I love how there's this subtle level of magical theory that one can occasionally come across that demonstrates just how the writers are exactly as nerdy as we are.
I read some about the writting process behind Dragon Age lore. Apparently the had this "swear guide" where expressions like "Goddamn it" were banned, because there was no christianity in Thedas so they wouldn't make sense. That's the level of detail they followed

And then "Like cracking a whip? Yes, tried it once; made my teeth taste funny." Wait, WAT?! WHY DID THAT MAKE YOUR TEETH TASTE FUNNY??? HOW LONG DID THAT LAST??? *DORIAN, YOU CAN'T STOP THERE!*
I think Viv has her own nerdy dialogue. Inquisitor however wasn't because, u know, amount of work the protagonist voice actors needed to do was already titanic and they had to put priorities.
My one complaint about the game is that there are (basically) only three classes. The specializations and subclass variations (two-handed/one-handed and shield and duel-wield daggers/bow) only help make things a bit more interesting.
Pretty easy if you've got to the specialization part, give them all barriers, make Vivienne's knight enchanter and Ice spells as her main abilities, focus Solas on spirit and rift mage abilities and Dorian on necromancer and fire/lightning abilities and then the inquisitor on whatever whatever and *boom* you got a solid mage team

I'm more like Varric, can't use this and don't really want to know about it 🤣
It feels like they're also lowkey competing in how much one another understands.

Sera made me laugh when i heard this conversation when i was playing.. "Two of you doesn't make it normal!"
When they're not arguing about Tevinter they sound like such nerdy buds. :)

I wish there was more of it.

I would've loved to hear mage Inquisitor dialogue. Especially if it was specialization specific.

This is why I love magic. I can't imagine any other class being quite as interesting. "Have you tried sharpening your axe?" "I.. Yes." "Oh, good."
as a HEMA and eastern martial arts nerd I assure you discussions about various techniques can get extremely involved, nerdy and... spirited

I could understand that. Unfortunately the banter for melee in this delves no deeper than yay I hit it
Just don't talk about polishing your blade.. someone might get the wrong idea :D
I remember something like that between Alistair and Oghren back in the day.

Kinda sad that I'll never see some of the dialogue because as a mage, why would I walk around with another 2 mages?
