Great idea! Bought one today. Whilst struggling with the knot, I noticed on the reel there was a 2nd hole. Pushed the paracord through that hole and fished it out with a mechanics pick/hook. Tied it in a simple knot, melted it to keep it tight and pushed it back inside the housing. Did the same thing to the clothesline but just cut it off. Boom! Works like a charm. The plastic housing is flexible enough to do this.
Self retracting clotheslines is a great unit for retrieving and storing line. HOWEVER, by using a trolley along with this, it allows you to anchor from either the bow or the stern, allowing you to fish upstream as well......that is way food travels to the fish on a stream, as well as insects with the wind in a lake or pond. Thanks
Good info, great camera. I was surprised that you did not melt the ends at cuts to avoid fraying, like at your double figure 8 knot AND anchor reel bungee.
good video. Not wanting to drill holes, I simply mounted the clothesline on a T-Trac, fed the anchor line through a pulley attached to the bow grab handle. Removeable. Not as versatile as a trolley, but suits my needs for the present.
I just run the line through the triangle ring. If you use a big enough ring you can run your stakeout pole through it too. I also use stainless steel locking d rings to attach the line to the Anchor I’m using. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I use mine with both my drag chain or anchor trolley. Mine comes out goes through a D- Ring and then through my trolley ring. Just make sure you have a cleat for the trolley to keep it from moving with the water direction.
You can, it would work. I tried to just didn’t hold up, lost my anchor. This is just better long term. But If you try it let me know how long it last for you. It’s been a while since I did mine can’t remember how long it lasted.
Very clever! We used to put an eyebolt in a coffee can and pour cement over it. No worries it gets lost.

Hi from Liverpool UK 🇬🇧 great idea 💡 thanks for posting 🎣 👌
That’s great. Wanna here something funny. I saw this message and I’m watching the football match between Liverpool and Tottenham

Simple and brilliant! Exactly what I was looking for
Good info, great camera.

Great idea. I will have to come back to this video when I get a kayak.
Did you get it yet
That’s a dam good way to stop in a good place to fish. Would come in handy. Thanks

Do you think it’s possible to open and change the line instead of the knot? Amazing video thanks
Anything is possible but personally this works very well and usually mine have busted loading and unloading. If you do let us know if it worked out.
What are you fishing for ? And are you on lakes or moving rivers?
Anchors are great with a quick release, but in current you can quickly get onto serious trouble.
Great video thank you
This is genius
I did this but how do you deal with safety?
What do you use to attach the line to the anchor trolley line? I saw the triangle ring in the other video you did.

@@greatamericansurvival never thought of running through the ring. Makes sense. Thanks
Wait... Where does the carabiner come in?
good idea

@@greatamericansurvival can’t thank you enough !
How many feet of line does it hold?
Around 50 feet, for most models like this. How deep are the lakes you fish?
@@greatamericansurvival mainly
Intercoastal Waterway. 30 feet at high tide. 50 will be plenty. That’s the reply I was looking for.
what is the diamater is the paracord
It’s 550 paracord so it’s 4mm or .16 hope that helps.
Great American Survival I’m making this from when I go to the rope swing near my house so I can keep my speaker from flouting away
Bad ass ty
Thanks it’s a great addition to any kayak.
What pound anchor can that hold?
I use a 6 lb downdrigger weight or go get a cheap kettle bell at goodwill
@@greatamericansurvival thank you
I use a 3# plastic coated dumbell from goodwill, they are used for walkers.
why not just use the cloths line already installed???? is that not possible????

Better buy a dive reel. This one will rust and fail after a few uses.
Mine broke loading it on top of my trailer. Added a anchor wizard. It’s been great.
Have had two of these for my boat. The spring inside failed completely after about ten uses. Junk. Won't buy it or again.
That sucks. They come in really handy but I’ve heard of others having issues. I recently added an Anchor Wizard and it works great..
Do not use these! they rust out around 2 months or so and you have to keep buying new ones.
So far mine has held up so far. But I also bought an Anchor Wizard it’s worked out really well so far.
Drill small drain holes ...lets it dry up
