I think the mystery liquid in the first drink was fresh apple cider. It would make sense with the garnish, it’s the right color, and would add the acid necessary to balance the drink.
For those wondering about the first drink, it’s from Half Baked Harvest. Here’s the recipe from her website: 1-2 tablespoons pumpkin butter 1/3 cup apple cider 2 ounces tequila 1/2 ounce orange liquor ginger beer, for topping CINNI SUGAR RIM 1 tablespoon coarse sugar 1 tablespoon granulated sugar 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1 pinch cayenne pepper pomegranate juice, for the rim
That's why I love the stuff from Greg at How to Drink. Not only does he talk through his measurements, but he lists the specs in the description every time. The pumpkin margarita actually sounds pretty good.
No she's just using the classic margarita build, which gets all its sugar from the Cointreau (or other orange liqueur). I was confused when Anders said she didn't add any sugar because he seems like the guy to dislike putting syrups in margaritas. I mean I sub the orange liqueur for agave personally so I'm all for it.
The biggest problem with TikTok is that when I see the word my brain reacts too fast, immediately think-hoping that I just saw the word Tiki. And then I end up sad and disappointed. Fall TIki Drinks, now there would be something to get excited about!
May I make a suggestion? I’ve been having fun going through classic cocktail books and working with some recipes that don’t seem to have broken through yet. Crème de noyau caught my eye, so working up the Jockey Club and the Mikado, both from the Savoy Cocktail Book. Extremely fun and tasty!
From someone who enjoys relaxing at night by watching “how to” cocktail videos with high production value (in landscape view) splayed across my 55” tv…please keep doing what you’re doing. Cheers!
I'd love a follow-up video where you fix these drinks. Keep your format. Your personality really comes through in your videos and it would be missed in short format.
I’ve been watching Anders for years and seeing the channel grow has been amazing! It’s by far my favorite TH-cam channel on here and the way you keep it new with every video keeps me coming back for more every week. Thank you for your service!
I'm such a sucker for autumn theme flavors, loved the video Anders, great as always! also I've started getting into making my own cocktails for fun. I made my own autumn theme cocktail with different ratios that I'm still messing around with. this is what I got so far: 1oz Apple Pumpkin syrup (steeped two bags of a pumpkin spice rooibos tea and then mixed in equal part sugar with the water, like two cups. then juiced an apple and tossed that into the syrup mixture as well.) 1oz lime juice 1/2 oz Drambuie 1 1/2 Rum (had plantation 5 year on hand) and 2 dashes of angostura. If anyone has any recommendations on what they'd change I'm all ears 😂
I too had an extremely traumatic experience with Goldschlager in my younger days, and my college friends will never let me live it down. Thanks for taking one for the team by tasting that Fireball....
I would love to see you put together short videos with just the recipe and the build, and then keep the longer videos with the history and everything else that makes me love your channel. The short ones would be easy to refer to and build with, but the longer videos are why I watch your channel. Keep it up!
11:04 i love how everyone has That One Alcohol that they had too much of that one time and now every time they smell it they remember that time they almost died
😂😂😂😂 loved this episode! I was drinking a Ward 8 (your recipe) and just couldn’t stop laughing! Made your recipe of grenadine this evening. I have learned so much from your videos. I look forward to them every week! Thanks
Thisnis the best / funniest video yet Anders. We Love the reactions to the tik tok videos. We had the same. Love the hand flavored ice too and the violent one 😂
Could the “unknown” liquid in the first drink be apple cider? 🤷🏼♀️ We will never truly know since the creator didn’t say but that’s what it kind of looks like to me. Also, I’ve been meaning to say I saw your Manhattan short on Instagram awhile back and love it! So I would like to say do more shorts but I’d hate for the views on those to take away from your long form videos. Steve the Bartender actually just posted something about kiboshing his shorts. Therefore, I’m going with stick to what’s good and working for ya 😉 Cheers you two! Have a wonderful & safe weekend 🤍
You guys could make a killing doing short form content cause you already have such a large following here and your video production/quality is already better than a lot of other accounts!
My guess as to what might have been the orange liquid added in the first one is pumpkin juice. It would be that color and also would thematically make sense for the cocktail. Not sure how that would taste in the long run though.
Last Christmas season, my friends and I made White Russians with full-fat egg nog instead of heavy cream. A possible name would be a “Ded Moroz” maybe? Either way, a killer dessert cocktail.
Oddly, I recently had a 25 year old show me how to film, edit, speed up, clip, insert music and save for publishing in TikTok. It was an amazing experience. The app makes producing a interesting video almost instantaneous. She said one of the key things was to speed up the video and/or clip snippets together, in a way that everything moves very fast (what I learned to call a "blipvert" in my younger years).
I know you've done videos on workshopping drinks before, but I think it would be really interesting if you picked one or two of these and played around with the ratios to see if you can turn them into something legit!
props for honest reactions that also made me laugh. i think you were being kind. also, that one guy specified a Nick & Nora glass, and then used a coupe! at least you used the glass specified, even if it was a larger version. (or was it a wine glass?? haha)
For you it was a bad experience with Goldschläger….for me it was Amaretto. The manager of the roller skating rink I worked at when I was in High School (I was was 16 or 17 at the time in the mid-1980s) had a party at his house with a lot of alcohol…and underage drinking. In addition to drinking half the bottle of amaretto, I drank some frozen strawberry daiquiris and margaritas…and a few beers-I puked my guts up…I woke up in the bathtub covered in vomit. The skating rink was just down the hill from a major University (Perdue)…so we had a mix of university students and high school students who worked at the skating rink.
That brand of rootbeer threw me back to my childhood oh my god. I forget the name of the brand but they always had it at the cafe that my parents would make me wait at after school.
This was a fun video to watch. I enjoyed watching a professional Mixologist/Bartender such as yourself venture into the world of homemade amateur cocktails. I am sorry but I got a laugh when you smelled the Fireball and let out the sigh. It was almost like someone just punched you in the gut.
I have a friend who is interested in cocktails, but hates the taste of booze. He does not want mocktails, so I create very low proof cocktails for him. The last one reminded me of one I like to make for him: 45ml Aperol 15ml lemon juice 10ml grenadine 30-60ml of sparkling water Topped with aperol+grenadine+lemon juice egg white foam from an iSi whipper. He loves it. And it's super weak for a cocktail.
Yesterday I made a similar cocktail that tastes like San Pellegrino orange soda. Basically it's equal parts Aperol, Cointreau and lime juice with soda. I felt it needed a little booze kick so I made it today with another part of Tequila and it hit the spot.
"Az, would you like to try this?" AZ: "No, not really." Az...madam - next time I'm in Chicago, on the basis of that comment alone (not to mention all your other contributions to this channel) I will gladly fund an evening of your favorite pizza and drinks with a couple guests - even if it includes the guy who asks you to try all these wild-ass cocktails.
14:25 Those free pours she did looked like equal parts, so 2-2.25 tequila, 2-2.25 Cointreau, 2-2.25 mixed lemon and lime. That's probably why yours came out less balanced, a lack of liqueur.
Happy weekend!

I think the mystery liquid in the first drink was fresh apple cider. It would make sense with the garnish, it’s the right color, and would add the acid necessary to balance the drink.
Could be! I swear I heard the video say orange juice too which could be the citrus he was looking for 😅
And by “cider” I guess you mean American non-alcohol apple drink? Asking because cider is an alcohol drink everywhere else afaik
For those wondering about the first drink, it’s from Half Baked Harvest. Here’s the recipe from her website:
1-2 tablespoons pumpkin butter
1/3 cup apple cider
2 ounces tequila
1/2 ounce orange liquor
ginger beer, for topping
CINNI SUGAR RIM
1 tablespoon coarse sugar
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 pinch cayenne pepper
pomegranate juice, for the rim
Aww I love HBH! The drinks can be hit or miss but at least they’re good inspiration for someone like me who isn’t creative 😅
@@laurenhorner6963😂I feel like everything from her is a little hit or miss but they are 100% creative!
"That last ice was hand flavored". That killed me. Haha
I mean, who **wouldn't** want the extra special hand-flavored ice?
😂 Mmm-Mmmm-Mmm!!? 🤲🧊
What I heard was much worse - I thought he was saying HAM flavoured ice! 🤮
That's why I love the stuff from Greg at How to Drink. Not only does he talk through his measurements, but he lists the specs in the description every time. The pumpkin margarita actually sounds pretty good.
Anders laughing at that second TikTok guy was one of the best things I've seen on this channel. That being said, your recipes are much better
He's actually worth a second look @nonjustabartender. Newer videos are well done and include measurements!
That tik tok dude was a bit cringe
For the pomegranate margarita, I think the lemon and lime were sour mixes which already have sugar (just based on the bar setting).
Don’t change what you’re doing. Let TikTok do their thing. Your presentation are why we come to your channel. ❤
^^WHAT THIS PERSON SAID
I did enjoy your commentary on the Tik Tok videos.
@@snidelywhiplash What this person said (too)
I love all your commentary. I'd miss that.
Yep!!
We usually always skip the ads, but because you include your adorable dog, it's worth it every time.
The ID inspection was priceless
Best dog.
Anders, Chris, the hand flavored ice guy is actually, like you, the real deal! I watch his Instagram reels and they are really good!
hes one of my fave Insty cocktail follows
The biggest problem with TikTok is that when I see the word my brain reacts too fast, immediately think-hoping that I just saw the word Tiki. And then I end up sad and disappointed. Fall TIki Drinks, now there would be something to get excited about!
Allspice dram and cinnamon as far as the eye can see-- I'm in!
😂 I was thoroughly amused at the reactions...Im inspired to go make some hand flavored ice now!
One of my fave crossovers! Chris (Not Just A Bartender) is one of my absolute favorite TikTok channels! He really knows his stuff
Does he?
I can’t make up my mind about him, he’s so smarmy
"It's a very violent cocktail." 🤣
Very quotable vid. Loved this one!
Our new favorite term "Hand flavored ice". That was great watching those pom seeds escape your torture session!

Like this idea. Appreciate the comment
The pup wins me over every time.
For the pomegranate margarita, adding pomegranate molasses for the sugar would be amazing.
it's still in my mouth
"that's what she said" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You MUST do more of these! These are hilarious! Now, you need a follow up video showing how you fix these drinks.
The reaction at 18:01 is PRICELESS!! …It’s good…
I love how much anders enjoyed the "hand flavored" joke lol
For the Pomegranate marg it's 1.5oz tequila and 1oz Cointreau. Don't know lemon and lime cause she's free-pouring with squeeze bottles.
That face after tasting the Cinnamon Toast Crunch was classic. Don't mess with your format. We love it just the way it is.
I'm such a sucker for autumn theme flavors, loved the video Anders, great as always!

Your reaction to that second drink (no name) was priceless!!!
I learnt everything I know about cocktails and balancing etc from Anders. Anders is a fucking legend !!!
Your content by itself without the tiktok format is wonderful. Don't change what you're doing!
Apple cider, honey, lemon, and orange seltzer. And your favorite dark rum.
Thank you for not faking enthusiasm and shouting like an idiot, which unfortunately 90% of TH-camrs seem to think is great content.
That cinnamon toast crunch one sounds like it would be ungodly sweet and probably an instant cavity
😂😂😂😂 loved this episode! I was drinking a Ward 8 (your recipe) and just couldn’t stop laughing! Made your recipe of grenadine this evening. I have learned so much from your videos. I look forward to them every week! Thanks
Nice to see how Anders attacks each with foresight and it’s a revelation to hear his analysis….a glimpse into his process.
We need more content like this... loved this episode

Anders watching videos and recreating them just like I do with Anders’ videos. So meta.
I love Fridays this guy does it right thank you
Would love seeing you correcting and workshopping these cocktails be interesting how you could improve on the tiktok version
This was so fun and hilarious to watch. I think you should do an episode like this every season!
Almost an episode of “drunk mixology”!😂 Maybe you should do one w all free pours, heavy handed, spirit forward, of course.
Always happy for a new video!

Make youtube-shorts with a link to the full video, that way you get the best of both worlds
I love it when you do comedy! TikTok ruins everything good.
Probably the most entertaining video on the channel for me so far. Both editing, content, and fun factor all 10\10.

I drink Rumchata and rootbeer a good bit. Not much booze, so it's nice on a warm day, and you can just drink it all day long.

High school graduation (class of '02) trip to the Bahamas + Goldschlager = never being able to enjoy cinnamon flavored anything. 😂
The reactions were amazing 🤣 Anders’ classy science approach meets kids’ mischiefs
You both are the best!!!
That brand of rootbeer threw me back to my childhood oh my god. I forget the name of the brand but they always had it at the cafe that my parents would make me wait at after school.
Maine Root!!! I remember :)
After a bit of Googling that first one is using apple cider. Now I feel so old.
Delivered on you promise of entertaining, kudos (and congrats on surviving 😄)
A pumpkin cocktail sounds nice

Absolutely hootin and hollerin at hand flavored ice
Muddling ice is a very interesting technique 😂

I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and I love today.
On the pomegranate margarita I think the yellow bottle was probably sour mix and not just lemon juice
this was such a fun video to watch Anders, would love more like it in the future!!
That juicer you use for the grapefruit looks great :)

YESSSS
You should do a “How too Fix Tiktok Cocktails” video next haha!
Never let your bartender drink from your glass with a straw like in the Pomegranate recipe...
I did enjoy it. I feel like after enough of these, you could do a top 5 or something that you work shopped to "perfect" it.
My guess is that for the pommegranate margarita she already had sugar mixed in with the lemon and lime juice
Love this! I would have to dial back the cayenne pepper! Lol! Love the concept of this video!! Very entertaining! Terrific video!! 🙂
