Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker - Final Trailer Music [HQ Trailer Edit | Blakus - Bladelight]

- This is the full, original music (no cover / recreation) from the final trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. Once again I'm fairly confident you won't find a cleaner version of this on TH-cam right now.
As usual I took the track directly from the trailer and did my best to remove leftover vocals, sound effects and so on, in addition to the usual volume balancing. As suspected, the reverb-heavy voice-over and some sound effects were pretty hard to get rid of (the Emperor especially), and while some parts still don't sound ideal, I don't think there's much more to get out of the trailer mix I had.
Part of the music is a custom rearrangement of Star Wars themes by John Williams by David James Rosen for Totem (from the sound of it, probably the first track), the part form 1:23 onwards is the custom piece "Bladelight" by Blakus (aka Blake Robinson) for Cavalry Music, also a reinterpretation of Williams' themes. The Hit House also confirmed they contributed to the audio, however it is unclear which part (might be some part of the music, might just be Sound Design). While the combined piece isn't and most likely will never be officially released, Blakus has released the original audio of "Bladelight" as part of his 2019 Showreel: • Showreel: Star Wars Cu...
For the rest, there is very little chance of it getting an official release, so this is as close as it gets. I do however encourage you to check out and support the original artists who contributed to this piece:

1:41 is the best part about this entire song.
It’s like, no matter what anyone else thinks about this movie or the sequel trilogy as a whole, this one part of this trailer encapsulates how I feel about Star Wars in general. Just loud, bombastic love.

I know… as soon as I saw this trailer this part stuck out as being one of the best renditions of the Star Wars theme I’ve ever heard.

This music stirs up so much emotion in me. The beautiful melody created from the original music with new chords and arrangement gives me goosebumps, watery eyes, and a lump in my throat. I've had to listen to this on repeat for the last 30 minutes. So beautiful. Some might say very melodic music like this is pandering to one's emotions... I say pander away! Pander all you want and pander more!
I'm not a fan of the new Disney Star Wars, but I'll confess this song and its new arrangement is what got me in the theater with the hopes of a great film.
...and when the crescendo of the music rises at the scene of C-3PO saying goodbye, chewbacca howling, Princess Leia in an embrace, Luke's voice, and Lando flying the Falcon I completely lose it. Every emotion, good and bad, envelops me all at once...........

It's been tradition to see each star wars film with my mother, and this was our last before I headed off to college to pursue my lifelong dream in film directing (a dream that was indeed sparked by star wars). While others may not agree, I myself am very pleased with the movie. I cried through the credits because it was over, and that right there marked the end of this long first part of my life.
So, in the best ways, Star Wars changed my life.
Hey we both have similar stories, Star Wars and DC inspired me to want to direct movies too. I went to see every Star Wars movie since Revenge of the Sith with my dad at the theatres.

Honestly, from 1:24 onwards, I have a feeling of pride, thanking all of the people at both Disney and Lucasfilm for contributing to these films, no matter the quality. I also thank our bois: George Lucas, Irvin Kershner, Richard Marquand, J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson.

The rearrangement of John Williams' main theme is by Blake Robinson, not by David James Rosen
Well DJR and Totem confirmed they contributed "Arrangements of themes by John Williams", but I didn't know Blakus contributed a part as well. As Blakus himself pointed out, he's not solely responsible for the music, he just did the part from 1:23 onwards, which leads to the assumption that Totem did the first half of the score. Thanks for the info, it also lead me to the title for Blake's piece! The Hit House also confirmed they were part of the trailer, but that might just have been Sound Design. I updated the title and description.

And a question: when working to filter out dialogue, at the point when Palpatine says 'and now, you're coming together' & we see the team in the cockpit & Rey looks over at Chewy, at 1m5s what is that odd sound ... a laugh, a giggle (whatever it is, I wonder why they put it there)? Thoughts?
@@skyloren8078 Have a look at the description, the track is not officially released so there is no link. Extractions like this are as close at is gets to a full track release. As for the sound you mentioned, it's just the sound of a machine (in the context of the shot, the Falcon) powering up. Most likely just put in there to enrich the soundscape and complement the swelling music in that very second.
I think, that the moment at 1:41 is the only good thing that came out of the sequel trilogy.
1:12 from here to the end makes u feel things, about the greatest story in all time. The saga ends, The story lives forever.

@@ThatDudeRightThere Yeah, it was really hard used your version in few places, I have 5.1 version myself so used it for other stuff but yours helped in dialogue parts where Palpatine speaks, I'm doing Star Wars The Force Awakens in style of The Rise of Skywalker.

Is this piece in the movie score?
No. Trailer music is almost always completely separate of a movie's score. This music consists of at least two separate pieces done by separate artists (see the description) who usually produce trailer music. John Williams did not contribute to these tracks directly, they are just different takes on his original Star Wars themes.

One of the best star wars themes never used in the movie... what a shame. Though like everything disney touche they f it up.
Music like this is created specifically for trailers, it pretty much never ends up in the film, that's just not what they are made for. It's sought out or commissioned by the marketing department or trailer house creating the trailer, while the film's composer works on the score as a completely separate process. Rarely the two overlap, but then it's usually the other way around - the score composer also delivers a piece for the trailer, it's not the film using external trailer music.
Great theme. terrible, terrible film. But damn that theme gives me hope...
