Just got done with a session on my next tattoo. One more to go. Geisha with a snake. A Sneisha as my artist put it. Mike Dorsey was at the shop and gave him a compliment. I could tell it made my artists’ day. So stoked.
For 6 out of 7 of my tattoos, I was told to wash w/antibacterial soap (Dial Gold), pat dry with a paper towel and use a teensy bit of Aquaphor- it should be a thin layer and completely rubbed in (no white streaks or anything). It was very clear that you shouldn't use that much of one product, much less 3. Sheesh that dude-- was it some sort of joke about keeping tattoos moisturized because your skin is dry/flaky? Or just irresponsible?
Same; dial gold, paper towels & aquaphor has never failed me. I wonder if he was talking about it being fully healed and trying to keep the skin smooth/moist? Because even the aquaphor (like you said) I’ve always been told to use sparingly
I've been healing tattoos for 30 years with multiple daily washes, blot dry with a clean towel, 3-4 days of a light coat of A&D ointment then switch to a quality moisturizer like Lubriderm. Had one bad scab pull some ink but it was 10-15 degrees (f) out and the only way to wash my freaking bicep was a well with a pump handle and the water was barely above freezing. Other than that everything has healed nicely.
Yep Dial Gold and Aquaphor for me too. I feel like people think there is some grand secret to healing a tattoo, but it really isn't that hard. Just keep it clean and use something to keep it moisturized, but like you said it should be a super thin layer. I've used Lubriderm in the past, but had better luck healing with Aquaphor.
@@krizzlyadams1208 my statement included 3-4 initial days of A&D ointment to promote. Here's the thing. Skin care lotions like Lubriderm DO help with the over all healing of the tattoo. Moisturized skin won't form heavy scabs which can (I know, it happened to me) get thick and deep enough to rip out ink. Lighter, thinner, moister scabs come off easier when washed. So, yeah, there's that. Been healing them 30 years.
I live in Arizona so the extremely dry air (along with hard water) sucks every bit of moisture out of my skin. When healing my tattoos I'll use unscented Lubriderm (Normal to Dry Sensitive skin formula) first and allow that to soak in (usually only takes a minute or so). Then do a thin layer of Aquaphor. After 3 days I stop using Aquaphor and just use the Lubriderm as needed. But a 3-step after care just seems overkill.
The home face tattoo 15:00 has the letter ‘Om’ on her left side. This is a religious symbol in the Hindu religion. I just want to let it be know as I have seen it being used as an ‘aesthetic’ many times when it holds great importance to us. It’s like how it sucks to get indigenous tattoos when you’re not indigenous.
Aquaphor is one of the best American products you can use on a tattoo that isn't specialty. Many specialty products are very expensive here and cannot be found in any store, so it's the go-to. I wouldn't use Lubriderm on a fresh tattoo at all, as it's usually scented and stings!
Lubriderm is just lotion and I have an unscented one- I assume it would be fine on a tattoo but that guy for sure was putting Waaay too much stuff on hos tattoo.
Lubriderm is a highly recommended unscented lotion in the US that has very mild ingredients and is good for anyone with sensitivities (my tattoo artist actually recommended me this as an option). Its also nasty to see how much lotion that dude is slathering on, like yea you don't want to let your tattoo dry to the point of getting tight or cracking, but adding that much product can hurt the skin. (I recommend adding enough to cover the tattoo and after applying it should be able to absorb in a couple of seconds naturally and not have leftover lotion sitting on the surface.)
i’ve only gotten a couple flash tattoos and once i got really lucky, a guy who fills his books up to a month ahead had a no show so i got a super nicely done flash frog xD

I got into a car accident right on the day of my tattoo appointment...which also happened to be my birthday. I emailed my tattoo artist and called and left a message. Aquaphor is a common tattoo aftercare protect recommended by tattoo artists in the US, BUT they always say a light layer. I typically use that for the first few days then switch to a regular lotion.

Hi!! I have a question regarding tattoo artists. I’m currently working on a half sleeve and I love the shop and artist I’m going to, they’re great! I show up 10-15 minutes early every time just because I don’t like being late but my tattoo artist is ALWAYS late. They told me to come in at 5 and didn’t see me until 6:30 and it’s too far of a shop to come back when they’re ready for me. How would you address the situation? I haven’t brought it up but it is getting a bit annoying that I’m going for my third session and possibly have to wait another hour and a half past my scheduled time. I’m also not confrontational so coming after them isn’t really in my comfort zone
In my favorite tattoo/piercing studio so many people let the piercers down and its come to the point where they have lots of reminders and confirmations beforehand and if you just don't show for 2 times (without legit reason like an accident or something) you are banned.
I have a super basic 'white girl' tattoo, infinity heart sign on wrist. it is also upside down but I still love it cause it brings me back to when I was 18 and it has a special meaning to me
* Video with terrible tattoo infection * Also * Video of someone putting three different lotions as a tattoo aftercare * No one: Lauren: That's the worst tattoo tiktok I have even seen!!! 😂 Love your content 😸😸
I saw one earlier and the poor girl had tattooed her own face when she wasn’t in her right mind and gone incredibly deep so they looked awful, I felt so bad for her, it’s shocking how easy it is for anyone to get a machine, I cringe more with how young some of these kids are, I have been there myself, the underage tattoo from your friends friend in a kitchen, I have one and it’s not good but luckily it’s not on my face! I’m getting a cover up in a few days of another underage mess that I thought at the time was a good idea 🤦🏻♀️
I recently discovered your channel and I've learned so much about tattoos. I'm 18 and I currently have a list of 20 tattoos that I plan on doing. I designed them all out of my own head and almost all have a meaning to me 🙂 Since idk what my life will be in the future I'm waiting to get them (as I was advised) but one day I hope I will have em. Being covered in tatts like you is such a dream
From someone older… I can tell you will be a success in life! If I went with the ideas I had at your age, I’d now be nothing but coverups or lasering them off… It’s better to wait, you may change your mind or placement or even amend the designs! And remember research your artist, and save up for talent! Best to you!
I feel you about waiting. When I was 18/19, I was dying to have gaming sleeves. One side heros and the other arm villains and each would fade into wires, the left wire leading to a game console on one shoulder blade and a controller on the other side. Now at 24, I've completely revised what I want and I want a dogwood on one sleeve and crepe myrtle on the other. It's always best to wait!
Same here, I have a list of at least 20 planned tattoos. But I'm also trying to be critical about these ideas so that I can really figure out what they mean to me. As of right now, I'm 19 and I have 2 small tattoos and I'm hoping to get 2 more this year. I've also come to a point where I think that the meaning of my tattoos now might not be as important to me when I get older, but they then tell my life story
@@international_chrysis Same for me. I plan on doing as soon as possible the small ones that are hidden and represent my life history, then when I'm older I'll think about the others on the list
what the HELL was three product dude doing?! AQUAPHOR IS FOR BEFORE YOU START PEELING!!!! Most of us here in the US who don't use an ointment from a tattoo shop for healing use Aquaphor or A&D in the beginning. The lubriderm on its own a few times a day when peeling starts is all good. WHY ARE WE COMBINING STAGES THOUGH?????
The one on the hand with the blisters was actually because she had a wart that was tattooed over and they spread.. so she got laser to remove the warts. I watched a video she made about it.
I’m tattooed all over but I recently had a friend tattoo me in another friend’s house without a stencil :( he’s a great artist and has done some great work but I WISH I’d found your channel before this happened because of how often you talk about the importance of going to a professional in a sterile environment and using a stencil. The tattoo is cute but it definitely does not look like what I asked for. My fault but anyway. Thankfully I have enough tattoos that it’s not really noticeable but anyway… CHECK YOUR STENCILS!
Haha literally when a potential client comes in bragging about their homie that does freestyle tattoos..”like without a stencil or a marker”….. like why you here den?..where’s all your sick tats bruh?…oh they all a little jenkie cuz the skin has to be stretched while you tattoo? Making straight lines look curved you say? Straight bananas 😂
Hey! i got my first tattoo yesterday (January 10th) and yes i took off the second skin in the shower. Completely painless! Can't believe those people who Just rip it off!
My go to method for healing all my tattoos is when I get home I'll wash it off in the shower with the water running at slightly colder than room temp. Then I'll gently pat it dry with a towel (I didn't know about the paper towel thing) and apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor over the tattoo and loosely rewrap it in fresh cling wrap making sure to completely cover the tattoo before I go to bed. I also wear rubber gloves during this step. It's probably overkill, but it makes me feel more comfortable. When I wake up I'll immediately wash off any blood and ink that inevitably came out of the tattoo. I'll reapply a thin amount of Aquaphor over the tattoo again. I do this for about 3-4 days and then I switch to lotion and I stop wrapping it. My artist says they heal great so I've been pretty luck so far, but I haven't gotten a tattoo in any awkward spots yet.
I'm pretty sure the first person who said they didn't like blackout tattoos was an EMT, and I can see why they might not like it because it probably makes it hard for them to find a vein if they're going to put in an IV? I'm just guessing, but I think that's why they filmed it in their emt uniform.
Aquaphor is so thick on it’s own you only need like a tiny amount of it. But those other two with aquaphor is wild. Like why would anyone do that. Aquaphor has like the original texture of Vaseline even when spread on the skin. Amazing for fresh wounds and keeping them moisturized but only in small amounts.
Also kinda sad that mom had to work while so pregnant. If she LOVES it, that’s one thing, but if that’s in America I feel like she’s there because… she has to be 😞
ooooo the one that started around 12:28 is an artist near me, i just put in a proposal when her books opened & i’m waiting to hear if she’s going to take on my tattoo idea🤞🏻 thank you for another good one!!💗
I recently had a nightmare where I was getting a tattoo and while they were doing the outline I looked and it was basically that horrible tattoo with the flowers and butterflies on 14:08. How bizarre (:
That head in the clouds tat video made me go through all 5 stages of grief because I was worried then disgusted then unimpressed then confused then amazed ... lordy! 🙃
I have used a THIN layer of Aquaphor over a thin layer of Lubriderm on my skin before (including tattooed areas, but healed ones) - right before bed during a very dry winter it can help keep skin from being itchy and ashy. But in general, my stages of healing personally are: 1 week Saniderm >> Aquaphor for a few more days >> unscented Lubriderm for a while after that >> moisturizing daily forever.
I got hustle butter for my latest tattoo. The one before, the studio gave me delay vegan formula but it felt grainy and abrasive so I didn’t use it. Couldn’t get back to the studio to replace so I used Palmer’s cocoa butter formula instead
5:44 I've heard a lot about this style For the most part it's actually supposed to look "shitty" like whenever you get bored in math in middle school so you take a marker and doodle on yourself except its like *permanent* A friend of mine actually wanted it done professionally (they've sadly passed away at 13, 2 years ago, so they weren't ever able to but their memory will forever live on in my heart and I'll be getting a memorial tat for them when I'm able to) but it definitely does look home-done and a bit messy as well I feel like the style could've been done a lot better
Just discovered your channel, got quite a few tattoos but not for a while. Now totally obsessed with what I can get next ! Plus your videos are very relaxing 🤠
I love blackout tattoos. Something about it just looks so clean and perfect. I would get it done, but there are no artists in my area that specializes in complete blackout
16:40 is this satire?! I used Lubriderm with one of my first tattoos and it BURNED- I was SCREAMING!!! I mistook it for Curel, which I use now. It literally pulled ink out, and made the whole area bright red. DO NOT USE THAT for the love of god!!!
I just got my shoulder cap line-work done. Have never used it before, but this artist said to use Lubriderm, Fragrance free. Was told to only put the tiniest amount on, not to saturate. Healed beautifully. Can’t wait for the color!

Here’s the thing, lotion doesn’t help your tattoo heal…crazy I know; it only serves to make you less itchy when it becomes unbearable.
Your videos are always such a joy to watch!!! Thanks for inspiring me to not worry about what others think and get the tattoos I want 💙
💖💖💖
Nah fam u deserved a good break over the holidays. Happy 2022. I'm manifesting a good one for all of us!🔥💖
Thank you 💖
I live in Arizona so the extremely dry air (along with hard water) sucks every bit of moisture out of my skin.
Just got my first calf tattoo almost two weeks ago. Happy to see new content. Hope you had a nice break Lauren.
I just found your channel and as a person with no tattoos I've been binging your content
Yes, my artist recommends putting it on for the first two days. Than until it’s peeled use non scented lotion.
That's the unscented Lubriderm; I've had two separate artists recommend it after the first few days of Aquafor.
Lubriderm is just lotion and I have an unscented one- I assume it would be fine on a tattoo but that guy for sure was putting Waaay too much stuff on hos tattoo.
I exclusively use unscented Lubriderm on my tattoos, but I have super sensitive skin and that's some of the only lotion my skin doesn't react to lol
Making me laugh so hard with your ‘double chin’ !! 😂😂My sissy and I are always sending very flattering double chin photos to each other. Was a joy to see your face. Happy holidays and New Year! 💜
Can’t go wrong with some double chin action 😂
@@treacletatts you know what they say…”beauty is in the chins of the beholder” lucky for me, sometimes I got 3.
Eucerin Aquaphor is what I use while my tattoos are healing, it's really amazing stuff.
Omg ur a Capricorn too, thats why I'm vibing with your vids so much it explains everything!
I got my humming-bird tattoo yesterday and I am soooo happy with it! Also mid session by brother came in and asked me if I would like a tattoo from him. So we designed a tattoo together. It is a wolf sitting on a moon with flowers around it. I love it soooooo much! It is placed on my ribs and took about 3 hours🙃 so I was dying at one point 😂😂 but I think it's so beautiful and I am so happy with it🥰
(I'm gonna send u a pic of it on insta. So u can also see the cute little chubby wolf🥰)
Edit: the cutest thing is that he said he is really enjoying doing the tattoo.
Not because I was in a lot of pain, he said because it is the person which he is tattooing right know 🥰🥰🥰
"I'm a Capricorn. We don't have feelings" I feel SEEN!
I‘ve binge watched your tiktok reaction videos during the last couple of days and now I keep hearing „oh this is gnaaaarly“ in my head 😂 It pops up in the most random situations. I even said it out loud at work today… and I‘m german…. 😂
HAHAHAH girl ich aber auch, ich liebe ihre reactions so lg aus düsseldorf😂✌🏼
I haven’t jumped this fast into a YT video as I just did. I looove this series 💖 Found your channel a few days ago and I have binge-watched your content ever since ✨ Keep up the great work! (Btw your tattoos *chef kiss*)
I got into a car accident right on the day of my tattoo appointment...which also happened to be my birthday. I emailed my tattoo artist and called and left a message. Here I was the one that no longer had a car and had a headache to deal with but I felt bad for missing my appointment so I can't understand when people just don't show up on purpose
Imagine getting tatted and your artist having to leave because their water broke, what an experience that would be
“ My chest hurts, I don’t like feelings. Capricorns don’t have feelings.” Whilst my Ex was a Capricorn ♑️ and definitely didn’t do well with feelings. You, luv, are one of the sweetest, most empathetic TH-camrs on the platform. No matter what your topic or review, you never fail to make me come away from the video smiling (even when there are poorly done tattoos).
Aquaphor is a common tattoo aftercare protect recommended by tattoo artists in the US, BUT they always say a light layer. I typically use that for the first few days then switch to a regular lotion.
19:05 that was me with my last tat 🤣. Adam was like "It's gotta look cool." He right. I was trying to convince him to skimp on some of it cuz it was hurting lmao. Glad he talked me out of it.
Always take the time you need! Everyone deserves a holiday break ☺️ (but also I’m glad you’re back)
@ 4:00 That's a hydrocolloid bandage. It works much like a second skin, but it absorbs exudate.
I have a super basic 'white girl' tattoo, infinity heart sign on wrist. it is also upside down but I still love it cause it brings me back to when I was 18 and it has a special meaning to me
I love so much black out tattoos as well!!! 😍
I just bought one of your I hate tattoo tank tops and I'm so excited as a semi heavily tattooed person haha
Happy new year from across the pond darling!!
* Video with terrible tattoo infection *
Also * Video of someone putting three different lotions as a tattoo aftercare *
No one:
Lauren: That's the worst tattoo tiktok I have even seen!!! 😂
Love your content 😸😸
Glad to see you back, even if you were horrified for most of the video! 😂
Being covered in tatts like you is such a dream
same I have so many ideas but I'm not rushing
I too am a Capricorn and what she said is very true
I love your videos! I'm a capricorn too. 😃
When I used Hustle Butter for my tattoo, I LOVE it. I would put a SMALL amount on before bed and wake up it would still be pretty moisturised too!
Right way to end this day. Thank you for the upload!
Aw, keely did my first tattoo when I did my study abroad! 6+ years later and still looks nearly new!
Also kinda sad that mom had to work while so pregnant. If she LOVES it, that’s one thing, but if that’s in America I feel like she’s there because… she has to be 😞
If she’s making tiktoks joking about it she clearly just does it because she loves it
ooooo the one that started around 12:28 is an artist near me, i just put in a proposal when her books opened & i’m waiting to hear if she’s going to take on my tattoo idea🤞🏻
thank you for another good one!!💗
Oh my goodness, the funniest thing I've ever heard you say! As a fellow Capricorn dodger of feelings
I recently had a nightmare where I was getting a tattoo and while they were doing the outline I looked and it was basically that horrible tattoo with the flowers and butterflies on 14:08. How bizarre (:
We've all seen tattoos like this in the window of a tattoo shop at some point in our lives xD
That head in the clouds tat video made me go through all 5 stages of grief because I was worried then disgusted then unimpressed then confused then amazed ... lordy! 🙃
Tomorrow was supposed to be my first tattoo ever but I've just been hit by covid so I have to postpone it 😭😭😭😭
I'm really quite sad about it :((
Oh nooooo!! So sorry to hear this, I hope you feel better soon and take care of you! 💖
The infection was probably from her sitting in the bath before it's healed. I've always been told not to submerge it while it heals
Aquaphor was the one recommended to me when I got my tattoos, by two different tattoo artists. But yeah, you don’t need three.
Don't apologize for taking a break!
We missed you!!!!!!
The lack of content is super okay, take breaks whEn u need to!!! just glad you’re okay! Got a little bit worried 🥴🥴
I actually use both lubriderm and aquaphor 3 days after my tattoo it helps the peeling
I got hustle butter for my latest tattoo. The one before, the studio gave me delay vegan formula but it felt grainy and abrasive so I didn’t use it. Couldn’t get back to the studio to replace so I used Palmer’s cocoa butter formula instead
Thank you for the warning before showing the infection!!
5:44 I've heard a lot about this style
For the most part it's actually supposed to look "shitty" like whenever you get bored in math in middle school so you take a marker and doodle on yourself except its like *permanent*
A friend of mine actually wanted it done professionally (they've sadly passed away at 13, 2 years ago, so they weren't ever able to but their memory will forever live on in my heart and I'll be getting a memorial tat for them when I'm able to) but it definitely does look home-done and a bit messy as well
I feel like the style could've been done a lot better
Yessss so excited for a new video ! I just found ur channel over the holidays and accidentally binge watched all of these 🤦🏻♀️. Hello darling!
Just discovered your channel, got quite a few tattoos but not for a while. Now totally obsessed with what I can get next ! Plus your videos are very relaxing 🤠
Yay! Thank you to whomever tagged Shinova’s vid!
i have my first tatt appointment 5th February! im so excited
Yaaaay!!! 🥳
I love blackout tattoos. Something about it just looks so clean and perfect. I would get it done, but there are no artists in my area that specializes in complete blackout
The lubriderm lotion is the Walmart brand that my tattoo artist recommended to me after I got my first
16:40 is this satire?! I used Lubriderm with one of my first tattoos and it BURNED- I was SCREAMING!!! I mistook it for Curel, which I use now. It literally pulled ink out, and made the whole area bright red. DO NOT USE THAT for the love of god!!!
I was told by several artist to use Lubriderm. It also stung so bad for me too!
I just got my shoulder cap line-work done. Have never used it before, but this artist said to use Lubriderm, Fragrance free. Was told to only put the tiniest amount on, not to saturate. Healed beautifully. Can’t wait for the color!
Most lotions have alcohol which is why it burns. If I remember correctly Aquaphor and Cetaphil don't. My dermatologist recommended them when I was having a dry skin problem.
She was a paramedic. It's hard to find veins for IVs with blackout tattoos
Looks like a duo derm for dressing wounds, working at a nursing home these were used lots for decubitis ulcers.
06:25 I tagged you in that one I believe (because I remember seeing it) and I was like omg this is beautiful and I think her mom got the same one or a similar one as her :)
