Anyhow, I cleaned it and put it back together had a tiny leak. After watching your video I realized I had the gasket upside down so it wasn't creating a proper seal. I spent $120 for a plumber about a year ago to fix a leak. This weekend another leak but fixed it myself. With mine it was all about that that plastic ring that acts like a seal. It had slipped off and I slipped it back on, tightened up things and no more leaks. One more thought, the ring was very tight and took some elbow grease to put back on..Happy do it yourself. Very good video. God loves you.

This was amazingly helpful video. The replacement P-Trap that I had purchased contained an unnecessary washer that the instructions said to put at the smaller end where the trap met the wall tube. After watching this video, I realized that it was unnecessary, as there is already a flange. Plus, I was over tightening with pliers. After removing that washer, and hand tightening, everything is fine!

Thank you! Just what I was looking for. I hired a plumber to install a new vanity sink two years ago,
He managed to clog the pipes with a wad of plumbers putty. I learn that as he walked out of my house! 😮 I wondered why it took him 2 hours!
I got my drain auger and cleared that.
Then tonight two years later I discover the ptrap has been leaking .
I take it apart and find he's Jerry rigged the pvc pipes.
The wall pipe doesn't have a compression seal nut at all... and the other two connections have integrated seal nuts plus a loose seal nut. Wtf!!!
I'll be taking the lose compression seal nuts out where the integrated seal is.

Thanks for this. Last night brushing my teeth before bed, I felt water at my feet. The pipe from the sink pulled out form the P Trap. Sopped up the water. Now I know how to go about fixing this. Only problem I can see it there seems to be no threads hard to believe as that sounds. I kept spinning the nut and it wasn't grabbing anything. Will taker it apart in a bit and see what's what. I hate this house I bought in FL 2 years ago. NOTHING but problems & it's only 20 years old.

Great video, I bought some plumbers putty in hopes of fixing my leak. I found this video and didn't have to use it after all.

Thanks for the video. It was a great tip that you gave me when you said I didn't need plumbers putty, caulking or tape. I just fixed my leaking laundry sink and didn't run to the store to buy that extra stuff! Especially when you said these should be hand tight. 😃👍

We had bottle fillers installed in our break room and the tech that installed them connected their drains to the existing sink drain. It developed a bad leak afterward and I was scratching my head....everythig was lined up and tight, nothing broken, I gotta be missing something...Watched this video and the note about the flared section always being on the downspout....the Tech presumably saw the downspout was too long and instead of cutting it to size he flipped the trap the wrong way! I cut it down and flipped the trap over and BOOM no leak. Thanks for your help!
