Here’s how I made my anchor trolley system for my kayak. It’s simple yet effective. This was made for under 50 dollars. If you enjoyed the video don’t forget to subscribe!
I have lost of grappling anchor systems with zip tie releases . I switched to mushroom anchors over 5 years ago and have not snagged up since . I also use a quick release for line to my anchor trolleys. I have 2 trolleys , one on each side to help control in high winds . I have only had to use my quick releases once , but was glad I had them or a boat would have rammed me . i got moved and the boat went up in the rocks .
A few suggestions: 1- pulley wheels will protect your plastic loops and will make the line run smoother. Or use at least a metal loop. 2 - Use a piece of bungee to absorb the shocks on your anchor line. 3 - Use a heavy piece of scrap metal instead of your current anchor with the zip ties. It is cheaper and works the same way. Use a thick chain if you can find some
Great video! I'm curious to see how the trolley works out. First one I've seen that didn't use little pully wheels. I also bet you end up cutting that zip tie around your anchor. I've had days that my anchor doesn't hold, opened up. Worth trying though👍
On knots, I sometimes put a piece of heat shrink tubing over it. Great video! To the point and good to go. Do you use just one anchor? I was thinking of using two, one on each side. Looking to avoid kayak from spinning so much. If I had an anchor at front and one at back, I think it would be good
I just use one and am able to adjust the anchor position according to the wind. Sometimes it will spin a little but I didn’t really want to have another anchor to worry about. Although that would probably prevent spinning pretty well. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! I actually no longer use it because it makes the kayak unstable with how high I was sitting. I basically measured out some scrap wood to line up with the gaps that the seat lined up with and placed it underneath those seat bars
