- NATO is holding a summit in Washington, DC, to mark its 75th anniversary. The celebrations come at a time of uncertainty over the United States presidential election in November and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Members are under pressure to raise military spending to 2 percent of their gross domestic products. US presidential contender Donald Trump has long demanded that members step up their contributions. Is higher defence spending necessary at a time of economic uncertainty?

What a waste of money when peace is so easy to achieve if the West only kept their word
Which ruse do you espouse for disregard for the Budapest memorandum by the envious aggressor?
The west are hypocrites and genocidal to the human race
Kept their word about what?
The west (and Russia) both promised to protect Ukrainian sovereignty in the Budapest memorandum
Keep their word about what? It's a well known fact about human behavior that to have peace one has to prepare for war. NATO spending is about preserving peace not creating more war.
@@IusedtohaveausernameIliked you need a pair of Glasses cause it doesn’t look like that 😂
The more you increase your military equipment, the others are doing the same. So, what's the point?
3000 years of humanity
Money.
NATO's relevance is often debated. But its clear that the alliance's members have diverse interests, which conflict far more often these day. It is clear he organization's continued existence is not solely for preventing the annexation of Eastern European countries bordering the Russian Federation, but a political cover by politicians in the United States, United Kingdom, and France carry out war crimes abroad while being above the law in their own countries.
Spot on
Double standards and hypocrisy
Stop instigating wars for colonists' greed.
Canada's NATO relationship is always a one way street. Canada does not benefit greatly militarily or economically from NATO membership. Just look at free trade with the EU block. Only the Danes could support naval operations in Canada's arctic if it became necessary during a crisis. Only the US is considered a reliable ally when it comes to defending Canadian affairs. The UK and France showed its EU stripes during the turbot war of the early 90s. Sure we should spend 2% but it should be 2% spent defending Canada first. New Navy warships capable of BMD over all 3 of Canada's oceans. New long range F15 interceptors rather than short range F35 attack aircraft. Long range ISR drones for arctic vigilance. New over the horizon arctic radar sites to replace 80's systems and AEW and ASW patrol craft. A new sub fleet as an offensive deterrent. When it comes to the army Canada should focus on its superior SOF capabilities and US integration rather than a mobile mechanized infantry. We couldn't get them into a European fight in time anyways
NATO isn't really boosting spending, it is more like they are just catching up with previous commitments. NATO isn't about to attack anyone, they are spending on weapons in order to keep the peace. It's a well known but perhaps sad fact about human behavior that in order to have peace one has to prepare for war.
What pressure is China putting on Europe from a defense point of view? China wants trade with Europe, not war.
Hello 🖐️ Adrian sir
Well, now Africa can feel Russia is colonizing their continent with the help of dictators.

The EU strikes:
Sweden, along with several other EU member states, will not send their ministers while Hungary holds the presidency.
Sweden's protest was joined by Finland, Poland and the Baltic states - Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
Hungary says: "peace mission".
Orbán's visit to Russia outraged some EU leaders. The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, called this trip a political mistake.
🙃 "He who does not make mistakes does not live"
"Hungary's actions during the Presidency of the Council of the EU are harmful and must have consequences," said Swedish Minister for European Affairs Jessika Roswall. For this reason, Sweden and other countries decided to bet on war.
Orbán is the only prime minister among the heads of state and government of EU countries who, even after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in the spring of 2022, is friends with Putin. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó prefers to go on vacation to Russia.
