Horrible Man (which none of my classmates had EVER heard of) due to his persecution of Communists in Our Country.
As a mostly self taught transplant from MA, I argued that the school was shoveling propaganda crap about the situation and, that McCarthy was not only CORRECT, he had not been allowed to go far enough AND that for proof, was the idea of a REQUIRED Class called “the Red Scare”.
Communism has been infiltrating Our Schools, Our Society, Our Film Industry, Our Universities, since the early 60s.

Way back in 1958, a book was authored and subsequently published by a great black man, an unsung hero, the author of the book entitled "Color, Communism, and Common Sense". In it, he describes being lured into and recruited by the Communist Party of America (yes, there was such a Party) and sent to Russia to be trained and further indoctrinated. When he got back to the USA he realized how evil the Communist Party was and quit/broke away from it and he wrote this book, and "unexpectidly" died shortly after. To me he is a martyr to the cause of freedom and a hero, a good man. His name is Manning Johnson, and we all can make his work warning us about the evils of Communism Not done in vain, and instead making it a tribute to a courageous, God loving American Patriot. Like Senator McCarthy, he was ahead of his time and his message was ridiculed, snubbed and largely ignored by guess who, the Media.We can restore the honor this man deserves, by reading his book.
