Been using Superior Drummer 2 with the metal foundry extension for years. I was considering upgrading to SD3, but I've just bought this instead haha. Cannot wait to try it out on some new material!
Have you guys ever thought about making an orchestral or cinematic percussion library? I love the GGD tone so much but film music unfortunately doesn't lend itself to the use of drum kits very often.
I'd argue these samples/really any sound source can be manipulated with enough processing to sound great with film music and scores. Besides, it would be refreshing from hearing everyone use the same taiko drum samples.
I'm about to start my first project and never programmed drums. I'm still daunted by the arrangement part, but you've broken all of this down so well that I feel more confident in the mastering the sound. Thank you!.

Love the tone, the CPU impact is huge tho, I can't use the turbo function at all on my 2018 15" Macbook, which is a shame. A little bit more optimization would've been awesome.
When I record these with my Roland electric kit, the recorded midi drums sound way softer and almost hollow compared to before I press the record button and capture them. Almost like every hit generates a perfect “preview sound” with high velocity and volume. Is that because I need to mix the kit and layer more drums onto each voice? Would love some advice. Thanks guys. ❤
Quick question. I own Modern and massive which is amazing, however, it takes up 16gb of space on my computer. I imagine this one is just as much, if not more, space. For those of you who have all the GGD libraries, how are you making space for these? Do you just have a ton of space on your respective computers? I have 120gb in total to work with, I’m almost out of space at this point so storage is the biggest issue for me right now.
I used superior until I got modern and massive and I used that on everything. The second I do the trailer for this I laughed at the great acting and bought invasion! Can’t beat the price of 66.60 either.
@@thecalling667 Yes but Kontakt makes every Instrument harder to use. I mean, each time you wanna load a Kontakt Instrument, you have to load Kontakt, wait for loading times, load the librairy you want, wait for loading times, set the In/Out/MIDI correctly, etc. And the Native Instrument service center is a waste a time for me, especially versus a simple Vsti that you just load and that's it. I understand why some people would prefer Kontakt, for example if you have a big amount of librairies so it could be you're "go to" instrument, but for "bedroom producers" (like me), I think a standalone version would be better. I understand why instruments are easier to develop on Kontakt though btw.
@@benjaminmichaut9996 Fair enough for your kind of usage, I guess - definitely the load times are a whole thing, but yeah - fortunately, you can also save your routing/all settings as presets as you can with any VSTi in Kontakt, specific to your library, so I don't have to configure really anything after the first time, but I still get ya :) It's a whole thing sometimes and well, the NI Service Centre definitely sucks ass, lol - I can agree with you there.
@@benjaminmichaut9996 You can save channel strip settings/presets/templates as a work around. But I do notice Kontakt takes up RAM really fast. SD 3 loads way more samples and doesn't take up nearly as much RAM as kontakt.

Brodie if you create a channel just for rooms mics in kontakt and it’s own track in your DAW you can treat it exactly like a real drum set. I’m doing that with all of the tracks right now and I’m up to about 13-14. I like doing my own processing on everything

Laysman123 Same thing here, even with the recommended CPU requirements. Standalone works barely smoothly with best sound quality, but in recording software it’s unusable. I think they are already working to fix it.
Is there a way to know the exact pan values? I usually export the outputs to wav for mixing purposes. It would be nice to know what the actual pan values are so I can pan the files the same way (instead of being like "it's about 3/4 to the left on that knob").
Christian Clavecin. Not 100% sure, but have you tried multi timbral? When loading an ins track you should see multi timbral.. click in number of ins you wanna use.. I’ve done this for evolve sound libraries not with GGD.. just an idea.. good luck
Dead Reflections i have found the right way ! You have to set up a multi in kontakt BEFORE. Right after that you can load the library and you will find all the channel at the bottom of each part of the drum :)
Guys what's the best set up for GGD on logic. I've installed it as per instructions. But I seems to be slow loading and when I playback with two audio tracks I get a sample rate warning.

The reverb added to any track within GGD Invasion is coming through channels 1/2 in Kontakt even though all my tracks are routed appropriately. So all additional reverb added is bleeding into the kick channel. Thoughts? Seriously wish this had mapped keyboard names so I can easily see which sound is where in a MIDI piano roll editor without having the Kontakt UI open. This seems like a no brainer Is there a way to save Invasion/Kontact channel routings/channel names so I don't have to redo it in each DAW? I've set the 16 channel configuration as default in Kontakt.

Haven't got Invasion yet, so I don't know. But what you can do is insert a plugin on your Drum BUS (your DAW should have some native plugin that offers the option to swap channels) and use that as your perspective switch

Nolly mentioned that on the way in, he did some stuff, that's without talking about the mic and pres used. So the sounds are pre-processed on the way in, no way around this. But if you don't want any post-process, they call it raw. That's my understanding…
Hello! I'm totally knew to Kontact drumming. Can someone please explain to me if it's possible to buy this and use it without an electric drum kit or some other "triggered" drums setup? Like, can I just sit down at my PC with a mouse and arrange beats with these samples, or do I need an actual, physical instrument/drumpad or something? Also, I"m confused about something else. Is KONTACT a separate software, entirely that needs to be purchased first and are these sample libraries just like, plugins for the Kontact Software? OR... is Kontact software the utility that runs these samples and is installed with the sample library? I know it's stupid that I don't know this, but I've never even seen Kontact software before, and so I don't know how any of this stuff works. Thanks!
Hey, was in the exact same situation as yours few weeks ago, but now I have all of the answers ! First, you can do both, tracking by midi with e drums or drumpad... or programm drums with software like Logic. Second, to use GGD Invasion, you first Open a software like Logic where you will be programming the partition and then you open inside of the software Kontakt or Kontakt Player and in Kontakt you open the GGD Invasion. So you will need Kontakt Player, wich is NOT Kontakt. Kontakt = paid version at 399$ Kontakt Player = free version The difference is that some library is only for Kontakt so if you use it with Kontakt Player, you'll have to restart it every 15 minutes or buying Kontakt. But some are compatible with both, as Invasion is, so you can open with both paid and free version without issue of timed out or stuff like that. So to use Invasion in his full, you don't have to buy Kontakt but just downloading Kontakt Player ;) So yes, Invasion is a plugin but for a free software wich is Kontakt Player Hope it helps you !

Will Invasion work on older versions of Kontakt? The product description outlines this is compatible with Kontakt 6, but I wanted to make 100% sure before having to upgrade from Kontakt 5 to Kontakt 6. I've seen review/tutorials of people using Invasion on what appeared to be Kontakt 5, although I could be mistaken. Is this true? I appreciate any clarity you can provide!
Everything Nolly said in this video sounds great. But when you actually purchase Invasion, like i did, and you find out it's got completely custom midi mappings, none of the mapping presets work properly (not even close) and you have to go and remap everything, so you can actually start using your own/purchased midi tracks, you realize this really sucks big time. Every single drum vst i've used so far had STANDARD midi mapping. Had not have a single issue so far, GGD Invasion is the first one. I also get very bad stuttering the moment i add it in my DAW on a very good computer that can handle bunch of vst instruments without breaking a sweat. Dissapointed.
Please get a fast player to make a midi loop library. Get John Longstreth or something. You guys need at least one brutal loop pack with lots of different blastbeats, gravity blasts, bomb blasts.
GGD HW: person 1: we are going to make a full on metal library what do we need. Person 2: ehmm.. 5 china's and you being able to simultaneously use 3 of them.
It's just an aesthetic thing, but the only you need to make your libraries perfect is improve the GUI, something like the huge and beautiful visuals of EZ Drummer and Superior drummer...cymbals movements, also more steps in the movement of the pedal hitting the kick drum...hahaha is very ugly to see the two step kick, pedal rest and pedal hitting hahahaha...but really this helps enormous to inspiration, the good visual, the ergonomic design, etc. Improve this and there in no competition in any aspect, at least in the metal world of course!

I actually prefer superior to GGD. GGD is really held back by Kontakt, scripting is pretty meh

that would cause significant jump in file size tho, because you have to re record the sample with different heads and whatnots (different tunings)

You can get SSD externals for under $100 and have space for a lot of libraries, and can actually improve performance (USB3, thunderbolt)
if you're doing any sort of content production, you'll want additional drives in you machine

Kontakt is so versatile and already an industry standard; it'd be much easier to stick with this.

Output everything from Kotankt so it is centrally panned, then adjust accordingly in your DAW.
