It always amazes me how much more work wolf trapping in comparison to beaver or coyote or other small critters. The patience and dedication to it is amazing. I hope you get a big one or two…👍👍
The snow conditions are crappy with the thaws and then cold. I covered mine with a thin layer of crust like that too. Will shatter when they step on it. Thanks for sharing Brother! Good video.

Great job man, My father was an amazing trapper in Northern Ontario Canada. He taught me so much as a kid. Today l have hunting and fishing camp in Northern Ontario Canada. We are over run with wolves, so l take 10 bow and gun hunters a season to keep the wolves under control. We have 6 for 6 so far this year. We see wolves every day from our upstairs windows. Keep up the good work. Franklin Mullen.
@@lobopropredatorcontrol Yes l do, l am just south of Red Lake Ontario. I have black bear, moose, small game, fishing and wolf hunting. My young friend that contacted you is kinda adopted by my wife and I. I'm passing on my knowledge of trapping and hunting to him. He just gobbles it up and never gets enough. It is great to watch you beat the wolves at their own game. In one week here you would have a pickup truck full of wolves hahaha. We just laugh and say Lobo trapper would freak out up here lol. I got tired of having to reset my steel traps all the time because of new snow or freezing rain etc. So, now I almost exclusively use snares. This is a tough time of year to keep stuff working. As much as I hate snares, that's what more than half my sets are now. I prefer footholds, but I know a snare will most likely still be working after a couple days of freeze/thaw, I hate seeing prints on unfired traps

Question? Why would you place ice on your trap pan? Wouldn't it be better to use powder snow? Do those Wolves step down with enough force to go thru that ice chunk?
It's not ice it's the crust layer of the snow and it's very brittle, it will shatter when the trap goes of, the crystals in the snow have already setup in it and it doesn't get any harder, using soft snow can cause ice and then you are froze in
It always amazes me how much more work wolf trapping in comparison to beaver or coyote or other small critters. The patience and dedication to it is amazing. I hope you get a big one or two…👍👍
