As a young kid I would fall asleep to his albums on little gray CD player. My mother would always start it for me. I could not sleep without it. The sound of his angelic voice, the sound of his harmonic guitar, it all fuzed to create something so special for myself and his audience. As I became older I developed an understanding of his lyric, as I started to experience the things he had sung about. His songs provide a sense of security, knowing that Dallas can understand the things I have had to endure, even if he doesn’t know of my existence. Damn seeing Dallas as an old man is making me realize how old I am. Thanks for all the great music throughout the years man. Your music helped me at different points in my life. Thank you for making music for the highs and the lows.
I have loved Dallas Green for over a decade. He is one of the best songwriters & singers that has ever existed. No one knows who City & Colour is when I say they are one of my favorite groups, but I enjoy all his talent & soul. 'Bring Me Your Love' & 'A Pill For Loneliness' are my favorite albums. I saw City & Colour in 2013. He got a phone call on stage & announced his brand new baby being born. I took my nephew who never heard of City & Colour & he really was impressed.
I discovered City & Colour before I knew about Alexisonfire. I was about 15 years old the first time I heard "Comin' Home". It truly changed my life for the better. I'm 31 now. Life's different, more complicated. Time is slipping by like it's nothing. But Dallas' music has been one of the few constants that I know I can come back to. Like the first night's sleep in your own bed after being out of town for a while. Here's to C&C/Dallas' continued success and decades of more fantastic songs 🍻
Amazing. Same for me I had city and colour for the past 10 years or so... 34 this year... just really started listening to alexisonfire more recently and yeah all amazing stuff 🙌
I turn 32 in a month and found Alexisonfire when I was 13 on accident trying to download an Annihilator album on Ares. Kids, wife, dogs and almost 20 years later. Seeing Dallas growing old has a special part in my heart for when I want to be alone and sob. Cheers.
I’m 33 and turning 34 this year and Alexisonfire and then City and Colour were my absolute jam from 18 - 25. Only reason I stopped listening to them was because I had listened to and played their music nonstop for a long time. But this is nostalgia. And we are all getting old 🙏☺️
I've been a fan of Dallas Green since the early Alexisonfire days before anyone knew who they were. I saw them for the first time back in 2003 in Kingston Ontario at a bar called AJs Hanger, might have been 50 people there. I've been a City and Colour fan since day one. His music is so powerful yet so calming. His voice and guitar tone, along with his song writing abilities are a combination that no one else can match, at least not in my opinion. I've been fortunate enough to have seen Alexisonfire and City and Colour live many times and feel like a huge part of my life growing up wouldn't have happened without them.
Mark Russ I remember the sense of community I felt as an audience member. I was surrounded by a bunch of people who were broken or lonely like I was at the time and for that time being I just felt like I wasn’t alone. I also remember Dallas got us to sing happy birthday for his mom it was overall an amazing night
Mark Russ I see you’ve been through a lot. I’m sorry for that as I said before I definitely know what it’s like to feel lonely and I struggle with mental health issues as well. I’m so glad you’re still here today to share your story with me. seem interesting and I feel like I could learn a lot from you. He have to think about recording all of these songs in an acoustic album. Really. I always tell it to my friends.... This video is in my #1's for this end of year...
Not even kind of slightly true. You just dont listen to anpot of music. Glen hansard not only blows Dallas green out of the water, he even cant hold a candle to himself studio vs live. Studio album is just that...an album. Glens live performances, though, are a whole experience. Also, father john misty, war on drugs, even fleet foxes on their latest album sound better live(pretty sure their lead singer actually saught help to sound/sing better live and it SUPER worked).
gonna have to disagree on this one, when he plays with alexis you can see a bit more of that angst and rage. the acoustic stuff is a fun break and he's said before he enjoys it but does miss the energy of the full band. he's an amazing musician but it's easy to forget that everyone except the drummer is a lead singer in another band so the musical capacity of that band can only bring out more
This is how the album should have sounded. The production over powers Dallas's vocals and guitar licks, the reason we all listen. These versions are much more captivating.
Listening to him play against the grain made me cry and experience something I’ve been struggling with for so long. I’ve heard that song so many times but tonight was different. This recoding tonight made a difference and it moved my soul in ways it hasn’t moved in a long time. Thank you Dallas.
i too often completely forget that Dallas was once a major part of Alexisonfire, simply because his solo music is so absolutely captivating. he was born to be a solo artist. the first (and only) time i had the privilege to witness him playing live, he had me and probably about half of Webster Hall in tears, no exaggeration whatsoever. it was beautiful.
I found him through Alexisonfire many years ago. Young Cardinals was one of mention. I knew then that although that scene was great for the time, he was going to break out. Check out Never Ending White Lights Ft Dallas. It's an effortless diaphragm push. Damn good.
Who else can turn sadness, despair and madness into such beauty? This king of romance is of another planet. Thank you Dallas...you bring so much meaning to so many lives.
If you want to get something similar for relatively cheap go check out the Mooer A7. It's better than it has any right to be for the price point. (I guess you were talking about the guitar reverb)
Not enough words to express how incredibly relatable your music is. Thank you for baring your heart and soul so tenderly with such vulnerability. You create a mirror for our deepest emotions ....struggles ....passions...supporting us as we push through dark moments in hope of something more....something better. Never underestimate your gift. A girl I was dating dragged with me to see a concert with Dallas before corona and since I had never heard of him and it didn't seem like it was my type of music, I thought it was going to be garbage and tried to avoid going with her. But somehow I went there with her and I was absolutely mindblown by his talent. It was so cool to see someone who has mastered his craft to perfection. And trust me, he really does sound better live, I don't know another artist who does. Anyway, it didn't work out with the girl but I found Dallas so I count it as a victory regardless! :-)
Well, atleast you got something good out of it. With me i know both Dallas Green and Alexisonfire for like 6~7 years, used to listen almost everyday in the beginning, and now im starting to listen to Dallas Green again because of a girl i met, i'm kinda in love with her but she has someone else to love, and yeah, that's it.
@@MurdocBRr I hope you found someone or maybe the stars aligned with the girl you love. Either way, never give up. Love is too beautiful to give up on.

After this i realized she isnt for me, im not in love with her anymore, i still like her but just being friends now. And no, i didnt found anyone and im not giving up either.
