    great video! just wanna add that we use a needle on the end of a grease gun to grease the center pin holding the blades.

      Great idea! Last year, or the year before, I actually removed the pin and greased it. It all stayed together!

    Thanks for your video....ran into trouble yesterday. Plow would not move...thinking I had water in lines and after thawing plow inside, changing fluid and following your refill instructions I'm back in business!! Go Pack Go

      Awesome. Thanks for watching! I actually haven't changed the fluid yet this year and I've used the plow a couple.times. I really should change it.

    Those VA craftsman wrenches are worth a good penny. I was lucky enough to buy a set off tools from Sears when they made those not knowing they were sought after 20 years later.

      @@OutdoorsEngineer yep. I’m changing mine now but it would’ve been very helpful to be walked through it like the fluid change. I think they call it a suction side filter... I’ve had the dealer service it in the past but I’m trying it myself to cut some cost.

      @@OutdoorsEngineer yep it’s there inside the hydraulic reservoir or at least mine is. It’s a mvp plus 9’6”. I have to admit I haven’t done very well with getting the yearly fluid changes done so I guess I tell myself changing the filter too makes up for it! 😂 got mine in 2012 and it’s still going strong so I guess I haven’t hurt it too bad yet. I couldn’t find a single video showing how to do it on TH-cam so I’m fumbling through it.

    Question: after you raised the plow up and down to top off the oil for the last time, is there a reason you didn’t manually lower the boom at the top of the chains? I’m trying to figure out how the plow is supposed to be while checking the fluid.

    • @OutdoorsEngineer
      @OutdoorsEngineer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think all cylinders should be retracted before checking. That means most of the fluid is in the motor/reservoir instead of the cylinders.

    • @mathemeatloaf1000
      @mathemeatloaf1000 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OutdoorsEngineer I appreciate you taking the time to respond!
      Just to clarify, cuz I know some models are different but for this one the fluid level should be at the fill plug while everything is retracted, right? This would include manually lowering the boom while in float mode.

    I never comment so Thanks bro. Liked ur vid. Super helpful. Only thing is. U called it oil it's hydraulic fluid. Also get the metal Dolly's they hold up better. Last thing, show the bolts and plugs close up

      Thanks for the feedback! 2 years ago I was pretty new to this YT thing. The wood dolly's have held up pretty well, just need to protect them with some 2x4's on top in some spots. Have a great winter!

    Excellent video .. glad I tuned in. Question: What was that strap and that board you removed from top of your plow at the very beginning of this video .. and why was it there?

    • @OutdoorsEngineer
      @OutdoorsEngineer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I have 3 furniture dollys that support the plow in the offseason so I can roll it around the shop. Two small dolly's under the plow and one under the frame. Where the frame sits, the frame assembly becomes unstable and tippy. I put the board between the frame by the lights and the plow and then use the strap to pinch the board in there to give the whole assembly some stability.

    My passenger side wing is slower than the driver side when I full scoop? Any idea as to why?

    • @OutdoorsEngineer
      @OutdoorsEngineer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't. I would say that one side is slower than the other on mine as well. Must be a function of the hydraulic fluid/engineering. I wouldn't think anything of it.

    • @bigsterms
      @bigsterms 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OutdoorsEngineer ok. I called the dealer and they said the same. It could even be a longer hose than the other side or anything longer travel wise for the fluid than the other side. I still have to grease my rams so maybe that will help.

    • @grantpopen774
      @grantpopen774 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ive always encountered that same problem and have found that its just the nature of the plow after some use. normal wear. dealer said the same thing

    If both wings are retracted, wouldn’t all /most of the fluid be pushed into the reservoir already ? How much trickles out via gravity ?
    Also, when you raised and lowered the mast , you broke the O/C 3 rule. You raised and lowered it Four X’s.
