Does this iPad 7 have a bad charge port, or is it the charging IC?

  • When your iPad won't charge you may need to replace the charge port but sometimes there may be a different component causing the problem. In this case we can perform a test with our multi-meter that may help diagnose where the problem lies. In the case of an iPad 7 that won't charge, there are four prime suspects. The charge port, the charging IC (Tristar), the power management IC, and bad solder joints under the CPU. We hope that it is not the latter as that can be considerably more work than any of the other possibilities. In this video I'll show you one of the first things that I like to check which can often point us in the right direction with regard to solving the problem.
