I'm a cognac drinker just bought a bottle of Sir Davis and I must say it's not bad at all. Not worth $95 but definitely pretty good. I want to say if you're a fan of Japanese whiskey you probably will like this cuz it kind of reminds me a little bit of some Japanese whiskeys.
After falling for the Traveler whiskey I am steering clear of celebrity whiskey. I am guessing from what you described this is similar to the Hemingway rye whiskey which is finished in rum-seasoned sherry casks. Hemingway rye is also 102 proof and probably quite a bit better value at 80 bucks.
I was wondering which *serious* reviewer would be the first to review this. Just released this past week. Heard it's MGP sourced with mash bill of 51% rye, 49% malted barley. Eighty-eight proof, aged 2 years, finished and bottled in Texas.
What are some of the cheaper/better options you referred to? I actually really liked it, but it is more than I usually like to spend. I'm not super well-versed in whiskey, so any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.
I’m happy to help. My first recommendation for a rye would be old forester 100 proof rye, it’s like 25-30 bucks and is a powerhouse for the price. Bourbons, I’d say start with Buffalo Trace bourbon again 25-35 bucks. Both are infinitely better than this.
I don't know if it's true or not but, a couple weeks back, someone in the advertising agency business said that Beyonce originally wanted to sell this for $200!
Yeah, I think you're messing up the pronunciation of Glenmorangie. (I've had trouble with this word, too.) I believe it's glenn-MORE-n-jee. Hard emphasis on the "mor," last syllable is long E and same pronunciation as " *gee* whiz."
This isn’t STRAIGHT rye. So this has added sugar, wood flavor and other artificial crap to cover over the extremely young rye. Moet Hennesey does the same thing with their Cognac.
Too expensive, don’t like rye, I would have preferred a Beyoncé bourbon at $50 bucks. I do like Matthew McConaughey Longbranch bourbon at $33.00 bucks.
@onjuliombrella2513 What am I bitter about? If you make good bourbon, you don't need a celebrity to help you sell it. So many of the best allocated whiskeys are so sought after you can't find them, and if you do, you'll pay a premium for them.
Let's be honest, Beyonce didn't spend time creating this whiskey. This is another celebrity whiskey that is priced too high for the value. The only valuable aspect of this whiskey is the involvement of Dr. Bill Lumsden, which has done a terrific job in Glenmorangie. The juice seems that's not terrible, but for $90, there are soooo mannnyyy more options out there. The put the juice in a very appealing bottle to attrack people and distract from the spirit.
I found your take on this product quite unusual, given the product's history. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the whisky and found it to be a pleasant surprise. While I don't see myself regularly splurging $97 on a bottle, I would definitely consider it for special occasions.
It is a knock to Beyonce. And physics. You already stated you would not enjoy it, so you didn't. I think you should review water next because clearly your skin needs it.
It'll be interesting to see how sales and repeat buys pan out over time. I've been watching the TH-cam response to this whiskey for the past few days. It's Beyonce's fans who are buying it. Of the buyers I've seen I would say it's about 80% black women and 20% black men. But a lot of her fans seems skeptical. Here are some fan comments that I've seen: "Wine or Cognac or vodka but I'm not into whiskey." "Whiskey is too hard for us." "Her target audience must be men. I know only 1 woman that likes whiskey." "$100 whiskey? She thinks her fans are old men."

Makes sense because Japanese whiskey is essentially scotch just not made in Scotland, and the distiller of this works with/for Glenmorangie
Beyoncé also stated Japanese whiskey is her favorite @@bradsbourbonreviews
@@jeaninem6868 that explains this flavor profile, Japan kinda emulates how scotch is produced
Considering her husband and LVMH own Ace Of Spade champagne I’m not entirely surprised that this is good and expensive

Hemingway rye is great….this is not
Nice review! I looked at it last Thursday at the local BevMo 89.99 plus tax. I’ll be passing on this one. Cheers!
That is the smart move lolol
I been waiting for this review. I really dig the bottle shape. I need to compare prices to other decanters to justify the price. I might buy this.
The bottle is gorgeous
Only bottle to me that compares is Old Fitzgerald but the whiskey in that bottle is much better than this
Maybe Rhianna and Taylor Swift will make some too.

@@bradsbourbonreviews I'll have to try those next. Thank you!
Wow didn’t expect your reaction. I’m intrigued for sure.
I didn’t either, but my expectations were very low
It’s a pass
I also avoid celebrity spirits in any shape or form...so i guess nice to hear its not terrible but for $90 thats gonna be a pass for me all day
It should be lol
I'm from st petersburg florida and I will definitely try it out and see if I like it
ABC’s got a restock this week
@bradsbourbonreviews I'm going to go and get me a bottle of it and I will definitely let you know what I think about it 😏 😌 🤔
And thank for the information about where to buy it from
$90 plus is a lot for ok Rye whiskey.
Indeed

Get an easier name 🤣🤣🤣
I know NOTHING about scotch and I don’t pretend to, thanks for the proper pronunciation
Got one of these about 2 weeks ago.
What did you think?
@@bradsbourbonreviews I haven't opened it yet.
I'm going to let you in on a little secret Brad: IT IS HER PERFUME! Atomizer sold separately! 🤣😛
🤣
Dr Bill Lumsden crafted it! Thats why its tasty
😂 Initially he said, "IT'S PRETTY F U C K I N G GOOD."
Which part lolol

True
Some websites are saying Straight rye which it isn’t
And that explains the sweetness

You and me both buddy
I’ve never had long branch, so I can’t comment on that
Every review I've seen says it sucks. No surprise.
Unfortunately
That's not true. It won best in class. You are just bitter

My hope is this is a gateway for people to get into really good whiskey
Couldn't pay me to drink that again. Trash.
No!!
Who would buy this whiskey, at any price? Secondly, her grandpa was a bootlegger? Prove it!!!
I’m not her biographer 🤣🤣🤣 it’s on their website lol

I’m guessing it’s a cash grab and she really doesn’t have much to do with it really. If it was a 40-50 bottle maybe but not a bottle I’ll ever get.
If I didn’t make co tent and always need bottles to review, I’d be with you
I think it would have been more of a cash grab if she put her name on it?
