    Kewl build
    In the early 90's, I built a stock valve 35.5x32 Tom Kirker ported dual port heads with Gene Berg 42 DCNF and Gene's 42 DCNF Specials using phonelic .75" (19mm) thick spacers mounted under the carbs, 90.5 Cimas dished by Mark Voegtly, Engle K8 on 102°LC, early SCAT 1.4 rockers, regroup German lifters, 1.5" Berg heaterbox merged header with a single hi-flow muffler, Bosch 009 with Blue coil, German non-cross drilled welded 78 crankshaft.
    Static compression ratio was 7.03:1
    At Carlsbad Raceway installed in my 1970 bug weighing in at 2040 pounds with driver, a stock ratio gearbox and SR165 radials, it ran consist 14.60's at over 90mph, with a best of 14.62 @ 91.86.
    Calculated HP considering MPH was 138.6 HP on rotten Kommiefornia pump gas.

    Thanks for sharing the details. It’s helpful to compare with similar small builds. My 1641 has stock crank / cam with 1.4:1 forged rockers (0.413 lift) & self ported heads (30/45/60 seats) .That peaks at 4k rpm but gets 83bhp. That’s with 32mm Honda CBR throttle bodies & injectors on nylon manifolds (3D printed) and $100 “speeduino” ECU.

      Yeah it’s something similar I have done similar builds on 1967cc engines and I wanted more cam and a bit of port work I nailed 116 on a similar combo with no head worn 74 x92

    I had a 1641 with a VZ15 cam, 10 to 1 and 40 dells, made around 120hp and went 14.79 at the track.

    That’s awesome you were right 121 without the belt , that glass pack is definitely old school. I had one on my 67 bug back in the day. It was either Thunderbird or s&s

  • @ocavant
    @ocavant 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Why no O2 and a logger? Much more accurate than looking at plugs 🤷‍♂️ Are you doing spot head temp readings?

    • @volkstroke
      @volkstroke  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The dyno that has that is far away and cost more besides we can read plugs good been racing for years and no head temp readings all I ever monitor is oil pressure and sometimes oil temp we would check head temps when we were putting these combos in busses years back and dove them 8 hours on the freeway so now days we know what we need to do.

    • @JamesStamm-y6e
      @JamesStamm-y6e 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@volkstrokeoil temp is probably more important than head temps! I always used oil temp sensors👍🏻great build i did a1641 with a single weber 32 back in the day! Drove it cross country twice cruise 80mgh average 👍🏻

    Basically Stock😂, went from 1200cc to 1641cc and dual carbs and headers. Cases don't need modification and compared to the engines you build, Yeah, it's stock 😂, just 3X the regular HP. With 4.30 rear it makes for a nice daily driver 👍🏻

      @benkrom2737 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@volkstroke So it was already a 12volt transaxle and dual port engine. 4.12 rear does great with the 1600 dual port engine. 1st time I rebuilt a 1300cc and turned it into a 1641cc and 12 volt with 4.12 rear I got better gas mileage than the stock engine. Drove it to work for years going 100miles a day. Had an actual filter and separate oil cooler. Was bulletproof, cruised at 70-75 without any effort. I went through 3 fuel pumps and well over 100k when I sold it. Pretty oil tight too. I used gasket sealer on cases with dental floss down the center. Was tight as a drum.
