I have a 2010 Ram 1500 5.7 Replaced Water Pump and thermostat to try and fix my heating issue on truck, and just turned into a extra problem now my engine is overheating.. I replaced my temperature sensor and it was working good and then started to over heat again reaching 240. Coolant level is full and no signs of leaks anywhere..
Having same problem changed thermostat changed coolant changed water pump changed alternator now The throttle body light check engine light service 4wd light is now on
I tell guy I can design and build a dream home but I don’t mess with my work trucks cause I’m not a mechanic. I need to get to work, never wanted to cause a bigger problem lmao. But I didn’t know about the scanner for codes and now I’m learning a ton!
I’m having that same issue.. I recently changed the water pump and thermostat.. I know my radiator has a small leak but it was getting hot before the leak.. do you think radiator need to be flushed out
No point of flushing the system if the Radiator has a small leak, it will stillll leak. Its better to replace the Radiator and be done with it The cooling system need to be 15psi pressure reduced the heat from the engine, if you got a leak the cooling system Not going to work properly. Good luck
I’m having a problem in my 2010 and while I’m driving it’s fine but as soon as I’m parked and idling my temperature starts climbing slowly. I changed the radiator about 3 months ago
After drive for 20 or 30min Can check the upper and lower rad hose by a touch see they are same temperature (or use a red light thermometer for accuratereading)
I have a similar issue right now with my 03. I let it run to get warmed up, and the rad was still cold! Only the very top of it is getting hot. I’ve changed the Thermostat already. Water pump and clutch fan. I’m thinking I need to change rad cause it’s clogged.
Did you have any success? I'm thinking the same on my 05, but haven't changed the thermostat. Changed water pump 5 months ago, and fan clutch yesterday.
Do you have to bleed the air , my truck all the sudden stared to boil water all ready replaced thermostat but did not bleed the air and still water boils
Hi I have a question My cars gauge goes really high and I believe its overheating .I place some Radiator Coolant to the Reservior .Then after that it drains my Fluids I put in the Reservior .I already replace the Thermostat in my Car . And still the temperature still going high and I run my OBD reader 2 and it finds a P0115 which is Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit . I bought a new Temperature Sensor but still its leaking fluids in the Reservior tje temperature gauge go higher . A good advice would be beneficial for me .
So its leaking coolant out of the reservoir (like air/coolant coming out the cap) Sounds like its not holding a pressure in the cooling system, my suggestion is gonna be a blown head gasket. Watch a video how to coolant pressure test see if that answer your question.
Having the same issue in my 04. I just changed the coolant and thermostat still running hot. Truck is almost 20 years old I think I’m due for a new radiator.
Double check after Running for 20 or 30min on idle, check the upper and lower rad hoses temperature if they have different temp it definitely Radiator plugged.
The hoses SHOULD be different temps. The upper hose should be hot as it's coming from the engine with heat transfer.....the right side should be hot and left should be warm. Same for lower hose, you should be able to grab the hose without the feeling of being burnt...
In 38 years at the dealership or independent shops, I have never found a car part called “Rad”. What is that? Is there a doughnut in back for spare tire or chocolate covered with sprinkles? Duh! There is more letters in thermostat than radiator! Are you saving time or just being “Rad?” DK, ASE master tech since 78
If I am not mistaken, the lower hose should be cooler than the hose on the right return hose.
Left side bottom of radiator should also be cooler.

Is the upper and lower rad hose hot to touch?
Feel the upper rad and lower rad area if has a different temperature if so, The Radiator is plugged
@@jfGarage4k from what i’ve read they’re supposed to be different temps
Its different temp if the thermostat stuck close. If the thermostat working properly both hoses should have a slight different temp

@@dreamy_tv2377 my service 4WD has been coming on for yrssss but only in the summer when I’m not using it. 😂. It works every winter just fine.
Thank you for sharing. I’m having this issue now and am a contractor, not a mechanic lol.
Same lol

Hey I’m having the same issue with my 03 I only changed the radiator hose but it still over heats? Any suggestions

Yes need to bleed the air out the cooling system
205 degree thermostat is standard
I switched to a 180 degree from Summit racing $35
We having same problems with 2017 dodge ram 1500 5.7 liter hemi

SO, IF I understood correctly, the spring end of the thermostat goes into the block?
IS My understanding correct?

Does it really need the thermostat though? Say you live in a place that's generally hot all year...
Yes it very much does. It’s not measuring the outside air temp it’s measuring the oil temp
