    Yay! Remove the valve core! Great tip! Frustated me for hours with this same tire/wheel combination. Worked like a charm Big thanks!

    I ordered a pair direct from Maxxis. Going to mount them on my 29ner Stans Valor wheels. The same ones You reviewed couple years back. Will see how that goes for a Levee gravel event coming up this late summer in broward. 👍🏻

    I really like these tires, 700x45C on a Giant Revolt 2. They are very compliant and have excellent grip and cornering. The issue that I am having is durability. I have had a few punctures in conditions that I wouldn't have expected. Lately a bubble has developed in the tread on the rear tire. Only have about 1,000 miles on it, 60% rails to trails and 40% road.

      Hi, thanks for your feedback. I am about to purchase one pair of Rambler but I am hesitating between 40c and 45c version. What do you think about the rolling resistance ? Do you think the gap will be important between the two ?
      Cheers

    • @pyromonster99
      @pyromonster99 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lofm3992 the resistance between 40c and 45c won't be too noticable in a gravel application, but on pavement it will feel a tad slower. I preferred the extra compliance of a wider tire since I ride on a lot of loose stuff. You'll need to check clearance on your specific bike, but on my Giant Revolt 2 I have no problems with a 45c but cannot go any larger. I'd go wider if you can. Happy trails!

    New to your channel and gravel biking but I have a question...whats the difference between 700×38 vs 700×40 or 43 tires...I have a giant toughroad slr 3

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're not going to notice too much for difference between those Tire widths. If you go down to like a 32 then you really start to notice a difference. The smaller Tire will feel more harsh and less capable in sand.

  • @junglejay77

    how much does the rambler affect your average speed on tarmac/pavement compare to a slick tire same size?

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I honestly don't notice hardly any rolling resistance. I think this is because the knobs are very close together. On gravel this is a very smooth tire.

    Hey Clint, Im about to get my first cyclecross bike, and I was recommended to get a lighter wheelset along with the bike. My friend recommended the Stan's Notubes Grail. I noticed you use them and was wondering if you would make a review on the wheels. Thanks for all the awesome videos!
    Frederic Feickert

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Frederic Feickert The Grails are good if you think you may want to run a higher pressure road tire. If you don't think you're going to go over about 45 PSI then I would go with the Iron Cross. They are a bit lighter. Plus the Grail Wheels tend to be a bit more prone to bending if you had something really hard.

    • @ClintGibbs

      +Jackson Lui I've never had to change the rotors unless I bend one. Perhaps after lots and lots of miles especially if you ride and steeper terrain you may have to change them but it's not going to be very often.

      I use ice tech rotors which are typically 2mm thick. markings on the rotors indicate a min thickness of 1.5mm at which time it is suppose to be replaced. something about exposing the material underneath.

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +skt4271 unless you plan to venture onto some single track then I would probably go with the Schwalbe G1 tires for that much pavement. Or if the 20% off pavement is smooth gravel than you could go with a standard Road tire that's maybe 28c.

    Clint love your videos but just can't watch the length of your videos. I do love all the information but think if cut videos like this one down to 5 minutes would be more friendly to the veiwer. Watching a video for 15 minutes about mounting tires is just too long. That is why I know skip past many of your videos when they upload or just skip thru the videos by 2 minute segments. I do really like your channel but for the average veiwer like me the videos are to long and information is repeated.
    Keep them coming but this is the first video I've partly watched in a while.

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Jonathan Kaany my style is to make more descriptive videos, so that's kind of become my niche. There are lots of videos out there on TH-cam that just hit highlights for a couple of minutes for those that are interested. I tend to review higher end bikes and components. I believe that most people that invest 3 - $6,000 on a bike would want to at least invest 15 to 30 minutes watching review. Regardless, I do appreciate your feedback and will consider doing more time-friendly videos.
